No, it's really not. If you don't actually know them. I knew everything I needed to know about Morrigan in five minutes of approval farming. That's not how anyone works here.

Hey, I've been complaining too.

Haven't seen it though. I have seen all these threads by straight male gamers who for some reason can't play anything else than straight male characters complaining how straight women get more (without acknowledging that straight male got more options in majority of games). Then I have seen one thread by lesbian player claiming that Sera and Josephine are too masculine and she wants Cassandra instead.

Can we get a sticky with this topic, just to avoid new versions springing up like...springs? (or whatever that expression is. Mushrooms?).

And I say this as a straight male gamer who is not totally enamored by the options in DA:I. (I actually like Cassandra a great deal, but her awkwardness during initial flirting didn't feel right to me, so I thought it best that the Inquisitor and her just stay as friends).

OP - I am not haing a go, I think that everyone is entitled to their opinions, and I don't think people should jump down the throat of someone who feels that the choices on offer are not appealing. I genuinely don't mean any offense. But there have been so many iterations of this topic now...

Fundamentally, there is no way that BioWare can cater for every individual's taste in the romance department. Nor should they try - the characters are there for the story first and foremost - being a romance option should not be a defining characteristic. If you don't like the options I recommend playing without having any romance - the story is still fantastic.

As someone who would like to embrace straight only romance I have only one option available: Cassandra (Josephine is not straight). As male elf who wants to keep his offspring pure and elvish I have no choice at all.

http://forum.bioware...dlc-suggestion/

Er, why can't you romance someone bisexual? My girlfriend is bisexual, and I promise that the rumors about inherent promiscuity or whatever are wholly false.

Wait, wut

Also a Straight Male Gamer, and I have no problem with the options in the game. I do think it's odd that so many of the 9,000 threads complaining about them specifically refer to Cassandra as a "zealot" (which... what?). They also complain about her having short hair, even though -- with the exception of Isabela -- every female romance option in the series to date has had short hair or some kind of updo. And Vivienne, a popular suggested addition, is almost completely bald.

Without getting into details and possible polemics, I will answer: because these are my preferences; especially in the male elf case.

This thread again? Everyone take a drink!

And OP: I'm sorry that you don't like your options. But why make a new thread about this when there's so many other threads discussing the same thing?

Cassandra looked like someone I'd neeeeever romance at first.

Turned out to be the best Bioware romance, ever.

Another thread... This is just beating a dead horse now. Yeah men really got screwed over this time around, the options are terrible. Cassandra is manlier than the gay male option and Josephine is about as interesting as watching paint dry but is it really that big of a deal. Next time around will be better I bet. (I guess this is payback for the situation in ME3)

That's ok, we need someone to call an ambulance when the rest of us are suffering from alcohol poisoning. It's bound to happen if the disappointed straight guys keep this up.

The fact you still get complaints from certain straight male gamers like the OP says a lot at how they're so used to getting the lion's share of... well, not just romances, but a lot of things...

It's primarily an issue of demographics - reading more into it than that says something about you, not people of a different gender/sexuality than yours.

The vast majority of people of all genders and sexuality play the game for the story and characters, not because of the desire for romance options.

Now this is a fair post.

--

Not liking the romance options is fine and all, I doubt that as many people would have attacked the original posters of these complaint threads if they said "I don't like the romance options", "they are unappealing to me" etc. Instead, we got "all the female LIs suck!!11!1", "where are the bewbs?", "can we get a brothel?", "Cassandra is a man", "Bioware only cares about lgbt people, boo ****** hoo". And now people are just exasperated, because one of these threads pops up every few minutes.

It's fine to find Cassandra ugly. It is really not my place to tell people who they should or should not find attractive. I'm not overly enthusiast about any of the romance options either, not because I don't like them as characters or find them unattractive but because I don't think any of them really fits the inquisitor I'm currently playing. Doesn't matter. If you don't like the option you have, don't romance them. It's that simple. Or try roleplaying instead of trying to fullfill a power fantasy. This isn't a dating simulator, there's plenty of stuff to do even if you don't get to have sex with pixels.

[Last thought in regard to Cass being "manly" though, I can't help but chuckle. I've been rather buff since I was a teen, but after cutting my hair from long to a buzzcut I was suddenly "manly", "too muscular" and "not as attractive", and I was like "Dude. I still have the face of a 13 years old girl. I've had these biceps for five years, and you notice now?". Cass has sharp features and a slender body. The only "manly" thing she has is her haircut.]

Well, I've seen her naked. Nothing manly about her :P

Nipples in a Bioware romance, who'da thought? A few years back they still had women wear their bra in the shower.

I play as the perfect version of myself in every RPG I play, Therefore I'm always a straight male character. It's meant to be fun and personally I couldn't enjoy the game as anything else.

Well then you're stuck romancing Josephine (so pretty) or Cassandra (best BW romance to date).

Not bad, man.

I'm starting to feel left out.

I've had no problems with the straight male romance options, but apparently I can kick off a multi-page thread if I complain.

So, uh...Cassandra's scars were clearly superificial and only designed to give her that "Lady of War" appeal without damaging her looks.  I want real, horrifying scarring on my LIs.  Do you hear me, Biovar?

The trouble with Josephine is that there's not nearly enough time to interact with her. The romance scene brouhaha is subjective, but I don't think the lack of interaction, especially romantic interaction, is.

If we go that route, straight women can romance :

- An inexperimented templar paladin. Again. Human & Elf only.

- A bald hobo apostate who breaks your heart. Elf only.

- A dishonest, boring hairy warden.

- A BDSM exubérant Qunari spy. If you're not "into bi" as I saw it somewhere in here, you'll count him out.

(not adding Josy since her """flaws""" have been repeated time and time again. And if you have something against bi, you can count her out as well.)

I'd say, if you play a female dwarf or qunari, you're in the same situation as M!Quisitor. I don't hear that much complains from our fellow gamerz. So, these can't please everyone. The fun thing in videos games is that you can try things independently of your own preferences ; I do that myself. Making a character not being me. Maybe some should try ( not that playing yourself is bad, but you're bound to be disappointed in my opinion). My straight BF is only playing guurls and I never saw the problem. It's his character, not him.

Knowing that Cullen & Solas were added with the extra time, they weren't even supposed to be romanced. That, and BioWare couldn't make Leli' romanced without shitting on DAO. Vivienne isn't romanceable for a very good reason, and you'll probably respect her for that if you take the time to do her quest.

So who do you want to romance ? A brick wall ?

However I'll thanks OP for the tone of his message. Seeing this pop-up for the 5425 time is tiring, but the post was genuine and not an exemple of veiled intolerance . Cookies for you.

Well if someone plays only one thing in a game that's suited to playing many different things in different ways, of course you're going to be limited.

That's not Bioware's fault and something they shouldn't even adress, in my opinion. These games are about having many different options, if you only ever choose one of them that's your problem, not theirs.
