Ive got a rogue and I dont really want to have the cleric/rogue in my party from Lothering..not to mention I think the game is too hard to have mostly dps'ers int he party.

As for Sten, well, I can't figure him out at all, but at least he made his temperament known from the start.

Yeah, it's all well and good to only care about yourself, but I hate it when Morrigan protests choices that benefit our group. There's a part where you have to help someone to get something which is going to make our lives much easier, but she chastises me because she'd prefer to be difficult rather than do things which are going to benefit us. Maybe that's just her character, but it wasn't the initial impression I got, and it just makes her kind of an annoyance.
That is my one problem with Morrigan, it's constantly "Why are we wasting our time helping _____ when we have so much else to do?" when the thing we're doing is actively forwarding our mission. I know a lot of people in real life who are contrary for its own sake though and Morrigan actually has a bit of an excuse, having been almost completely alone save for her antagonistic witch-"mother". Sten also docks me points a lot, but he's got a completely alien perspective on everything and it's pretty funny.
As to the "What are you still doing here?" line of conversation you can ask Morrigan, that prompt sends up some red flags just looking at the question. As would probably happen in real life you get docked faction no matter how you end that conversation. Some questions are better left unasked

Yes, it isn't the best start to a conversation, but it could be a legitimate query as to why she stays with you. Strangely, the line of conversation that begins essentially with "You're frigid wench, you know that?" doesn't necessarily have any negative impact on your relationship. That seemed a little strange.

Morrigan's easier. Flemeth has given her self-esteem issues, and she needs to be propped up now and then. But because she doesn't seem to value herself that much, she's quick to devalue everyone else, which is what makes her cold. I think.
Those two have been the most difficult for me. Everyone else has been pretty easy. And my theories are subject to change.

I think Im only going to keep Sten until I get Shale. I mean, lets be honest, Sten is a freebee, but I actually paid for shale!

I don't know what you guys are doing wrong. Morrigan, Shale and The Dog all Love me. I've even gotten Morrigan up to +92 so far
Well, the war dog isn't exactly tough, just tell him he's a good boy and rub his belly, quite like a real dog I suppose.
For the others, so long as you know what they want to hear when you speak to them, it isn't so hard to buter them up that way, I just find Morrigan's response to me doing anything helpful, regardless of its effect on our ability to complete our goals a little off-putting.

You and me both. I have no choice but to keep Claudia Black in my group, despite everything.wwurst wrote...
Im sure that has more to do with time spent with her/them. My issues are just past Lothering. It's funny, the only reason I keep Morigan around is because of an unhealthy longing for Claudia Black. lol.
Oh, Claudia ...

I havent used her spider form which is all she has right now, but wouldnt that just be another melee-er, I already have those, I need her spells to balance it out. Im not sure Id ever use her shape shifting on that basis alone.
Spider form has web which is a handy way to lock someone down for a bit, you can start off as a spider and instantly poof back into Morrigan after webbing or whatever. Sometimes when she's low on mana and I don't want to pop a potion I'll swap her into spider form for a quick web and poison.

Morrigan seems to like it a lot if you let Jowan out of the castle cell and if you try to convince Connor's mother to let Jowan perform the blood ritual with her as a sacrifice.
