I didn't imply it was in a working state. I explicit said it was in a semi-working state, which it is.

Well, if its semi working then I guess its a good thing they released it.

If this game isnt selling, its probably because if you look past the paid reviews and the fanboys on reddit, people are having major issues running or playing this game.

And people talk to each other. If enough people tell their friends the game doesnt work, they wont buy it, regardless of what the extreme haters or blind fanboys say on the internet.

I think people vastly underestimate just how much of the 4 years here was getting FB3 in a semi-workable state to design an RPG on. I think a 3 year release window for the next DA game on a similar budget as this one will lead to a huge leap forward in quality.

If this were the case, then hopefully the next installment wont take as many resources and time as DA:I did. :)

The next installment of dragon age will likely have an entirely female/trans cast and take place in one of the Arabian themed provinces.

I hang out at several gaming related communities, and none of them have major issues running DAI. It has some minor glitches and annoyances, but game breaking issues are few and far between.

With most of the design elements and basic art assets in place in Frostbite 3, I would expect that they will push another game out within 2 years (unless this one does so horribly that they shelve the entire franchise, which I doubt). I just hope they spend some time sorting out the tactics system and tactical cam so its not as halfassed as it is in DAI.

That's nice, but this thread is about sales, not about which type of game makes you cry most.

I get that Bioware's diehard fans like the way Bioware does business, the problem is there just aren't enough of you to get them to the kind of sales numbers their competitors are capable of. If EA are happy for Bioware games to consistently hit 2-few million sales then sure, they're fine continuing with this model. If they have designs on getting close to Bethesda/Rockstar numbers then they need to appreciate why they always fall short and address it.

So? Dragon Age doesn't make EA as rich as other franchises. Totally agree that this is the case. It's much more profitable to chuck out one dull Assassin's Creed after another once a year.
I merely stated how awful capitalism is. And that I hope Bioware will not completetly go down that route.
They must be doing okay though if they can shell out this kind of money for DAI graphics and map scope...

But make no mistake, Bioware/EA always try to emulate these popular franchises while being careful not to completely alienate their fan base.
Everything they did since ME1 and DAO that people hated was about dumbed down game mechanics for the casual gamer crowd or short development time and recycled maps to save money.
Everything people feel is wrong about recent Bioware games is because of what you're promoting here.

Capitalism kills art, kills any kind of creativity.
But games are ridiculously expensive to make these days. So they DO have to keep sales in mind. That's why I hope that DAI sells well. So that they can continue to make games that appeal to me.
Video games are not charity. Even the most idealistic game developer will have to compromise. So far Bioware is still in balance to me. And not all the changes were bad. I find many gamers much too harsh in their criticism.
But they are not wrong to worry about the future of Bioware games. Everything goes to sh*t eventually because of capitalism.
Sorry, I don't mean to rant but your business proposal is the reason most games are generic garbage now.

How can you imply that this game is in a working state with a straight face?

Why imply? It is in a working state. Far better than any of the other similar RPGs I've played right out of the box (heck, the Bethesda is notorious for requiring heavy patching to get its quests working right, for example). For the vast majority of us, the game works fine, and what bugs they are don't get in the way of it being in a "working state".

Some people may not be able to look past certain bugs, or may be some of the unfortunate few with actual game breakers, but the vast majority just shrug it off and keep playing. This game is so good that it is pretty easy to gloss over the bugs (especially knowing that there will be patches) and enjoy yourself.

As for how the game is doing, something tells me it is going to do great. Even Penny Arcade can't stop writing about how awesome DAI is, with Tycho basically writing it was a genre-defining masterpiece. You can't buy publicity that good... and he's playing on PC. :)

Finally, DAI also manages to be in the perfect spot for the holiday season. No real competition in the genre, time for a patch or two before Xmas, released for Thankgiving.

It'll do fine. Don't let forum noise make you think the game is struggling and people hate it. It's not, and they don't. Game forums naturally fill up with negativity on any game release because the people with problems will be more vocal than those who are content, and that's not even accounting for trolls. The more popular a game is, the worse the negativity will be.

100 hours in on Xbox One I encountered my first bug that held me up for a time.

(Astrarium Emerard Graves west, image did not match with what the star pattern was looing for.)

I'm sad from the PC Kb/M players, but this is a great game.

At this moment I hope they go bankrupt, so that they can never inflict garbage like inquisition on any one ever again.  Let the Bioware name fade away with some dignity.

I try not to attack people personally, but you're ignorant.  Without capitalism there would be no creativity because there would be no profit incentive.  I am not going to sit here and say that capitalism is always perfect all the time, but to say it stifles creativity?  That is just incorrect.  What is your favorite game of all time?  It wouldn't even exist without a free market.

That's pretty much a given. EA certainly didn't expect such numbers. That's like trying to match WoW or some such. Just can't happen, Skyrim just hit the perfect storm: right product at the right place and the right time.

That said, DAI is bloody awesome. :)

If he isn't implying it, I'm outright saying it. Two and a half playthroughs and I've maybe crashed to desktop twice. No other problems.

Obviously experiences will vary, but given that myself and my friends on various platforms haven't run into any game-breaking issues, I doubt that they are truly as rampant as the echo chamber here would have you believe.

Yea EA knows this game isn't going to do Skyrim numbers.  Very few games do (GTA, Call of Duty and not many more).  But EA budgets Dragon Age based to be profitable with a few million sales.  You can bet they want Skyrim numbers, but party based tactical rpg's aren't necessarily for the masses like a first person action rpg.
