How do the runes and elements work out?

 

Is it a flat damage boost of whatever the amount is....25 for example for a "superb rune"  and no matter what element you use for dmg there is no difference aside from which type an enemy is weak to?

 

There are no special abilities or perks certain types of dmg offer correct?

a good question. I have always wondered if there was a list anywhere of different reasons to use each rune other then vulnerabilities. I know they can combo.

If your question is orientated to MO then you're probably better off asking it in the MP forum.

What I can tell us that - in single player - my +16 spirit damage amulet on my Masterworked Everite First Enchanter staff (so 149 DPS with rune) is normally doing ~27 spirit damage in addition to Lightning damage, and I've no idea why. I'm assuming it's down to my Attack bonus. It doesn't seem to ever proc the Sleep effect.
