Howdy,

Currently doing a play through with a Qunari Female Mage attempting to romance Sera, I am nearing the end of the main story plot where we get the Well of Sorrows ( I have played past that, though I decided to go back a few saves to see if this might get fixed). I have completed all of her missions and Red Jenny stuff; killed the noble and made wine out of his head, did not berate her for the hiccup, constantly pressed the heart option, including having cookies on the roof, had her in almost every party outgoing to do quests (tried to keep her away from magic stuff) and gained basically full affection, but she simply keeps greeting me with no further romance options other than "I am interested in you" special banter talk. I keep going out to do side quests to see if it will trigger something, but alas no luck. I am starting to think that it has bugged or something, this is the second time I have gone back to earlier saves to see if I have missed something, since the first play through in the end there was not even the flirt option in the banter talk....I am nearing the end now and its beginning to concern me that it wont go any further.

So have you done the quest where you set Cullen's desk slightly off-kilter then put a bucket of water over the door leading to Josephine's room before her next dignitary meeting and finally get overheard/caught by Solas while you are trying to set a prank for Leliana? I got this quest then I got all the snogging options

Aye I have had that cutscene too, did all the pranks, and gone back to talk to her after, both straight away and after several quests and party outgoings,now I am nearing the end of the main story so I have gone back to the save just after killing the Noble to see if doing much more exploring and quests will trigger something rather than rushing to finish the main story..... I will update to see if it works, though it's gonna be another 20hours on top of my play through most likely

Yes and since this is in the spoilers section, I did the well of souls mission as well, gave the well to Morrigan and then afterwards told Sera I didn't believe/like anything that happened there. 

Got a "Greatly Approve" and everything but the flirt option is just gone. So now it's nearly the end of the game and none of the romances are available.....

Have you started any romance with any other character? I think you need just a little more approval after her "pranks quest". I remember talking to her after that specific quest and choosing the "special" option and after that, chose the heart/romance option, and she replied with "I like you, but let's keep traveling" or something like that. So I talked to her about something else, and one option gave me a little more approval("Sera slightly approves"). Picking the Special>Heart option after that initiated the romance for me.

I'm at the point with Sera where I'm not sure if we are fully romanced or not. Haven't gotten the achievement on my Origins app yet so i'm assuming no. Which means that after the pranks there were two 'heart' options in our convo and I think I picked the wrong one. I chose the "I like you but lets continue chatting a bit before we do the dirty deed" rather than the one where she said "let's go to your room." I could also be stuck because I've not advanced my main story line yet. Much as I hate to say it, i've been distracted by forum posts and playing through side zones rather than continuing thru the main quest line. I still get the option to kiss her every time I see her at her room which leads to a cut scene where she's jammin' her tongue down my throat outside the inn with the balcony where Viv's room is in the background but that's still no clear indicator I've romanced her ...and as I said, without the Origin achievement I'm guessing I truly haven't yet

I'm in the same boat as you. She addresses me very happily, I can go on the roof with Sera, but I cannot initiate anything. At this point I don't have any main quests left other than starting the end...

 

Her approval should be high enough at this point... what gives? Anyone know if any side quests out in the world can provide approval??

 

This is really a bummer. She's one of my favorite characters.

Was just reading the OP again ...you had cookies with her on the roof? when does this take place? I don't recall eating cookies with her yet. And if I haven't ate cookies with Sera i'm most certain we aren't fully romanced yet    I WANT TO EAT SERA'S COOKIES ON THE ROOFTOP WITH MY QUNARI MAGE!!!

Hah, the cookie part is pretty great.

 

Okay, I could zip back to a save 30 hours before and work on getting 100% approval all the way or.... just watch it on youtube or something. GDI BioWare. Had I known Sera would screw me over like this I would've taken Josephine or Bull.

 

Can anyone confirm this is an approval issue or a bug? I did get the pranking quest. No snogging option after or her romance quest. After Well of Souls the "I'm interested in you option" straight up disappeared. Wtf!

I picked the "let's go to my room" option, and I can now get cut-scenes kissing on the balcony at will but nothing else so far.

Well managed to advance the romance plot, I just had to keep checking if there were more cutscenes after having a cutscene and gain enough affection after by having Sera in a few party outgoings and then clicking the "I like you" banter where she says "follow me".

Pretty much sounds like a bug, or you did something wrong... i had no trouble, you just keep doing things she approves, going to her place everytime you go back to skyhold, flirt with her, keep choosing the "im interested in you" option and eventually, if high approval points, you'll get the romance scenes.

That's it. i settled for the voice change bug. I'm not compromising this time. Time to load up my only save from 20 hours before and b-line the main story for all main approval points. GDI BioWare. GDI.

I wish I could but I have no more Story content left apart from the final mission. So I managed to unlock two new operations for Red Jenny. I was super excited after they finished that she would have a new dialog option. But nope. Alas, Sera is a lost cause.

Part of me wonders if we'd be better served with some sort of mood moniker in the UI. Not a meter for sex but like "Sara thinks highly of you" or some sort of text that tells me what kind of state she's in. Still, it seems likely a bug to me that my "I like you" option was removed for no reason whatsoever.

Oh well. Cassandra is mine next game.

I'm curious, to those who successfully romanced Sera, did you complete all of the Red Jenny operations? Is this where we go wrong, or is it a bug?

 

You don't have to complete the Red Jenny operations, unless it's about Verchiel March (Sera's personal mission) Other than that, keep doing things she approves, do the main missions and keep hitting the "im interested in you" heart if you think you got enough high approvals. Did Sera told you she needs some time to get to know you better before moving on?

After that point I couldn't get any more approval from her no matter what I did. The question is, is it a bug or am I missing something?

This is exactly the same situation for me. Before temple of Mythal, I could check my approval by hitting the I Like You dialog option. She'd always respond with "Let's travel around some more etc etc". After Mythal it's gone and I can no longer increase her approval. However, for me, it's because I'm simply out of quests at this point as I only have 1 story mission left. But there was never any justification for my I Like You option to disappear.

Your only recourse is to see if you have any other quests you can try to get her approval higher, though I'm still doubtful the Like You option would reappear for you to initiate the romance, or you can load an earlier save and aim for maximize approval and see if you can initiate the romance before Mythal (this is what I'm trying this weekend).

My suspicion is Sera will bug out after the temple mission. Every time I initiate dialog with her she says things like "Hey you" and other sweetly-toned greetings like we're in a relationship, but I haven't had any of the scenes or her romance quest. I can also opt for Roof Time whenever I like.

It'd be helpful if someone at BioWare could comment if the above is working as intended or if that dialog option should still be present.

Summary for people wandering into the thread:

• I have completed the Pranks quests
• I am not in any other relationships (ended things before they started with Bull and Josephine)
• I have completed all operations
• I have access to roof time and had the cutscene about past and cookies
• She greets me in a VERY happy tone
• Dialog option to tell her I liked her disappeared after Mythal story mission (even though she approved of events)
• Final romance quest will not trigger

Speaks to the quality of the writing though doesn't it? That I'm sad I can't romance a virtual character and complete my narrative AND that I'd be willing to roll 20 hours backward for another attempt lol.

I do think it's bugged as in this play through I had 3 separate resolutions from the 3 characters I flirted with (except Sera, she's done nothing).

I rejected bull and Josephine, and Cassandra shot me down. All 3 scenes triggered on their own.

I'm playing on PC, so like the voice bug I don't think this is platform exclusive.

Also, I helped vivienne and have a very high approvals from her, for what that's worth. Let me know if you managed a workaround.

I too have a weakness for Sera's character lol. She just gets me.

Hah, good luck! I'm happy to report that rolling to an earlier save (nearly 20 hours before, sigh) has allowed me to romance Sera. I did NOTHING different than I did before so why the romance didn't trigger the first time I have no idea.

But I was finally given the option after Here Lies the Abyss to start the relationship when I clicked the like button. Now to get caught up and finish this game!
