2H Hawke will always show up with a sword and shield. I've had her on a few PTs. My inq is also a 2H warrior.

I think in Crestwood, he was using dual daggers. Then I had to reload, suddenly he had a bow. I think it is random.

Yeah my rogue Hawke was constantly walking around with a bow, but she always used daggers in combat. Forever disappointed that they're just regular daggers though.

No kidding, were the heck are iconic weapons? Like Finesse. The only Hawke that get's an cool weapon is mage Hawke. Myabe modders will change that one day.

It bugged me even more that the Finesse model exists in this game, and my rogue Inquisitor was actually equipped with them.

Then again, I don't think Hawke's supposed to be any help at all. It's a nice touch that they don't stick with the video game trope I'd propose to call "rain check master" or basically "advertised uberstrong veteran character always finds excuse to not join you in combat", but on the other hand, it would make for more weirdness if they were actual factors in combat.

If both Hawke & Stroud/Alistair would be full blown characters equipped with their classes' usual skillset, you'd have a six people party.

Furthermore, in my first ever playthrough, I didn't even realize Leliana follows you around and is present in combat versus the first boss demon in the prologue.

Yeah I didn't notice this until my second playthrough. You can also revive her if she falls in combat.

There are only three segments in the  game where extra characters actually help from what I've seen.

Cullen at the Arbor Wilds

Cullen during Samson quest, he  is super efficient there, his AI actually works.

Hawke and Straud/etc in the Fade before the final battle there, the two of them killed the 2 Pride demons for me.

Leliana in prologue aims at walls.

That's why I think it would have been a cool touch for Hawke to be an controlable party member during the assault at Adamant. That way we could actually give Hawke some fancy weapons.

It would have been even cooler for it to stay that way; and maybe leave the Inquistor in the Fade because Stroud is the only Warden left with half a brain, but that's just me :x

P.S.: I do not hate the Inquisitor. At least not the one I ended up declaring canon. This was humorous. No need for defensive posts. I also like the Warden. I really do.

Leaving the Inquisitor behind in the Fade would be an interesting game over.

Stroud: Inquisitor, you can't stay behind. Thedas needs you!

Inquisitor: Just go!

Hawke: But...aren't you the only one that can close the rifts?

Inquisitor: Huh, you know I keep forgetting about that.

Well, the anchor closes rifts.

It's not like the Maker gave him two hands just to be stingy...

Hawke switched between daggers and bow in one of my playthroughs, which I felt was fair enough.

I took greater umbrage to the fact Hawke (and most other returning characters) were saddled with the dullest looking weapons in the game. Is it so hard to give a them poor guys a decent looking blade, bow or a shield with an emblem on it?

Sort of a side question sorry, do we know if Hawke scales to the player's level? I can stand Hawke having a different weapon if he/she can still at least hold their own with what they have

-D-

Not sure if Hawke scales, but I can't imagine her being lower level than the enemies.

My rogue Hawke had a bow(correct) in her Skyhold scene, but in combat she was a DW (fade included). Same for 2nd PT. It's either random or a weird 'solution' to show her with both options, so that she has it right at least in some scenes. I wish we could specify the weapon choice, random weapon of a proper style is still better than wrong one.

Hawke Changes weapons each loading screen I think. Switched between weapons during reloads. Has used bow and daggers in combat. Unfortunately uses mook ai aka no abilities.

Is it the Tiger's Tail? That's the default high end staff Hawke gets in DA2.

I was (sort of) annoyed that my Hawke didn't have Orsino's staff. From the moment I saw it in DA2 I wanted that staff it looked so freaking baller. I equipped that thing like I was starving and had just been given a sprinkle donut. And yet she had some weird staff for then, kind of odd.

It's a shame S&S Hawke didn't have the Amell Shield
