Actually this is the reason to call them ugly:

I understand that people have personal preferences but this is little too far from "good looking". So yes, i call them ugly, there are always beauty standards for majority and i assure you those characters don't fit. You might call them pretty but you will not convince me that most of people think the same, just look at them.

I don't count morrigan and leliana, They have been created in dragon age origins.

This...is still subjective. As in, even showing pictures to back up your claim isn't going to mean you'll convince anyone who doesn't already feel the same way.

To my taste, Vivienne looks particularly love there.

I'm sorry, but what's wrong with saying "I don't find these characters, who aren't conventionally attractive, attractive."

It's a statement of personal opinion, some think they look fine, others think they don't.  You can't go around saying "Cassandra is attractive because I think she is so you have to agree"

A visual novel would be the Telltale games. This is an RPG. I only suggested the removal of Romance. Your talking about the removal of all other mechanics.

Why are you trying to do that to other people, though? You're free not to pursue a romance side quest if you don't want one. What makes it being taken away from other people who do want it hold any attraction for you?

Cassandra is a woman I'd love to meet in real life (along with others). I love the design and personality.

I'm more annoyed at the idea of beautiful women having sex with horned monsters. I only expect that from juvenile Black Metal videos. Bioware wants to be respected for having progressive views on sexuality, but I can't take them seriously when they basically think "anything goes". What's next? Sex with ghasts? It's only a matter of time. :P

Seriously. But, as far as I'm concerned, that person blew up at the Conclave.

Because people stating Cassandra/Josie/Sera etc. aren't attractive is always paired with: Women should be like this, women can't be like this, it's ugly for women to have etc.

It's okay to think someone is not good-looking or attractive. But stating like it's universal truth and combining it with sexist remarks like women can't have scars (even if they are warriors wtf) is just too much.

Yeah, because dating a character is only possible if they're sparkling beautiful/handsome.

It doesn't matter if their personality is great or if they show to truly love and care about you. Short hair or lack of bosom ruins everything. It just won't do.

It's unnacceptable to have ugly women in videogames. Fans deserve only the best. Pretty blonde, blue-eyed goddesses, sexy brunettes and wild redheads. Because people fall in love with a thing. Not with people. A pretty looking thing they want to possess. Something that you can woo until they surrender and then kiss and **** as much as you like.

Yup. Makes sense. It's all videogame, after all. There's no need for real, down-to-earth romance. Just idealized relationships with perfect people.

They are an anthropomorphic cow race with a knack for individual suppression and constantly hinting at conquering the world.

They are a monster race.

Every attempt at humanizing them is annoying to me.

No matter though. I'm just one person. Don't mind me. Bioware will take this where they wish. I'm just not sure how far I can follow any longer.

Well the 'Majoritee' should get on with the new design that is given to them . The 'Majoritee' should look at the forum and notice that these topic is always the same 'Majoritee' that start them wich should give them a clue that it is how it is .

You get 2 Options like I do . I get Sera and Josephine . Why are you so shallow ?

If you brought Personality or anything that has 'Substance' maybe these kind of topic will be worth reading by those who make these games . But all you have to throw in there is ' Sex-appeal , Cutness ' .

Well the 'Majoritee' should start accepting what is given , cose none else is complaining like they are . Trust me , you are not the 1st and not the last .

This may sound harsh...but it's fair . So said you .

I'm surprised you can walk around with that massive chip on your shoulder.

You're bundling the race together with the religion when they're two seperate things. You don't like the religion. That's fine. As for the race. I don't see how they're any different from every other race in Thedas.

The women are more traditionally attractive than the men. Imagine if the female love interests didn't just have the dreaded short hair or dark skin or angry eyebrows an you had a big, beefy 300lb woman with heavy scars, a crazy nose and face shape, and a missing eye? A woman who was old enough to be your mom with a bit of a pot belly and no frills, a completely bald woman with a plain face and no makeup who dresses like a hobo...the female equivalents of the male LI. DA:I is meant to be much more real than most fantasy games. The characters are designed as people with their own motivations, goals, personality and emotions rather than just eye candy. If the only thing you care about is seeing hot women with photoshopped skin and massive implants running around in battle bikinis then DA:I isn't for you but there are plenty of games which cater to that.
I don't even see a reason to care about how the characters look. This is a story, you aren't in a relationship with this person in real life and this isn't a porno (and for those expecting something explicit you'll be disappointed). It's a story.

This post gives me life.

I'm still baffled when people suggest that Sera is physically unattractive. Like, say whatever you want about her personality, but you go on YouTube and every other comment is calling her an orc or something... meanwhile the moment I saw her promotional images I was like, "YEP I'M GONNA BANG THE CUTE ELF."

It's like no one can tolerate female characters that don't fit their ridiculously specific requirements for attractiveness.

No, I don't care for the race either. I think it's stupid. In the sense that a racoon or rabbit race is stupid. I'm fine just treating them as monsters however. I like killing stupid things.

And the last thing I care to think about is a hot brunette getting it on with a horned cow. I'm all for alternative sexuality, but this just shows no principle at all. Sex is now just some cartoonish joke. Sex should have some possible "self-insert" capacity. This has none whatsoever. There is no player who is actually like a Qunari. And the Qunari fans on youtube show their true colors, when they joke about Cassandra taking a "bull's c*ck". It's such an undignified and crass position to place a great character in.

Well humans are monkey race. I'm pretty sure both monkey and cow came from ameeba's if we go far enough in biology ^^;

Seriously though, qunaris aren't any less humane than elfs and dwarfs. They are just one of humanoid races in Thedas. Fantasy games always have different races (=species), why you have such problem with qunari in particular?

It's one of those semantic points that always gets lost, because in the RPG world, the word has been misused for so long that it has become like "literally," or "factoid."

But, technically, rabbits, Qun, elves, raccoon, dwarves, humans etc are not "races," they are "species."

That's rather ridiculous. Without the horns, they just look like large, grey humans.

Yes, because when a romance ended in one LI abandoning you for another women, it went over really well...

People don't play BioWare games for realistic depictions of romance

furthermore, yes some people prefer blondes, or redheads, what on earth is wrong with that?

Exactly, they're pretty human looking other than the horns and skin color. Also, don't like half of the inquisition serving girls end up sleeping with Bull ?

I am. I admit.

This thread is a complaint about how the women are ugly. But I think they are beautiful. And I hate seeing beauty subjected to this level of juvenile buffoonery. Unlike the OP, I'm a fan..  but I still have my complaints on how romance is handled.

Complaining about the Qunari being too inhuman is hilarious when you consider the romance options in Mass Effect.

If Iron Bull is a 'monster' then what on Earth is Garrus?

Or Thane. Hell, elfs are weird, skinny, pointed ear creeps. Romancing them is pretty disgusting too. Why don't we just have human/human romances only ?
