So I've just finished Wicked Hearts and Wicked Minds, I've done Varric's red lyrium smashing - and this quest still won't show up. Is there a point at which you can't get it anymore? I've been talking to him every chance I get and I'm fairly sure my approval is fine. Anyone else have this happen?

Nope, I got it on my first playthrough just fine after Here Lies the Abyss but before Wicked Hearts and Wicked Minds (I hadn't even completed the red lyrium quest at that point).

I finally got it after finishing the Chapter 2 story mission (can't remember the name off the top of my head), so it's there. Must be some internal triggers that cause it to be available.
