When I buy a Bioware game I expect to be engrossed in a long and interesting story full of likeable and relatable characters. This did not happen in Inquisition because they shelved story in favour of a semi open world and sucky fetch quests. Plot points are resolved quickly without lasting impact, plenty of characters are left undeveloped, choices from previous games matter little, the majority of content you do in this game is pointless and does nothing to advance the main plot.

I do not wan't this franchise to expand anymore in this direction,  I did not need or wan't another Elder Scrolls experience when I buy a Dragon Age game, especially if that Elder Scrolls experience will be lesser than an Elder Scrolls game. I am tired of this franchise trying to grab a new audience of players by changing it's genre every game.

I do not want an open world  if I have to sacrifice the story. This is perhaps the weakest Bioware story I have played, it is also probably the shortest.

This is of course just my opinion and feedback, but I thought I'd give it before I choose if I wan't to drop the franchise or not.

I think one of the main problems is that the "role playing" element is REALLY left up to the player.
Whereas in something like Origins, you get to an area and then play through an interesting self-contained story within that area,
in inquisition you have that little marker for, let's says, the Adamant fortress mission for example and there's nothing (apart from power which is so easy to hoard) stopping you from clicking on that marker as soon as you are physically able without experiencing a lot of the areas at all, and the story missions all start with you thrown into the thick of some situation that needs to be resolved quickly whereas somewhere like Orzammar in Origins has a slow build of you finding out what's going on and then eventually going into the deep roads.

I agree the main story ended way to short and the boss fight (compared to the DA:O archdemon fight & build-up) wasn't memorable at all.

I replayed origins for a bit to see the differences and while the game certainly starts to look dated, it has a beautifull pc ui, controls and so much more story content in general. So much more npc's had interaction fx, while DA:I's world is prettier and larger, it seems to lack more content aswell.
