I love the "sports team" mentality people have for games vs games. Dai is better than skyrim and it was unplayable on only sells due to mods. Bs. Theres a reason why its being marked down. Its not selling like they hoped

Skyrim Still a top seller on xbox. Dai on older consoles has tons of warts. Sure there were broken missions on skyrim and strange things happen but it worked on day 1 on my 360 and with dlc i played it a lot longer than da2. I then got it on steam and wiw it got even better.

Fallout 4 hype is real. People create fake websites just to be part of the hype.

Skyrim was very, very buggy when it was released, though. It had serious issues with consoles, especially PS3. PC version was a bit better, but not much. It is a good game, I'm not saying otherwise, but DA:I was released in much better shape than Skyrim was.

But in the end only the sales matter. Hopefully this one sells well.

I think dais flaws will be

A-doesnt appeal to first person shooter crowd. Skyrim did . Best rpg of going from 3rd to first person.

B-easier to play. Combat can be simplified, play as you like, more healing. I would argue it was a huge mistake to go so hardcore on healing. Went on a mission last night on easy setting. I spent the last part of boss battle running around reviving fallen companions and lots of praying/cursing. Easy mode should be easy. For some of these missions you also cant say wow that demon is too powerful im going to leave the castle and come back. Lot of them the door is locked and better hope you have a save just prior. But wait we limited your saves ...

When in dao i first fought flemeth etc i figured out

A i should stock up on potions
B stay out of her reach and let shale mix it up with her and i have a mage revive/heal

Last night i tried the same thing. Brought in 2 tanks a mage and rogue. Demon was really tough and we were locked in

DAO sold at 3.5 million
DA2 sold at 2 million
DAI sold at 1.5 million

DA:O sold 3.2 million during its first 3 months on the market according to an EA press release. I assume that they must have sold something like 5 or 6 million copies of the game by now. Why? Because it is a good game.

Hot on the heels of that huge success, DA2 sold 1 million copies in 2 weeks according to Bioware. Sales probably plummeted after the word got out that the game isn't any good, because newer official numbers have not been revelaed since then, not to mention that there was never an official press release from EA.

There are NO OFFICIAL numbers for DA:I. No, VGChartz is NOT a reliable source. For all we know DA:I could have sold 500k or 2000k copies. EA and Bioware do know how good (or bad) the game is selling, but since they are not releasing any official numbers, one can assume that they could be good be good, but are almost certainly not amazing.

those are the retailer numbers, so doesnt say how much are still on the shelves. Considering the budget, DAI would need to outsell DAO & DA2 combined to be a full success.

source is Wikipedia

Only EA's or Bioware's numbers are correct. Any other numbers are unreliable estimates. NPD's numbers are somewhat reliable, but they don't include PC or digital sales.

Why is it in quotation marks? And what is considered to be selling poorly?

The game will turn a profit.  How much, I'm not sure since we don't know the budget for it.  I have sources (not vgchartz) that estimate DAI at about 1.5m physical copies for first week worldwide based on relative marketshare for the major retailers.  This is a conservative estimate, doesn't count digital sales, and it's not unrealistic to expect the game to have broken 2 million physical, across all platforms, by now - again, not counting digital.

Then there's the crowd that will pick up DAI in a month or two after they've finished FarCry or GTA or Mordor, but just didn't have the money all at once for two games in the same week or month.

It's important to remember that, first three months, Bioware is typically around 2-3 million.  We're not dealing with FPS style, but RPG, so that limits the market some since a player has to invest several weeks of time into the game (not sure about you, but most people I know only play games in 2-4 hour chunks if that).

Well for the record i get a ps4 and pc version, both digital so add two to whatever numbers you scrubs are debating over. Game is money and if people don't know now they will in time i'm sure.

There are so many little problems with the game that they add up to just make it an annoying experience.  I liked my time with it, but I'll not play it again.  I would not recommend the game on PC, where I played it.  I only finished the game because of fatigue from playing it, after a huge initial excitement.  I still had a ton of content left, which isn't always a good thing.  I would have taken two or three less of those hubs (and much less Hinterlands) for more reactive choices in each hub, more clear signs that I'm impacting the world, more branching storylines and decision making, and at least one large city with side stuff in it (perhaps a better Val Royeaux).  More doesn't always mean better, and this was a Skyrim issue as well.  And Skyrim feels entirely different anyway because no one is playing just for plot.  I think it's a highly overrated game which capitalizes on some similarity to FPS games due to the perspective.  The strength of that game is being able to wander into a dungeon and have a challenge.  This game allegedly wants to tell a story, so taking design from such a different game and shoehorning it in here isn't a great idea.  And the side content of that game, for all its missing depth, is expansive.  The Thieve's Guild stuff alone is a ton of stuff and feels more comprehensive than any side quest in this game except for Crestwood perhaps, which is kind of mandatory.

The same fatigue issue could not be said of Skyrim, though that is a game with many of its own problems (and some of those problems carry over into this game in a big way).  Like how doing Daedric quests affects virtually nothing.  Oblivion had more depth than Skyrim, and Morrowind more than both.  Oblivion, one example of depth is how when you reached a certain skill level you would seek out a special master trainer.  That felt cool.  That's what depth is.  The game recognizing you and your choices or achievements.  Slight dialog changes is not depth, or at least it's not satisfying.

The game should feel like it has a lot going on underneath, and Skyrim is an entirely surface level experience.  Skyrim lacks depth in a huge way, and this game surprisingly has the same problems.  The majority of the content feels like it exists in a different world than the main quests.  The game isn't even shy about framing it like this on the War Table.  Do enough boring side stuff for "power" and we'll give you the treat of a well-executed main mission.  Side content is fun because it actually feels like it's on the side, and because it too has some value.  The dragon fights in Skyrim and portals of Oblivion bore me the same way the rifts eventually did (though the portals to Oblivion were way cooler than rifts for many reasons).  The number of rifts you close should be vitally important, and if it was I would've wanted to do more of them.

The side areas function like an MMO, not just the Hinterlands.  Fine, but at least give this world some depth.  I need to be reminded constantly of the things I did and the change on the world should be visible and important.  The biggest problem in MMO's is that the world is stagnant and seems unchanging, and the same can be said of this game.  Even quests like destroying red lyrium deposits.  The red lyrium is still there!!!!  You destroy the tiniest amount of it.  This kind of thing is constant  It's just depressing to see.  There should've been much larger sidequests with much larger implications that were mentioned in the ending.

The illusion of choice comes back in the biggest way possible.  I'll avoid more for the sake of no spoilers.

There are literally dozens and dozens of problems I've had with the game, not to mention the bugs and horrible control scheme of the PC (and a weak PC port in general).  Many problems are from flawed design philosophy.  I don't like the skill trees given the 8 skill limit, the switch to guard/barrier, the arbitrary potion limit, the horrendous AI (which is the worst problem in the whole game), and many, many specific issues with classes, areas, story logic, etc.  I didn't like the ending much and it isn't very understandable or that logical.  If the AI didn't ruin the gameplay, I might still play in spite of all these problems.  Part of Skyrim's charm is that the gameplay can be played in so many ways, and that it isn't distinctly buggy to play a certain way.  The bugs are actually fun in the game because you don't rely on AI to make combat work (enemy AI issues are far less egregious than team AI issues in any game, be it an NBA game or any other.  DA:I is another example of this ringing true).

But many others are just things like no tooltip information on PC about skills.  No info on how much longer a status will last.  It just seems like the game didn't go through any QA, because these are things I saw instantly, or very shortly in the course of only one playthrough.  It's not a great game.  It's an okay game because of production values, but it plays like a bad game.  Gameplay is ultimately king, and on PC at least the gameplay is just not that great because of how gamebreaking the AI is.  And I'm omitting tons of class specific qualms here that I could be talking about as well.

I've had the game for 2 weeks tomorrow and I'm about 70 hours in so that's averages out to 5 hours a day. I don't get much time to play during the week so most of that would be taken up over weekends. I might play 10-14 hours straight on a Saturday or Sunday if I have nothing else on.

Quality over quantity, buddy.

Which means nothing unless we specify how much quality and how much quantity. Even if I like DAI more than DA2, I'm pretty sure I don't like it twice as much.

To answer the OP: From my knowledge, and the places I look...

My retailer is listing DA:I for PC as a top seller across all platforms. That's just that one store, even if it's arguably the biggest in the country.

Here's the thing: I'm enjoying it and so far, yes, I am loving it more than Skyrim.  To me, that's all that matters.

That being said, I see this advertised on multiple websites and reviewers are singing it's praises.  People from IGN Facebook groups have been singing it's praises too and have been putting a lot of time into the game.  So, I extrapolate that to mean that it's selling well.

However, sales numbers aren't required to validate how I personally feel about the game.

I wouldn't be surprised if a surge of copies have recently been bought, as someone on Facebook recently posted there was a South Park episode based at least partially around DA:I's release.

Better make a patch and release a press announcement about it. I know a few good hardcore RPG gamers who got turned off by these so-called "bugs" (which i still havent encountered in my PC playthrough) and are holding off their purchase.

The sooner they get fixed, the faster these gamers drop their wallet without a thought.

There was nothing wrong with ME3's ending.  It requires you to think about the deeper/hidden meaning of the story told throughout the series.  Is it how I would have ended it?  Probably not.  That doesn't make it bad.

I challenge people to go through the trilogy thinking about the story at a deeper level than "shoot hostile things, try to save galaxy. "

Now, back to DAI.

Just a quick remark about previous Dragon Age games. You can tell a lot by looking at how much the game costs. I was pretty damn late to the whole Dragon Age pary, by the time I got to play Origins Mass Effect 3 was already on its way. However, DA:O was still being sold for about the same price as after the release. Dragon Age 2, on the other hand, I bought at the Origin store for about... 4 dollars? Note that I'm living in Russia and prices are different here, but still, that's really really cheap. Which means of course that DA:O was still in high demand while people got disillusioned with DA2.

Speaking about Inquisition... There is a lot of controversy and I can understand where it comes from. The game is uneven and the margin between "good game with issues" and "bad game with some good stuff" is at times very slim and very subjective. I'd say that a lot depends now on DLCs, patches and such.

you should tell these supposed hardcore rpg gamers that they need to get with the times, and no game since the dawn of the CD based game has ever been released completely bug free, glitches and bugs exist in video games, in programming in general, if they can be they get fixed, if they can't oh well, we have another missingo on our hands.

I am finding the world immersive. I love the characters in it, and so far I love the story. I know the grinding goes along with fantasy RPGs. It always has. I hope the game sells well because Bioware deserves this.

The PC version will get patched and all will be fine.

Remember the PS3 version of Skyrim was unplayable for months before Bethesda was able to get a working patch done. A patch for PC won't be the case.

However, from what I'm reading elsewhere in the forum, using a 360 controller instead of a KB-M on the PC does help a lot. I'm playing the game on the 360 and loving it.

Oh man i though I am the only gamer on the planet that actually likes ME3 ending. Sure it could be better but definitely should not be a reason for so many raging about It. Best space opera ever.

I am a PC gamer and Skyrim was a blast since release, never had a problem with It, lots of bugs but not gamebraking. DA:I on the other hand have a few bugs and design issues that I just can not accept:

Banterr and music bug is killing the essence of playing the game

K+M controls are a joke
Interface is a joke + tactical camera

If they fix It I will play. I will wait even half a year couse really what is the difference if I play now or later? Have others games to play so its cool. Problem is that just should not happened
