They've shown themselves to be essentially a monster race in their role in the lore. To me, they have no redeeming qualities as an acceptable faction. They are the stuff of nightmares, as a group. That will become more apparent sooner or later.

As for sex, my reasons is that romance options should always have some self-insert capacity. I don't think the Qunari have that factor.

Why should they have self-insert capacity ? It's a story. They're characters.

I would say that as well, but sex and romance changes that for me.

I never would think this way in a PnP setting.

It's dumb because he doesn't think the way you do. If an 11 foot tall dude with horns broke through your door right now, I'm sure the first thing on any sane person's mind is about getting into his pants.

No, it wouldn't be. But giant horned men also don't exist in this world. Also, I don't think anyone was arguing whether the Qunari have sex appeal or not. That's completely subjective. I just thinks it's stupid to be upset because Bioware decided some of their characters might be attracted to Qunari.

Also, its more like 8 feet tall I think. 9 at most.

So, am I to understand that if Dragon Age has more characters who are Qunari (or Tal-Vashoth, whatever) tied into the story in future installments, you'll end it and high-tail out?

Call me the harbinger of doom, but I think, with a Qunari companion being romanceable before any dwarven companion, it could lead that way...

And thus Street has absolutely no reason to feel empathy for them trying to take over the world, nor should he think any person should want to have sex with them. Even if they did, he wouldn't be obligated to do those things.

He was called racist for saying giants with horns look like monsters, even though that describes quite a few monsters from other mythos.

Should I ask people to go back discussing the topic so thread doesn't get closed.. cause topic is what it is I guess I shouldn't do that.

Could we just have general romance thread so all these seperate complains can at least be put in there? I wonder why mods kept closing the old romance threads cause without them these one's just keep up popping and there is no place to discuss about the popular topic.

Probably.

It's already bad enough that a random Qunari merc/Carta/Dalish/random Joe can be the chosen of Andraste and redirect the course of the Chantry. I don't know what to think anymore about Dragon Age. There's much to like about this game, but I'm a little saddened where things are going. I would have never expected thinking like this pre-launch.

But I don't mean this in a hateful/whiny way. I'm just confused. If I leave, it'll be as quietly as possible.

I dunno, with all the love Harding is getting I'd say the chances of a dwarf LI are looking quite a bit higher now.

Well the popularity of Sigrun and Varric hasn't helped this far so I'm not sure. Let's hope though, someone like Harding would be great romance.

Something I still don't understand, but fair enough.

I mean, for a lot of fantasy-adventure stories, the "Call of Adventure" almost always originates from an accident and people generally go for the "unlikely" hero trope. I suppose the story was invoking that- Cassandra tells our Inquisitors that they're "not what she expected" regardless of race (but correct me if I'm wrong).

Give it couple sequals more and there is Darkspawn LI! Probaply before dwarf LI as well :P

Careful with what you wish for- they already had intelligent darkspawn capable of speech and emotions (Awakening, hello). It might not be long now.

Hell, elfs are weird, skinny, pointed ear creeps. Romancing them is pretty disgusting too. Why don't we just have human/human romances only ?

On the bright side, there's less complaining about romance options than there was.

A visual novel would be the Telltale games. This is an RPG. I only suggested the removal of Romance. Your talking about the removal of all other mechanics.

No you suggested the removal of romances because to you all people seem to do is complain about it.

As if that logic can't be applied to every single feature of the game.

To add another opinion (didn't read all answers yet, but will do so later):

I agree that the romance options for straight male characters seem more limited than usual this time. I just did the Cassandra romance simply for seeing how it looks like, but will load a previous save again as I didn't really find it fitting for my character.

It feels like she is pursuing some kind of ideal image taken from books and tales about love, instead of having a real interest in the person she is with. Maybe that's just me, but that's how it felt like. Playing "the Game" on a smaller scale it seems :D.

The difference for me: It doesn't bother me. Not making any romance is a decision as well, and why should there always be the perfect person for you as you are trying to stop a possible end of the world? I feel more connected to Solas and Dorian than to any woman of the party, and those deeper friendships are very nice experiences as well. I don't need everything to lead to sex and kisses to have satisfactory content. In fact, most romances don't add much to the games anyway besides some flirting and a "congratz, dude, you had sex" achievement.

So yeah, I'll probably choose a path without romance, as I didn't really feel like romancing any of the women. But I still feel like I have great intimate conversations with comrades, so I don't see the big issue in that.

so ... this is enlightening ...

for some reason i was positive you could romance sera ... had my eyes on her and everything ... i knew you couldn't leliana, cause i checked that out as soon as i could since she's been the love of my life since dao ... but not even sera ? where's the cutesy romance option ?

why not make josephine female only and make sera both male and female ? this way you satisfy both sides ... the tom-boy one and the cutesy one ...

weird ...

Not sure how this, thread turned into a debate on whether or not qunari or monsters, but ah god she's hideous!  Yeah monstrous, mostrously beautiful. But srsly they look more human than elves do, Iron Bull is just an ugly example.

Because hair color is so much more important than personality.

People who don't play Bioware games do mock us for playing "waifu" simulators.

well ... for one i didn't. i only clocked in about 6-7 hours on 2 separate profiles ( since i realized after a few hours that melee combat is basically annoying as hell in this game ) ...

and second ... judging by what i've seen in gameplay footage and trailers and so on ... yeah. she's the cutesy one in spite of her cold blooded nature ... just cause you have no problem with killing a bunch of people doesn't mean you can't be cutesy.

I never wanted it to be a debate. Sorry if it went on for too long. :) It's not like I sought to change anyone's minds... nor would anyone do that to me. I'm happily implanted here. I simply hate them. And so far, Bioware hasn't done anything to make me like them. They seem to want me to hate them more. lol
