I see so much praise for it on forums. I personally think this game is the pinnacle of WRPGs and blows away Skyrim who a lot hold as the gold standard the past few years. Yet, I see no news of EA bragging about sales on this game and I see deals for it already. It's leading me to believe it's not selling well if it's already seeing steep discounts. I take that back. [...] Metacritic has a ton of homophobic trolls in their reviews but yeah, for the most part it's high praise everywhere.

The game sucks. It is the worst game Bioware has made to date IMO. And that is despite the fact that it is stuffed full of homosexual content to pander to those 3-5% of LGBT gamers.

You broke your capslock key over a couple of gay romances, and he's the one who's butthurt. Ok.

Did you get the deluxe version? So much gay was exclusive to the deluxe version. So much.

The OP said that the game is getting bad ratings because of the gay content, I am saying that that is not the case.... Man, you guys are really terrible readers, I am very disappointed. But you are very good at SJWing, that's for sure.

BTW did you even click on the link? It is only about the gameplay, homosexual content wasn't mentioned.

I still read "gay" as "jolly, cheerful, happy". You know, like it's original meaning :D

And sorry if I misunderstood your post, Dlux.

It didn't look like a link to me, actually. I thought you were just underlining for emphasis.

I try not to attack people personally, but you're ignorant.  Without capitalism there would be no creativity because there would be no profit incentive.  I am not going to sit here and say that capitalism is always perfect all the time, but to say it stifles creativity?  That is just incorrect.  What is your favorite game of all time?  It wouldn't even exist without a free market.

I don't want to take this off-topic, but - wow.

Creativity has nothing to do with profit incentive.  If it did, there would be no such thing as starving artists, or great ideas that never come to fruition because financial managers don't believe the resulting product or service would be profitable.

Also, cost =/= value.  Water is ultra-cheap / free, but we cannot survive without it.  That $5 box of breakfast cereal cost about $0.25 to manufacture, a lot more to advertise, and the contents have less nutritional value than the packaging.

As an SJW, I read it as heretical communion with Satan.

Meh, most of the linked post amounts to "it doesn't work like DAO", with some highly subjective opinions about appearances (apparently the female presents are fugly and bioware devs are blind or something, and the main story that is praised everywhere apparently sucks), or straight up wrong (my favourite is ranting that auto attack is gone, making it impossible to be tactical and attack at the same time... when auto-attack works in tactical mode).

So ::shrug::. If that's the worst, I think DAI is actually in a very good place as far as its PC version goes (and will get better with patches). :)

Pretty spot on - I read the thread and there is some good, solid feedback in there but half the commentary is almost this offended emotional tension that this game has changed so much from DAO which almost instantly makes it "less better by default" when that's a bad starting point to base your opinion given I felt DAO, as much as it channeled that Baldur's Gate feel, made many mistakes too.

That being said, I don't want to unfairly malign the feedback thread - it's largely civil thankfully and I'm glad people are at least speaking up, just wish there was some better perspective on some of the issues being raised as debilitating problems.

The PC controls/UI issue though - as well as the CC's issues. Those I have to agree with by and large - and I don't give Bioware a free pass on that, especially given they were boasting about the PC centric improvements being made.

Ah, so only profit should be the incentive for creativity. Got it.

How about contributing something worthwhile to society? If the only creativity we need is to come up with better ways to screw people over, then have fun with it. This concept is very popular these days.

There is a difference between making a profit to support yourself and making as much profit as possible. Nothing wrong with free market in theory. People want something, you provide it, and get paid for it. That's great. I love crowd funding. It's where all those game developers flock to who can't get funded by big publishers because their games wouldn't be profitable enough. If all games had to sell like Skyrim, we'd hardly have any games on the market anymore. And much less diversity.

Of course I'm not putting the full blame on the big bad companies. It's the consumers themselves who put up with it. The Assassin's Creed games wouldn't be profitable anymore if nobody bought them. So it's gamers themselves who ruin the market in a way. Don't buy this crap anymore, then maybe companies will have to get creative (yes) again.

But imo there is no denying that the quality of a product suffers when you get greedy. Maybe you'll be more agreeable with that assessment?

It often does kill creativity in the process, however. AC is the most shameless cash cow in recent history. No need to come up with new ideas when sales are fine. Delivering a good product is not the incentive here. And that's a shame. These do not challenge your ideas or morals, or your intellect, they are mindless entertainment.

TV shows get milked way past their prime. Stretching out shows even though you have run out of ideas is sad. And writers are told to write whatever appeals to the biggest number of people. That's usually gory violence and casual sex. We totally need more of that...

So it's a terrible combination of greedy company bosses and stupid consumers who don't mind being sold crappy products. And the more stupid **** we dull our brains with, the easier it is to sell this crap to us. Yeah, capitalism rocks.

Btw, I'm not saying that Bioware is all that different. But I'd still put their games way above other franchise cash cows. Any game can be fun, that's not the point. But Bioware games still make me think, they have a message. Of course, I'll pay them money for it. I also pay for music. Or pure art. Everybody wants to make a living, the question is how.

I really don't want to start an idealogical debate. Let's just say I don't support the idea of maximum profit at the lowest cost. They tried that with DA2. Nor do I support all games to be clones of each other.

Regulated capitalism does rock indeed.  You might not be motivated by profit, but history is on the side of profit being the absolute strongest motivator.  Also, you seem to think that profit and "contributing something worthwhile to society" are mutually exclusive.  Which of course is nonsense.

It is factually incorrect to say that creativity has nothing to do with profit incentive.  Profit incentive has lead to the most creative inventions in history.  I agree that profit incentive isn't the only driving force of creativity however.

This thread is dumb.

Regardless of quality, this game is selling very well.

If Origin had a "top sellers list" like steam does, it would be more obvious.

There is healthy middle ground capitalism that walks the fine line between profits and people, has something to do with providing a worthwhile product, value for money and customer satisfaction. But as anyone who's worked in the food industry will tell you, there's always angry customers who walk in to your restaurant not to order food but to order food and complain about it. They stifle creativity and try to drag down everything around them by chanting "Nobody else likes" until they're blue in the face.

Yes, and clearly the people who adamantly defend bioware even though their games quality has gone nowhere but down since KOTOR are helping.

I'm sure we will see more amazing games like SWTOR and ME3 moving forward. Lucky us.
