you're standing in the fire and complaining that it is hot. Guess who that line is courtesy of? I'm just not here for people complaining about this for the millionth time. Jesus...let me give you perspective: i'm a black lesbian. I just got an unquestionably idenfiable black woman in this game in Viv and lesbian no chaser in Sera. it took 3 games for this to happen. FOUR if you count Awakenings. like...*holds up sign again*

Heterosexual men have the same amount of options we've always had. But that's not the point, it'd still be a nice change of pace.We had that for Mass Effect 3 now it's the turn of the heterosexual men

Definitely need to turn this into a drinking game. Or bring out the violins.
Some guys on the forums are really going all-out with the hate on Cassandra and Josephine. Like this thread or the other "they are ugy" one. ![]()

It's an RPG. I can't possibly be the only straight guy who does playthroughs as a female main character, romancing male and female characters. I mean if you're a straight guy, chances are you get a kick out of lesbians (don't lie), and hell even romancing a guy is still cool if you're playing a female character. I mean it's still a heterosexual relationship, and you get the added bonus of creating the look of the woman yourself in character creator so...win.
What are the chances that in a game that takes 100 hours easy to play through unless you're rushing, you need half a dozen straight female romance options. Are you gonna keep playing the game the same way, as a dude, for 600+ hours?

So let me just start out by saying I love Dragon Age, so this is not a rant. Also my first post on here in years!
I am however a little disappointed by the heterosexual female romance options...in that'll there's only two. There seems to be more options for the same sex or 'swings both ways' camps.
#Spoiler# (Which I only know from reading, not from experience in game yet)
The only options for a male heterosexual character which, let's face it (don't try to start and take the moral high ground here) is going to be the MAJORITY of DA gamers (it just is statistically) are, Cassandra or Josephine.
Now this thread might start to sound harsh, but I think it's fair.
Cassandra is a tough tom-boy esque, scarred faced zealot. Not most guys first choice in women. And Josephine; who's simply not involved in the game enough to be interesting (I.e. Not a proper party member to form a close relationship with).
When we compare them with the obvious 'sex appeal' of say Morrigan and Isabella, or the cutesy Leliana and Merrill, the options are slim pickings to say the least. Again, harsh but fair for the majority.
Such a ridiculous thing to fret about in a game, but in truth the companion and romance options in Mass Effect and Dragon Age games have been one of the most interesting 'side quests' to explore.
Add a third (straight or bi, non elf-loving) lady Bioware!
Agreed. Cassandra is however at least an interesting character which Josephine obviously is not. She pales completly in comparison with Leliana or Vivienne. So technically this gives you only one romancable heterosexual character. Since she is the only one participating in quests. Morrigan was really something else and also Isabella of course.

I am also playing as a female on my first playtrough (I'm male, straight) and I just love Sera
. But as the story goes on, I also started to like Cassandra, even though I usually dislike short hair/not blonde (
) girls in real life. She has some real depth and hidden goofiness I had come to enjoy. On my next playtrough I'm making a male character just for her. I dislike Josephine.
On another note I would and probably will make an elderly looking bearded dwarf character, just so I can post the romance scene with Iron Bull to facebook. ![]()

I feel your pain. Vivienne would have been an awesome choice. Now she's got some sassyness to match Morrigan!

Vivienne should suddenly forget the decades long relationship she had to see end tragically for the Inquisitor? M'kay.
Don't know her full backstory yet...

I deeeefinitely recommend you play the game fully first before posting on the forums because every area has now become spoileriffic. Also it helps understand why we say x, y and z sometimes. ![]()

Just do Cassandra's romance path. Seriously just do it and then come back. It's probably the best in the game though I've not seen what Cullen has to offer yet. A lot of people are put off by their first impression of her because she's not all long hair and big boobs "Get in bed with me i want your man meat". You need to get to know her and crack her shell to really get to the good parts and she really does have good parts.
I really wanted to do Cassandra's romance quests, but Josephine put out early so I just went her way. Wish I knew that you couldn't end a relationship once you "commit" to another one.
I've heard some pretty interesting things about cassie's romance. All I got from josie was cuddling by the fireplace. When I told her I love you in Val Royeaux, I whispered to myself "You Idiot"

If you think so then that is fine. Doesn't mean everyone thinks so, though.Agreed. Cassandra is however at least an interesting character which Josephine obviously is not. Oh, and spoilers for the straight female romances, if you want to be spoiled and feel 'superior'/better again:
Not to mention that we only got Solas and Cullen AFTER they decided to push the release date back a year and Iron Bull was gated against dwarfs in the beginning - which means that straight female and gay male dwarfs had one option in the beginning.
Girls were simply 'lucky' this time around because the game had more male followers to offer to begin with.

I have hard time finding sympathy. Only straight female characters (who are elf or human) have more options, everyone else has same amount. Still just male gamers whine. And it's always same, women must be this way, I only like women who are like this etc. Games can't always have your ideal type.

as a straight male gamer I like Casandra and Josephine. I haven't done both romances yet but I am rather fond of the characters from my other experinces.

In fairness, you haven't spammed the forum with the same topic, just stayed in the ones already existing.

Yet you already have an opinion on these romances? For characters you don't even know?
So I should wait until I've completed the game before deciding who's of interest or who to romance? It's pretty normal to make a decision like that on first impressions, never mind 20 hours in.

As someone who would like to embrace straight only romance I have only one option available: Cassandra (Josephine is not straight). As male elf who wants to keep his offspring pure and elvish I have no choice at all.
