So DAI has big maps alright, almost as big as Skyrim, very well done. But it is many a times an outright pain in the rear to get up to a particular hill to get that one shard with a less than helpful map.

How Skyrim got around with this problem was by using the Clairvoyance spell, the one that will point the way towards the shortest path you can take to your destination. Should DAI also have one such mechanic? Thoughts?

In my opinion DAI should drop the superflous jumping and just stick to masking some paths (hidden behind visual obstructions, not showing up on the minimap, etc. pp.) if they want players to search for special stuff. There's nothing gained from allowing a PC to jump around (wee, I can jump, hop-hop-hoppitty-hop-bored-now) and much to lose (falling/slipping off cliffs/taking damage, screwing with AI pathfinding, yaddayadda).

Jumping exists 'cause some people love it and have been asked for it since forever.

Doesn't mean it adds meaningful to the game. Personal opinion of course and everyone is welcome to disagree, but from where I stand, it adds nothing to the game and poor implementation actually detracts from the enjoyment.

I very much enjoy jumping like a lunatic. Leave my jumping alone.

Sometimes I jump on things just to see how high I can get...

Clarivoyance did not always work. Particularly if it couldn't find a path.

All this worry about the big bad guy when boulders on paths are the biggest threat to Thedas...

I don't understand it, but look at any MMO.

So morons love nothing better than jumping around like...well...morons.

And we are in the gaming generation that was raised on MMOs (WoW).

Keep the jumping. If anything add something to the sonar search check. I tend to now use sonar along with constant checking of map

I like to jump.

Fallen tree? Jump over it!

Box? Jump on top of it!

Side of a hill? Jump like a moron til I scale it!

Until I jump and fall off a cliff. That part isn't fun.

And yeah, my WoW toons jump around like toads on crack, too.

I never got Clairvoyance to work properly in Skyrim and when it did it would light up the path but it didn't light up the lever I needed to pull to open said path.

As for mountains in Skyrim?

JUMP! JUMP! JUMP! JUMP!

Jumping on a rock to avoid melee damage is so satisfying.
