He's pretty personable for a sadistic killer.
Why is the Iron Bull so likable?

Wow interesting, you were never able to trigger the personal quest? It's one of my favorites of the companion quests, I hope you can get it next time you play.
Yeah? I'll keep an eye out for it next time... I talked to him a lot and I thought that I was gaining a lot of approval, but maybe I didn't exhaust enough dialogue options or something. The personal quests were a little strange for me... in the case of Dorian, I got his almost immediately after recruiting him, but I don't recall being that nice to him... everyone else's quests came much later in the game, if at all. Either way, the story played nicely even if I didn't see everything the first time around, and now I have a few things to look forward to for the next run.

You need a certain level of approval with Bull - took me a while just to get meatier conversations with him. A good idea is to take him with you while killing a dragon. He's rather keen on dragon hunting. It should help somewhat at least.

True! Yeah, it worked out kinda weird for me, too. I'm not even sure I got every quest possible for the characters. I heard about an amulet quest for Dorian which I never got, though that may be romance specific. I never got Solas's quests until late in the game even though I was able to get lots of approval from him. Don't completely understand the system, but it may just be fooling me a bit since we can't really keep track of approval as easily this time.

Huh... now that you mention it, I also didn't get a quest from Solas or Blackwall, and this is the first I'm hearing about an amulet for Dorian... maybe my Inquisitor just thinks he's cool but nobody on the team actually likes him...

Let me guess you went full heretic on your playthrough?

Of course not. You never go full heretic.

I love that
Spoiler, and that is the best choice if you want to be friends with him because he clearly loves his Chargers. His ties to them are stronger than his ties to the Qun. I like the way things turned out.
Not really. He seems about equally happy either way.

Spoiler
But if you see how he interacts with his Chargers, you know that there is love there.

I personally much prefer that he feels like he's a better man by saving them.

SpoilerBull has no family under the Qun. The Chargers are his family. Bull may not show it, but losing the only family he has would hurt him more than losing other randoms under the Qun.
Oh without a doubt. Bull does love the chargers,

Bull had friends under the Qun that meant as much to him then as the Chargers do now. Just that he's been away from them for about ten years. Also, pretty much all of them are dead.
