I am. I admit. 

 

This thread is a complaint about how the women are ugly. But I think they are beautiful. And I hate seeing beauty subjected to this level of juvenile buffoonery. Unlike the OP, I'm a fan..  but I still have my complaints on how romance is handled. 

So your issue is that other people can romance Cass and Josie with a Qunari ?

 

Here's an idea, if you don't like them being romanced by Qunari. Then don't romance them with a Qunari. Problem solved.

They are an anthropomorphic cow race with a knack for individual suppression and constantly hinting at conquering the world.

 

They are a monster race.

 

Every attempt at humanizing them is annoying to me. 

 

No matter though. I'm just one person. Don't mind me. Bioware will take this where they wish. I'm just not sure how far I can follow any longer.

The ONLY semblence to a cow they have, is that they have horns, which aren't even remotely similar to cow horns. How again are they anthropomorphic cows? If you want anthropomorphic cows, look at the Tauren, or the OG Minotaur.

 

Qunari are largely humans, which just so happens to have horns (and apparently have some relation to dragons). Nothing, not even a smidgen, related to cows..

I think the romance choices are much better than in DA2. Which shows how subjective the whole problem is.

I understand that people have personal preferences but this is little too far from "good looking". So yes, i call them ugly, there are always beauty standards for majority and i assure you those characters don't fit. You might call them pretty but you will not convince me that most of people think the same, just look at them.

 

I don't count morrigan and leliana, They have been created in dragon age origins.

 

Look, kiddo- I'm finding it difficult to take you seriously, but just this once, I'm going to try.

 

I didn't find Dorian all that attractive at first, anyway- I mean, moustaches are just not on for me. And Iron Bull's not exactly what I had hoped for in a Qunari character, let alone a love-interest. But those were my two options for an Inquisitor I wanted to play as, and I dealt with it. No amount of complaining here nor on some other blogging site will change that. I'm sure there are definitely people who felt the same way. But time went on and I grew to like them as characters despite how the concept artists and creators designed them.

 

Playing the game itself changed that and well, Dorian's a first. The story arc and characterisation outweighs how he's been designed, so I grew to like him more as a companion.

 

What I'm trying to say is, in a lot of other games, there will definitely be no shortage of conventionally attractive women. So, why should Dragon Age play it safe and assimilate into that? Why design something people have already seen time and again for female characters? Why not try something else and stand out? Hell, it's gotten people talking, whether it be good or bad. It made an impact. That's good. If it doesn't appeal to you, too bad.

 

If it's to sell more, well, they've already done that. If it's because you just don't plain like your choices but you're justifying your claims by being the spokesperson for a group, you're going to have to fight a lot of voices in your group who say otherwise. A lot. And if it's to prioritise certain straight men's sensibilities over that of every other groups, well, they're not that kind of game developer. Or if it's an attempt to win a certain market back, they probably still despise it all the same anyway by virtue that it's Bioware, the company that "panders" to minorities. In that case, why cater to a set of people who probably already despise them and their games? That's like me trying to find the perfect present to someone who practically despises me- it won't be worth my time and effort.

 

People will still play Inquistion, whether you and the vocal percentage of guys like you, loathe your options or not. The game will still be played by everyone else. Your loss, not their's.

But... is it not juvenile buffoonery when people go "LOLOLL she wants the D" about Cass or Josie or whoever and a human Inquisitor? Is it only a problem when people talk about them with qunari? What about dwarves, elves?

The thing to remember is that at the end of the day, they're all people. Within the context of a fictional setting, anyway... Iron Bull's not an animal. Cole says that part of the reason Bull chose his name is because he wanted to say it before someone else could, so it wouldn't hurt when people called him a beast.

Except you're reasons for hating the Qunari are basically. 'No, they're monsters. They can't be like normal people. They have horns ! That's gross.'
