My brand spanking new copy of Mass Effect 2 CE is being uncooperative.  After I load my ME1 save, and finish the intro, the game fatally locks up at the 1st static load screen.  I can't leave via the dashboard, and must hard reboot.  So far this Xbox has been a trooper, not a problem, but I'm not ruling it out as the culprit.  Any ideas, I have like 2 hours blocked off for ME2, right now, and I've now played the intro twice which while awesome, does not a game make.  Thanks.

try doing it without the import on the save game just to see if the game plays

Same thing happened here. Loaded my character from ME1. Got to the point where I am given the MIA 5 pt GS and hard freeze. Just rebooted.

Standard version btw. Played from disc.


Update: No continuation. Started me at "new game".  Nothing from previous point saved.  Selected the same path to see if it was a fluke.

Exact same issue here. No problems with hardware in the past, game fatally freezes after the MIA Achievement unlocks after importing ME1 data.

I have played through the intro 3 times (2x from disc, 1x after installing to HDD) to make sure I could reproduce the error.

Edit: This is the XBox360 CE version.

Edit2: After installing to the HDD again and running from the HDD, I was able to succussfully load past that screen.

Tried it again with new character. Same exact result. It freezes at the "Loading" screen with a glowing skull on the right side. Going to try when installed to the HD. Don't really expect much difference. Nice coaster I bought tonight.



Bugs like this are why I quit PC gaming.

OK, running it from the HD worked.

Yeah same boat here, I simply did it over and over again, eventually It let me past the intro. Fifth time was the charm.

Mine took an extraordinary amount of time to load the Lazarus Project, but once it got there it's been fine

Yeah I just had this happen to me. Didn't Bioware/EA figure out that sending a game w bugs like this like they did with DOA is going to annoy or upset people abit? I thought testers where supposed to find things like this.

Mine locked up at the first load screen with the skull x-Ray. I was so amped to play it that I was running off the disc, so I slowed down and installed it, and it breezed right through when playing from the HDD.

Same here. Freezing at that first loading screen right before character creation.

Exact same issue. Twice now I've had to sit through the opening only to have it freeze at that first load when I get the achievement.



Currently installing to my hdd...which sucks because I'm using a HDD from launch. Yay for having no space!

I had the same problem. Tried twice from the hdd and it would freeze at the first loading screen. I uninstalled from the hdd and reinstalled and it worked after that

Anyone have a solution to this yet? Mine won't even load to the menus.

Have the exact same problem playing from the HDD twice now trying it from CD. It's a good opening and all i am just tired of it watching it 3 times in a row.

Same problem here. Tried it from the CD, then installed to the HDD. Both times I loaded my ME1 character, both times it froze with the brain/skull on the right side of the screen.

Same problem for me, AWESOME Intro...too bad i can act it out now in real life since iv seen it 3 f*ckin times now. goin on 4th..seein if it will eventually work, if not im gonna Copy it to my HDD

Mine's frozen twice so far, both in about the same spot. Just installed to the hard drive, about to see if it works.

Anyone have a solution to this? I've only had it happen once now but I installed the game to the HDD before I ever loaded it up and still had it freeze there.



I'm currently doing the opening again but I don't want to have to do this half a dozen times just to get past that point.

Same issue as the rest of the people in this thread. Two attempts all freezes at the yellow skull loading screen. Installed to HDD right out the box and imported my level 42 solider. I just deleted the disc 1 from my HDD and am reinstalling. I will try again and report back in a few.

I got the same problem. I purchased this about an hour ago. I successfully connected to the cerberus, and imported my me1 character. Got to the lazarus screen and obtained the 5 gamerpoints then its just gets stuck there. this is my third attempt with it loading of the dvd drive. I havent tried the hdd install yet but reading some of the posts above its like a 50/50 chance. Im a little slow due to a mild case of food poisoning but i really want to play this game. so im gonna try the hdd install.
