I'm starting a new playthrough as a rogue, and i'm thinking that i should give myself and the other rogues tier 4 ranger, summon 2 creatures each, and beat everything in sight (not to mention the fact that i take advantage of the tactics exploit for those summons).  I  think id mainly have wynne as the 4th party member for haste, mass rejuvenation, and group heal
Does this seem like a good party build?

Anything your animals kill does not reward your group experience. Other than that, hf zerging darkspawns.

Your party can't have more than one summoned creature at a time (whether it's a ranger summon or a skeleton). Well, without glitching/modding the game at least.

As Snorepoke says, only one pet at a time. Sorry. However, rogues do rule. At least, with a two-rogue party on my last playthrough, Zevran + PC rogue and often with ranger summon, we kicked ass.

Each ranger can have a pet without a mod or it gliching on the PC. You can also select each pet separately or as a group. I used this setup in my last playthrough (Human Noble rogue) and my current playthrough(City Elf Rogue). By level 17 or 18 you can summon blight wolves, three great bears, three poisonous spiders or a mixture. The PC and companions can sit back with range weapons and ping away.

I've heard conflicting points on two subjects with regard to multiple rangers in a party. Is there anyone with direct experience (xbox version prefferably) who can clarify whether:

A) Two rangers in a group can each summon a pet

B) Whether the whole party gets EXP for pet kills

C) Whether having 3 rangers plus your dog is just too crazy to pull off.

Thanks.

A) You cannot summon more than 1 pet, regardless whether they are different types, on console version. I've been reading that PC versions can.

B) I've seen a lot confirmation on exp bug.

C) Not exactly sure what you mean.

A)I know one character can't summon more than 1 pet. But if I make the other to rogues in party into rangers, can't each character summon it's own pet?

B) I've heard some say that while you don't see the EXP in game with the pet, you actually get it still.

C) 3 Rangers + 3 pets + dog = furry freakiness!

B) edit: I probably don't know what I'm talking about regarding to this.

C) mmk.

You can definitly summon more than one pet per ranger; ive done it.

All you have to do is select another pet for your ranger to summon while they are in the process of summoning one. You are however limited to just 2 pets for this glitch.

I did this all the time on my previous playthroughs.

Plus if u rlly have the patience, putting tactics down for each makes all 6 pets doubly effective.

What he's asking is if you can let Leliana summon a pet and Zevran another. This is impossible on consoles. It is also impossible for consoles to use the multiple pets from same ranger glitch you mentioned.

I've done both on the PC. Three rangers each with one pet, for a seven person party is doable and not a glitch. It's a lot of fun to have four spiders in the party in Denerim (3 ranger pets + Morrigan). It just isn't very practical.

Having two pets out at once for the same ranger is also possible. However, that save of my game was corrupted. It may have been related to an unrelated issue, but my playthrough of that fight without the double petting was flawless.

For testing purposes, I used a saved Denerim street encounter. It's a fight I've done way too many times so I know what's supposed to happen.

Ok, on the PC, with patch 1.02 and no mods, rangers DO get experience from what your pet kills. It doesn't show up as scrolling text on the screen, but if you check your experience before and after getting a kill exclusively from the pet, it shows up. 355 exp before, 373 after.

The console versions of DAO have limitations that the PC version does not. I have been checking on both platforms. A buddy has DAO on the PS3. He is only able to summon one pet for the entire party. The ranger cannot summon multiple pets on the consoles that is a PC glitch. In fact on the PC you can have up to nine pets (three per ranger) using a glitch and having Wynne cast Revival. Doing this may corrupt your save. The PC version (patch to 1.02) gives you experience for each pet kill. Console no.

I haven't tried to summon multiple pets, but I have to chime in that my PC Rogue along with Leliana, Zev & Alistair is quite possibly the most fun I have had in a battle. They're simply unrelenting and the comments during battle are priceless. I find it hard to go out without that exact party every time.

Wow no mage?
I'd have a hard time (I play on hard) without any magic

The point is to have your pet(s) attack the mages while your party uses range attacks to back them up. The target is to busy fighting off the pet(s) to target your party with spells. If they are targeting your party with spells the pets are eating away at their health points.
The enemy will also attack the pets trying to protect the mage. The enemy mage has a tendency to drop fireballs on the pets but that means the mage and any enemy near the pets get hit. If a pet dies you can summon another. On the PC version you can have three rangers (PC, Zervan and Lelianna). So you can have three pets (blight wolf, great bear or poisonous spider) by level 17-18.

I haven't played on hard yet - just a couple times on normal. I'm sure that playing on hard will make a big difference in my party choices!
