My God, just because women in DA actually look like fighters, spies, priests, normal women in the medieval context of the game, that is, instead of looking like most women in videogames, the hetero male population complains...

Go play Mass Effect 2 and romance Miranda Lawson, for crying out loud. Or any other character with big ******, wearing few clothes or anything else that screams " I was created so you can **** me ".

Like people already said in the thread, there are already millions of games with that. Cassandra's romance is GREAT. She's very feminine, WAY more feminine than Miranda, for instance. I even feel attracted to her in spite of being a 100% straight woman and that should make no friggin sense. In all seriousness, she's adorable. If you can't see past the short hair and military appearance she puts up, sorry.

But then again, in real life, most people can only see what the appearance of someone reveals. A pity. Most good people hide their true nature, since it's a treasure worth showing only to those that prove to deserve it.

Hey now, don't lump all straight men in with the entitled homophobes who can't play a game as anything other than an overly muscled, grizzled Nathan Drake clone. I honestly could never complete a romance with Miranda in ME2, since she was such a repulsive ****.

That said, I totally agree with most of your post. Its just people who are too insecure with their own sexuality to explore the excellent romances of either Cass (cuz shes butch lol), Josephine (we dont get to see ******), or any of the romances which are either homosexual or female specific.

Im currently playing two characters now, one with Cassandra and the other with Josphine and I'm liking both, but to me the romances seem a bit shorter than the previous games and I wondered why they showed nudity for Cass but not for Josphine, not a big deal but I'm curious why?

The writer for Josephine's character is the same woman who wrote Liara and her romance scenes in ME. Liara's romance had explicit love scenes. The writer wanted to try something different and create a romance that was more ambiguous and left more to the imagination.

Agreed!

Then why are you bringing a homophobic argument into this thread when no one is saying the things that you are claiming that they are......?  Just saying.

Where exactly i brought homophobic argument? I think you don't know what homophobia means. Next time call me racist too. Just in case.

Forget about good looking females. It is sexism and feminists would tear you apart. We just can't do the same mistakes like in mass effect where people were complaiing about sexism etc. - the portrayal of the Asari race, the character Miranda Lawson, and the character arc of Jack. Yep.  I love political correctness.

I am not 'ungratefull' about the romance with Josephine. Not at all.

And why not?

Well, I like the modest behavior of Josephine. She is very liberate in her choice of both female and male protagonists.
I like the way she is serious about her work. She is devoted to the cause.

And... then she has this way of being somewhat theoretical (instead of practical or psysical) about relationships. She wants straight lines for sure. There are definetely certain rules to follow if you want to get close to her. Just like the old nobles had back in history. Her behavior demands respect. I figure it would work just as well if you wrote a letter to her where you asked her if she wanted to date you: Please write an X in either 'Yes' or 'No'.

And then again, you have to earn her trust as well. Naturally. And yes, I think she has personality. Surely a good romance.
Also her looks is a 10/10 in my opinion. A very attractive hispanic female.

I just wish there was something more than the flirt and the kisses in the garden. Something more official. I don't have to have a sex-scene. Not at all. That's not what it is about. Merely an extension of the romance it self.

I just wanted to add I was not particularly happy with the straight female romances either.

Iron Bull: I think he is physically unappealing (repulsive actually...no offense to anyone who likes him). The bdsm angle and need to dominate the pc turned me away from his romance.

Blackwall: He's no Cullen in the looks department. He is rugged and aged and even jokes that no one wants to see him naked. Well, I did, sort of, but wasn't given the option. I get a good view of my naked and abandoned pc, however.
So, these were the core romances.

Then we have, Solas. Who dumps you because he has issues of the godly sort

Cullen: Like Cassandra is (well in my humble opinion) the best romance option.

Dorian is my favorite romance. I'm a straight girl. ::shrug::

I so love the digs at people who liked Miranda, or aren't 100% satisfied with Cassandra or Josephine

I do think that there is legit reasons to not be happy of the LI options but those aren't:

  • Women in DAI are ugly.
  • All women should be.. (/All men should be..)
  • Cassandra or someone else is manly/lady man hands/butch.
  • I don't like bisexual people (I have seen this as reason as well with someone not considering Josie as LI).
  • Straight men should get more options than everyone else or can't have less options than someone else for once.
  • It's unfair that I don't have options cause I don't consider this character for option for any reason (you still have option, you just don't like it).

If you're playing a female yourself...

Then there is NO question left whatsoever.

Romance Sera. It's worth it.

Unless you're a Dalish Elf, then I'm not sure if you'll like it as much.

Some nice ranting about "Gay Propaganda" from the OTP, among others, if anybody's looking for some motivation to wash their mouth out a few times...look no further.

I know right...

Seriously making me think to play as a female - since at least they got Cullen.

Cassandra is OK, but not good, not even near.

Josephine is just ugly.. no matter how you put it  :P

Just wish that Leliana or Morrigan was able to be romanced..

Really hope they add more romance options in DLC!

Eh my favorite DA romance is still Alistiar's.

Merrill and Cass are the only female LIs I really like.

Cullen is my primary toon's LI in DAI.

Dunno what that says about me. :P

Women in DAI ARE ugly and yes, I don't like it. This is a game, virtual reality so yep, why not make girls look great. And yes, as you can see many people actually don't like it so you can't say this is NOT the option that makes people angry. It is, whever you like it or not.

Women don't need to be traditionally attractive to not be ugly. People have personal prederences of cource but there is no need call characters ugly just because you don't like women having wide-jaws, moles, scars/whatever the thing is women shouldn't have. I'm not attracted to all DAI characters either but I don't go around calling them ugly because of it.

Interesting.  Why's that Xil?

Because there's no contradiction whatsoever between "sweet and romantic" and "sexual."

Seriously, when is everyone going to get that this is all subjective? People are entitled to find characters unattractive just as much as people are entitled to find them attractive. Not everyone has the same taste in physical appearance, end of story. No one should be jumping down anyone's throats for having either opinion. Though the amount of threads on this subject is bordering on ridiculous and I think that is everyone's main gripe to begin with and I agree that this has been talked about to death.

I think we all just need to agree to disagree instead continuing the same argument everyday.

I'm telling you all right now, its Cassandras hair, its that damn short hair -- if she had long hair i'd put my life savings that most men wouldn't be complaining, it has nothing to do with her boyish personality or her being a strong female warrior or whatever... Its that short hair.

Most men just aren't attracted to short hair on women, even ones that look good with short hair look better with it long

The women are more traditionally attractive than the men. Imagine if the female love interests didn't just have the dreaded short hair or dark skin or angry eyebrows an you had a big, beefy 300lb woman with heavy scars, a crazy nose and face shape, and a missing eye? A woman who was old enough to be your mom with a bit of a pot belly and no frills, a completely bald woman with a plain face and no makeup who dresses like a hobo...the female equivalents of the male LI. DA:I is meant to be much more real than most fantasy games. The characters are designed as people with their own motivations, goals, personality and emotions rather than just eye candy. If the only thing you care about is seeing hot women with photoshopped skin and massive implants running around in battle bikinis then DA:I isn't for you but there are plenty of games which cater to that.

I don't even see a reason to care about how the characters look. This is a story, you aren't in a relationship with this person in real life and this isn't a porno (and for those expecting something explicit you'll be disappointed). It's a story.

I'm kinda on OP's side on this. I've gone through both romances. And Cassandra just isn't doing it for me. Josephine is my first choice but I'm not feeling the same connection with them, or any of the characters in this game. But hey. I'm just a straight male so my opinion doesn't matter.

Actually this is the reason to call them ugly:

http://41.media.tumb...nss0jo2_400.jpg

I understand that people have personal preferences but this is little too far from "good looking". So yes, i call them ugly, there are always beauty standards for majority and i assure you those characters don't fit. You might call them pretty but you will not convince me that most of people think the same, just look at them.

I don't count morrigan and leliana, They have been created in dragon age origins.

By that logic the game should just become a visual novel.

I won't comment yet again on this topic because I've already given my thoughts every other time this has come up.

A visual novel would be the Telltale games. This is an RPG. I only suggested the removal of Romance. Your talking about the removal of all other mechanics.
