I'm just curious, how have they handled those? My rogue Hawke had her bow during the Skyhold scenes (which made me happy, as she had been an archer), but during the missions  she only used double-daggers.

From what I know, no tile or flag for the weapon spec exists in the Keep.  Was it random? The only logic I can think of is replaying the NwN trick. It's when the previous PC is defined by the current one (e.g. Hero of Neverwinter is referenced as 'she' if the SoU\HotU  character is female).  Probably it's same here, and that DW Inq defined the Hawke's weapon class for me? Or may be not.  :)

I dunno how it works. My Hawke was 2H warrior but she used sword & shield in Inquisition, which as kinda lame for me, ruined part of my immersion.

Don't know how it works.  I rolled an rogue archer Hawke in DA2.  In most of the cutscenes, she shows up with 2H daggers on her back.  However, there were at least some shots, I believe in game, depicting her with the bow.

I played with a Mage Inquisitor and had a Rogue Hawke she showed up with daggers but when I saved and loaded it back up she had a bow & arrow. I loaded a save before I customized Hawke and she had her daggers back. I then tested this out in the Western Approach, she switched weapons again.

My Hawke started off as an archer, but was using daggers at Adamant and in the Fade. I was disappointed to see that they were just regular daggers, rather than the signature Finesse design. I guess there's only room for one hero to ever use them, since my Inquisitor got to craft a set of her own.

I was wondering this myself, my 1st playthrough was with a mage Mawke, and I kept thinking what weapons she would use if she were a warrior/rogue.

If it's based on the Inquisitor's weapons, what happens if you cross class? My 2nd playthrough will have warrior Hawke and rogue (archery) Inquisitor.

My first playthrough was a Warrior Hawke. He showed up Sword and Board which was fine by me because that was what he was in DA2. It got kind of comical though because my Inquisitor was also one, as was Cassandra, and the accompanying Warden. But Solas and Varric never had a chance at getting any aggro which was nice. xD

My second playthrough was a 2H Inquisitor and a Mage Hawke. I didn't see her fire off any spells beyond the default fire staff attacks, but I do recall she was doing decent damage regardless.

I'm just at the part where Hawke shows up at my third playthrough (haven't had the time to fix his face) and he was a rogue there, so I'll be interested to see if he does any weapon-swapping or anything like that.

Regarding the equipment, I was a little surprised that Hawke didn't have an Amell or Kirkwall shield instead of a plain reinforced one. I just handwaved that as Hawke trying to stay inconspicuous, but as usual, isn't thinking about the fact that his armour screams 'Look at me! I'm the Champion of Kirkwall!' He's a busy man. He doesn't have time to go shopping. ;D The mage used the 'Staff of Parlathan' model...but it seems to be the new default (Which I think is a positive. I was worried it would be 'Malcolm's Honour' or even 'Freedom's Promise.' I cannot take that guy seriously waving that staff around, he just looks ridiculous). Too bad about the rogue daggers, though, Finesse was pretty neat.

EDIT: First time meeting Rogue!Hawke...and he has no weapons at all. Weird.

Aw, mine was supposed to be an archer but had daggers. Then again the first Hawke I imported completely forgot how to heal >_<

My Hawke was a 2H warrior but showed up wielding a sword and shield.   :(   I played an Archer inquisitor.

It seems they just swap between weapon sets throughout the plot arc to depict both possibilities, even if your Hawke may not have any idea of how to use the other weapon set in DA 2. We do know they do not directly import saves and don't provide you a choice in the Keep to specify Hawke abilities, so that may be their way of trying to get around it.

I wondered about this for some time now. Strangely enough, it seems that whenever I reload a game, he switches from double daggers to bow, though not the other way around.

My Hawke was S & S in DA2, and has showed up with those weapons in both my playthroughs so far.  My Inquisitor was a dual wield rogue and a archer rogue.

I've never had Warrior Hawke carry a 2H weapon.

Every time I play through Inq with a Rogue Hawke she always carry daggers before and in Crestwood and a bow in Adamant.

And oddity however, when I arrive at the ritual shrine in Western Approach she carrys a bow initially but switches to daggers after Erimond flees.

I saw my DW rogue Hawke switch between daggers and a bow several times during combat, depending on enemy range.

They should have IMO added a weapon choice to the character creation.

Hawke didn't use any of her signature spells. Especially the one where she sticks the entire staff through her chest.

It was wierd to see my Hawke without Glandivalis and her Amell family shield; especially since it appears all of Southern Thedas has copies of the shield laying about.

Sadly the game currently doesn't let us declare anything further than class in the keep so the answer is no, why Hawke doesn't have their key weapon though is sort of a mystery since its the closest he had to the legendary weapons the warden crafted.

I would say though that the keep really should add further mosaics/tapistries for the pc so you could declare this stuff.

Warrior and Rouge would have their weapon types for base choice while Mages chose their primary magic tree.  Specializations should probably also have a part, even if its only for purely being shown on the tapestry.

Well, that one would be an odd fit with her whole "Blood magic is evil!!!" thing

My Hawke is a mage, so there should be no problem. Nevertheless, I was a little disappointed to see they didn't equip her with her father's staff (the one you find and enhance in Legacy). I thought it would have made sense. Still, Hawke and my Inquisitor happen to have the same staff when they met (the one with the skull on top, which resembles the Apostate's Pride you could buy at the Black Emporium back in Da2) and that was amusing enough.

My rogue Hawke did the same; but luckily stuck with his bow for the entire Fade scene.

I just headcanon the daggers are the murder knife, which an archer would use at melee range in DA2 - good times. I always liked that idea. My inquisitor even has an ambient one in his belt, but still blithely keeps nocking arrow after arrow at point blank range.

Yeah, like my Viscount Hawke used Fadeshear and the Lion of Orlais... So seeing her with that boring shield instead of the Lion of Orlais sheild is like... :(

Sort of a side question sorry, do we know if Hawke scales to the player's level? I can stand Hawke having a different weapon if he/she can still at least hold their own with what they have
