The archdemon is unable to control or manipulate blighted critters that have a will of their own like the Grey wardens, the disciples,The  Architect,ecc..

The red lyrium dragon is imbued with a soul of it's own(the one of Corypheus) so it cannot be controlled  by the Archdemon it answer only to   Corypheus.

The Red Lyrium dragon was just a high dragon with Red Lyrium. It had a soul, yeah, her normal dragon soul, not Cory's soul.

And as Tamlen indicates us, the Archdemon can control intelligent blighted creatures through the "Call of the Old Gods". Only blight creatures free of the Call (like the Architect, Corypheus or the Disciples) or resistant to it (like the Grey Wardens) cannot be controlled by the Archdemon. But the other blighted creatures? They're just part of the horde.

Yeah, but how likely is it that there's a big enough quality difference between the original idol and the rest of it that the original sword without Corypheus's enhancements grants that much more power than the Orb-enhanced sword plus the red lyrium in Samson's body plus the armor? If Bioware actually thought of a reason for this (which we have seen no evidence of) this probably isn't it.

Meredith was self-taught. Samson had Corypheus, who is probably the closest thing to someone who understands red lyrium due to his mastery of both lyrium and the Blight and his knowledge that red lyrium is both, teaching him how to use it. It would be odd for Meredith to understand red lyrium better than he does.

This is the best explanation, but still not a satisfying one. Given how long Meredith was able to go, and how much power she had, you'd think Samson would have taken that risk when things really started not going his way at the Well.

That isn't necessarily about quantity but about quality. If you compare Samson sword and Meredith sword it doesn't look if it has much of red lyrium if at all when Meredith sword almost half of the sword was covered by red lyrium.Meredith sword glowed when she was using it in case of samson it never did.Where lyrium on the armor was usued to boost his defence (you will notice similar to meredith sword, meredith and her surroundings glowing just to much lesser extent) rather than other purposes and if what im saying in that case is true then it's just normal red lyrium that isn't as potent as idol was.

Somehow i doubt Corypheus was mentoring Samson he is master type that gives you orders rather than mentor type, besides even if Corypheus had theoretical knowledge about properties of the red lyrium doesn't mean he had practical knowledge about skills that it grants you.Meredith vast experience as a templar could greatly contribute to achieving greater control.

Here i agree, i think if he could do as far meredith he would.

This may require a topic of it's own a single sword of red lyrium was far more powerful than an entire set armor of red lyrium.

Maybe the idol was not simple red lyrium?

I remember that Corypheus put a part of his soul inside that dragon in order to bind it and when it is killed his soul jumped on Corypheus.

Asunder the book?DOn'tthey follow the standard dalish elf female for the books?

They follow the "let's keep things vague and say only stuff that can apply to all HoFs regardless of which Origin was chosen".

Still, Wynne pretty much states that the HoF was on his/her lonesome more formidable than the Archdemon itself.

I suspect that Gaider realized that given Origin's structure (straightforward power-fantasy about the player-controlled hero going from one unlikely victory to the next while growing steadily stronger until even the most unlikely of triumps ceased to look surprising), the HoF only made sense as a freak of nature who made the hard look easy and the near-impossible look enjoyable and decided to run with it.

Now we all know all three of the characters killed high dragons(with the help of their party members), which already makes them quite amazing, however thinking about their most powerful enemy fought, I'd say The Warden's toughest foe was the Archdemon,

Unless you count Loghain et. al. and the Ferelden Civil War that the Warden had to overcome.

But unless your question is strictly limited to combat badassery, Hawke isn't even a contender.

If you mean power in terms of influence, The Inquisitor would win hands-down - although the Inquisitor's influence may be short-lived, whereas the Warden's is ongoing. The Warden determined the fate and leadership of several factions (including an entire country), and if s/he survived, became the Arl of Amaranthine as well as the Warden-Commander of Ferelden, having restored the GW's reputation there. The status of the Inquisitor's ongoing influence post-Trespasser is questionable.

Warden hands down, he was a self made man, who went from rags to riches, who determined the fate of 2 Kingdoms, placed 2 rulers on their thrones and wields influence with both of them, has an army of Dalish or Werewolves at his back, as well as potentially an army of Golems as well.

He has a potential ally withing the Darkspawn, and it was his actions that allowed others to live and do their thing.

Inquisitor is a man who was in a wrong place at the wrong time, he got the mark by accident, he got put in charge of a huge organisation by the same accident .

Hawke doesnt even enter into it
