I guess Bioware should just give one "safe" pick for straight males. One objectively good looking woman with long hair, gentle and obedient personality, no scars and moles and with some sexiness in terms of clothes so majority of straight male players (at least they claim to be majority) would be happy. I guess they could borrow Leliana's model for every game, same face, same personality, just different hair-do and different name and backstory.

I wasn't taking anyone's side. i just find it hypocritical of 'Both sides' of the arguement. I just think both sides have valid and invalid points , and we shouldn't dismiss or respond to them negatively or in a back handed way.
As for Vivienne
Yeah she interested me aswell. I originally was planning on romancing her but then i found out she wasn't a LI so went to Cassandra (who is proving to be having a disaproving effect on my party every time i try and please her.... reminds me of morrigan lol)
Yeah I think Vivienne is awesome and I wanted to Romance her but Bioware is giving us the Aveline treatment again.
Also Harding is awesome she needs her own DLC like Lair Of The Shadow Broker with lots of Romance Content
.

They should make her Dwarf only . I know this sounds really wrong but it would have been either funny or cringe worthy watching the sex scene.

Why does everyone claim that there are more same sex options than male straight ones.
There is just as much straight male romances as gay or lesbian romances.

I like Cassandra i think her scars and short hair add to her personality. i was more attracted to Vivienne (looks wise from trailers)
The majority just want choice. You don't need to make her a babe or Leliana who btw's personally i think that woman is messed up , wouldn't want to break up with her because i'm worried she would have me assasinated.Leiliana character has deffinately changed since the conclave

Because people assume that when a minority gets equal options, they are actually getting more than their share. At least, that's how it seems. It falls back on the "we're the majority so we should get more" argument that's been refuted by multiple devs as being invalid to their approach to romances.

But you have choice. You have two options. Just like everyone else (well, at least gay guys and lesbians). If you want to argue about the merits of an advisor v. companion romance, that's one thing, but it's not like you don't have choice. You just don't like one of your choices. That's a huge distinction.

Damn Panda thats harsh as a devoted Cassmancer I agree with you that the general Ideal of attractiveness seems to bash great Characters like Cassandra & Aveline but what can be done people have their own tastes and opinions.
You wouldnt believe the BS I got when I said I liked Aveline and wanted her as a LI.

I fail to see how , me asking for another option limits non straight? I'm not asking to take away a non straight character and turn them straight.I'm not comparing the amount of potential LI i'm comparing the amount you can take to the field. And yes that includes for lesbians aswell since sera is the only one you can take aswell as Cassandra for straight males.
Hence why i brought up Vivienne as being free to potentially being available to both genders. I know now she isn't a LI because of her story. I'm just saying i like to take my LI with me into battle. Josephine is great and i'l most likely do a playthrough with her as LI at some point. Same as i will do a playthough as a female protagonist at some point.
Do i think Vivienee could have covered that issue ? yes .
Do i think her being unavailable because of her story is a good thing? yes.
Am i able to enjoy and play the game based on how LI's currently are ? yes very much

Are people complaining about people complaining in this thread?its funny how the shoe is on the other foot when it isn't about lack of female options in games i.e stop complaining/your being entitled/etc
Hehe, way to complain about people complaining about people complaining.
Its a shame to see our favorite characters get insulted but thats what forums are for - discussion.

Yeah and i agree , if it makes for a good story , she shouldn't be available.
I'm just upset because she was my 'First playthorugh i'm going to LI her' when i watched trailers before the game came out , even if she was female only

It's just what has been requested in all these "Cass and Josie are ugly" and "LI's for straight males sucks" threads. It seems to be what majority wants so maybe BW should give that to them and do more original LI's to other people who like characters who are individuals. Everyone would be happy ![]()

How about B-Ware making Dlc that would make certain Npcs Romances that match Josie content wise who would you like?
Heres mine
Harding & Dagna
New Dialogs "New Flirts included"
2 Personal Quest
Romance Finale

Harding would very cool. People have wanted dwarf LI for ages and I think she would be great. Maybe she could be bi LI. I'd buy that DLC ![]()

Who said that you are asking to limit non-straight options?
And "the amount you can take out in the field" is an arbitrary restriction that you are putting on the romances. If I said that I was only interested in m/m romance options that aren't mages because I'm pro-Templar, would it be fair for me to say that I don't 'have a choice' in my LI in this game? No. I have a choice. I am just choosing to ignore one of them.
You have two options: Cassandra and Josephine. They both have their pros and cons. You have choice. I'm not saying that you can't ask for companion LI's in the game. Of course you can. But it's disingenuous to claim that you 'don't have choice' because you are choosing to dismiss one romance for 'reasons'. I used this same argument on gay guys in ME3 who claimed that we didn't get two options because Kaidan could have been dead and Steve was an NPC.

To be completely honest I wanted to romance Sera with my Male Inquisitors I adore her and she can accompany you on your adventures and thats the major thing to me.

I love your love for dwarf LIs. I support that.
I'd rather see Harding come back in DA 4 as a full-game companion and LI, versus seeing her relegated to DLC romance (which probably won't be able to happen anyway, because my understanding is that they've said no to DLC romances). Harding has the makings of an awesome companion and LI. And I could easily see a storyline where she is sent as an Agent of the Inquisition to support the DA4 protagonist.

Well If I could have Cullen with qunari and dwarf Inquisitor (I have heard that there wasn't even story-based reason for him to not like them unlike with Solas) I'd be very happy since romancing him with qunari mage was my first plan.

Not only is there no 'story reason' (as they claimed), but lady dwarves and qunari can't even flirt with him, I've heard. That seems odd given that I've flirted shamelessly with him with both my male qunari AND dwarf.

Cassandra vs Josephine
Cassandra your in-world decissions affect her approval of you. You can talk to some random NPc and if she doesn't like what you said or did you will feel the effect.
Josephine seems limited to conversations and decisions revolving around her. Unless she has a hidden approval rating on your actions in the world.
You build a stronger bond with Cassandra because as a LI you can choose to take her with you and share your journey. Josephine feels like some biddy who is waiting for you to come home like a Door mat .
