I killed him. Looted the body. And I breezed through this fight so fast, I.wasn't sure if he was dead. I mean he was dead before his minions were. Nothing he offered was anything the Inquisitor couldn't get or already have.

You can. You need a blank rune stone and 6 pure red lyrium. My DW rogue is redeeming all of her deaths from earlier in the game with a couple of daggers doling out 401 damage each thanks to these runes.

So I just fought what was possibly the longest most boring boss fight I've ever fought. He throws up barriers every few seconds. He frequently got trapped behind the forcefields sealing the arena, and when I finally got him down to his last bit of health what happens? He Disappears! I'm raging right now, and have no intention of redoing this fight. Did anyone else have any techincal issues with Ismael or would just like to give their opinion of the battle?
There are ways to decrease the amount of time fighting him. I beat him in less than five minutes. As a Knight-Enchanter (or having Vivienne in the party and equipped with a staff that does extra barrier damage) I was doing 2000 or so damage to his guard and barrier per hit. He would bring it up, only for it to be brought down again in seconds.

I got tired of the adds tearing Sera and Solas apart so I just dropped a Mark of the Rift on them. Took about a minute to wrap up after that.

was going to reload to test the drops and such, but I hate red lyrium. Thought to just google that, he is the most fun boss imo for his character. I am just going to kill him and work massive damage with my team, forget deals

The first time I played it seemed to took forever (rogue) but I was fairly low level as it was the first place I went after Haven. Second time it was over in a min or so with my Mage, Warrior also went quick. I plan to play another rogue sometime soon and will see if it is easier once I am at least a a bit higher level.
