I'm quite curious what people think about this topic.

I'm pretty sure most people will say "The Warden", since he is probably their favourite, but when thinking from a lore perspective I'm quite puzzled about the matter.

Now we all know all three of the characters killed high dragons(with the help of their party members), which already makes them quite amazing, however thinking about their most powerful enemy fought, I'd say The Warden's toughest foe was the Archdemon, and for Hawke and the Inquisitor it would have to be Corypheus. Between the Archdemon and Corypheus I'd say the Archdemon has to be more powerful, since back in ye olden days Corypheus and his buddies used to worship one of the Old Gods.

Talking about the Warden and the Archedemon with his darkspawn buddies fight, the Warden had his party members, an army behind him(choice between Redcliffe soldiers, dwarves/golems, elves/werewolves, templars/mages) and some other allies(Irving, Zethran, Gregoire etc.).

Talking about Hawke and his fight with Corypheus, he only had his party members, but one might say that Corypheus wasn't at his full strength since he woke up from his thousand year hybernation.

Talking about the Inquisitor and his fight with Corypheus, he had his party members. Corypheus might have been at his full strength+ he had the elven orb, however it was stated/assumed he transfered some of his power in the fake Archedemon which was kept busy by Dragon Morrigan/Dragon. So Cory had only a part of his power when fighting the Inquisitor.

Honestly, I don't know who had the toughest job. Although the Archdemon was more impressive, The Warden did have a lot of help, and Corypheus in his encounter with the Inquisitor, must have transfered quite a lot of power into the fake Archdemon to be able to withstand a dragon. I'd say Hawke might have had the toughest fight on his hands. Still I doubt all three of the protagonists displayed their full potential, yet.

What do you guys think?

Lets see, the warden if not a mage only killed an archdemon and is tainted, No special powers. Same for Hawke who couldnt kill an ancient magister.

While the Inquisitor has the Anchor allowing them to open rifts or sew the veil back together, also allowing them to walk safely in the fade and to kill people by opening rifts inside them.

Hawke did actually kill the magister, Cory just revived himself.

In terms of personal badassery, an argument can be made for the Inquisitor: she killed an archdemon-like dragon *and* an ancient semi-ascended magister, in one battle. The Warden or Hawke managed to do only one of those.

In terms of believable leadership, the Inquisitor tops everyone else anyway.

Huge Hawke fanboy but not gonna lie - that rift opening/closing thing alone takes The Inquisitor's power to some other level IMO.

With the Anchor it's obviously the Inky, without it...

I'd say the Warden, because he has the most experience based on timeline.

The fake Archdemon had part of the power of Corypheus, which I doubt is even close to what a real Archdemon can do.

Difficult to say. My main Dual wield warrior warden was super-powerful DPS-wise, had ridiculously good equipment, adjusted stats (cause you know, back then I still could ****ing DO that! :P) and used every opportunity to maximize his own power (think Warden keep DLC and Demon deals).

My main Mage Hawke was also fairly powerful after all the DLCs, perfect equipment, Blood Magic etc.

My Rift/Elemental damage/Utility mage Inq is Lvl 22, has okay Battlemage Dragonbone equipment, an okay stuff and assecoire.

I guess it would come down to terrain. If the Warden closes, both Mages would essentially drop the moment he puts his swords in them.

If they can keep the distance however and slow him down... I guess there's a good chance the Warden would drop before he reaches his target, especially if one wouldn't allow for any healing potions.

Bah the Warden could not even kill Leliana properly...

But I say a Warden that romanced Morrigan is the strongest. Not only dose he kick ass but his women will out wit you?

Comparing the three power-wise is pointless as all three are PCs and would do just as well in their respective games (the only differences between them due to the the vastly different gameplay differences between games). In terms of importance it goes Warden<Hawke<Inquisitor. Any Grey warden can kill an Archdemon and the Blight has been stopped four times before, the HOF gets kudos for doing it in the least amount of time with the least help but it is not an unprecedented event by any means. The Warden also pretty much left the status quo of the world completely in tact. Hawke, unwittingly or not, basically caused the collapse of civilization and ushered in the apocalypse. To Thedas as a whole, not just Ferelden, Hawke had a much larger impact. The Inquisitor stopped the apocalypse and was the only one capable of doing so. The Inquisitor also leads an organization rivaling nations and decided the fates of Orlais, the Templars , Grey Wardens, Mages and functionally picked the new Divine. No contest.

Inquisitor or Hawke.

The Warden is... only good for Darkspawn really.

Hawke is the Champion of a City, and tends to mess things up wherever he/she goes.

The Inquisitor tends to clean up both of their messes.

Not only does the Inquisitor have the power to manipulate fade rifts, but (s)he is the head of an organization that rivals kingdoms, and has the backing of both Orlais and Ferelden. The Inquisitor is also responsible for not only eliminating corypheus, but also the red lyrium dragon he commands.

As a figure and someone with allies to back them, the Inquisitor is the most powerful by far. As a fighter, I'd say the Inquisitor edges out the Warden, and Hawke comes in third. But the latter two didn't become the "Hero" and the "Champion" by buying everyone chocolate muffins. They're three protagonists. Naturally, they're going to be powerful figures with mad skills.

The idea is not to compare them ingame with game mechanics and such, but lorewise in the respective world, with it's physics and limitations. And each of the three protagonists compared as single individuals with their respective skills and not with institution like the Wardens or The Inquisition behind them.

lore-wise, the anchor and elven well plus the army surely are sufficient to bring a mage Inq to almost god-like status and easily crush Warden and Hawke alike.

Warden:

ancient lady of forest / ancient elf

ancient paragon / actual paragon

Loghain

Fade and tower filled with demons

mountain cult

carta

blight - broodmother and corrupted old god

possesed children

optional : Speaking darkspawn, demons

Inquisitor:

cultists

templars/mages

fade

magister + corrupted dragon but with help of another dragon

optional: killing a dragons

Hawke:

deep roads thaig

Arishok

Mage/templars war

Corrypheus

optional: dragons and demons

Only thing which makes Inquisitor stronger is an anchor, but overall is Warden far more experienced. Otherwise you still can`t compare inquisitior which is somehow leading an inquisition with the characters which were not leading at all, Hawke is just a Hawke - wrong time and wrong place, while Warden was using a treaties of already existing organisation in which he/she was just recruited.

But the warden can be king/queen of ferelden. I think in the slides how at the end of origins he can become king of orzimar aswell when harrowmont dies. So it is possible that the warden will have the power of a kingdom, also are we including the companions in thi fight because I think the da:o cast is stronger than the others

I think importance goes with Warden>Hawke>Inquisitor. Remember, if Warden didn't kill the archdemon blight would spread to other lands, unstoppable. Hawke wouldn't happen, Inquisitor wouldn't happen.

In my play though tho, my Elven Arcane Mage Warden who uses blood magic, can use fade without need of an anchor(not close rifts tho) and the first/only known warden to survive killing an archdemon would send back Hawke and Inquisitor crying for their mums.

So for my characters Warden>Inquisitor>Hawke.
