FemShep or BroShep? Why?

BroShep for several reasons.
1.) The romances - It's the primary difference between the sexes, and honestly, most of FemSheps relationships are terrible: Traynor has almost no content, Jacob is stupid, Thane dies, and Garrus is honestly too much of a retcon for me to consider it (plus the friendship dialogue is way better). Only Kaidan feels like a real relationship. BroShep, by contrast, has Tali (who did a great job with the voice acting), Jack (who has great dialogue) and Ash (Pretty much the same as Kaidan)
2.) The voice - In 2, it seems to me like FemShep always sounded vaguely pissed off. It worked when Shep was supposed to be pissed off, but not when she wasn't. BroShep had some nuance in the voice: The growl when you said you'd cut the guy's balls off, the soft talking of the romance.
And that's it. I have a FemShep file where I did a Kaidan 1-2-3 romance, but other than that, it's DudeShep for me.

I initially played Sheploo but I never got attached to he probably because he wasn't custom Shep. No matter what I could only make gorillas when I tried making male Shep. On the other hand I'm really happy how my last femShep turned out:

That's a really nice looking Shep. Too bad we don't have mods on the xbox.

Femshep for me. The voice acting just seems better to me. Started out with Broshep, but just couldn't get into it.

I love both voice actors. However, I now like to play MeerShep because I can bang Kaidan as him. Finally there are gay options, not gunna let them go to waste.
That being said, Jennifer Hale is an amazing voice actor, possibly one of my favorites.

Femshep by far. Her voice is just more powerful. Broshep just sounds like a push over. At least Goku turns off his friendly voice when he's angry.

Femshep for J. Halle's voice acting which is, combine with the game scénario, amazing! I'm doing a play with the std male at the moment and it's good as well for other reasons.
I've always played women in these kind of games, it feels more ''difficult'' probably because I'm male, they are always on the edge or kind of David and Goliath ![]()
in real life I would for sure follow blindly Femshep and be more reserved for Broshep

Male Shep mostly because I'm male myself. I can't connect to a female character and just can't feel like I'm in their boots the same as I could a male one. I'm sure the same could be said from a female's viewpoint. The one thing that annoys me about Femshep is when her fans proclaim her to be "The only shep." That annoys me to no end because there is no "correct" choice in ME and it's annoying when someone tries to make her sound like she was the proper choice. I have no problem with someone preferring Femshep so long as it doesn't comprise of that kind of reasoning. I've tried playing as Femshep and she really doesn't sound as impressive as her fans try to make her sound. That gets me to my next point, voices. Sure FemShep may sound more "emotional" but that felt unrealistic to me. Unless you're just a really emotional person, I don't think someone actually talks like that on a regular basis. I don't mind Hale as her other characters like Krem in DA I or Palmer in Halo 4 but with Femshep..Meh. Meer on the other hand sounds like how I expected Shepard to be. He seems calm, collected, and gets emotional when it's called for. For ex, when Shepard gets angry..He sounds just like how I figured he would. I will admit the part where he yells STEEVVVE was pretty corny but nobody's perfect. I kind of like how Shepard says "Wrex" or "Grunt" when talking to those two on the male side as well lol Wrex: Shepard Shepard: Wrex ha
I don't get why people get onto Meer's voice sometimes though. He really isn't that bad. For instance, compare Shepard to another male character like Master Chief. Chief rarely talks, but when he does he sounds like he has the personality of a rock yet nobody ever says anything. Another biggie for me is appearance. Naturally Male Shep looks better because he was face scanned whereas FemShep..Idk, I've just never cared for her appearance. There are also instances where it looks more reasonable for it to be MaleShep instead Fem. For ex, brawling with the Shadow Broker. I have a hard time picturing FemShep being able to push the Broker back like that or keeping up with him compared to male. Not to say that women are weak, but men are just naturally stronger than women and it looks more, for lack of a better word, "right" seeing Male shep brawl it out with the Broker. Gotta give it to the love interests too in Male Shep's favor. Miranda, Liara, Ashley, Jack, and Tali win it for me. I always wind up romancing Ashley or Miranda the most but as someone said it was disappointing that you didn't get to see Miranda much in 3. I think the only thing that really bummed me out about Miranda was when you found out that she couldn't get pregnant. Not the worst loss but it just kinda reassured me that having a family someday would be out of the question for my Shep if he gets with her lol Now if Femshep had the voice actress who does characters like Christine from Fallout New Vegas or Bianca in DA I(Sorry, I've forgotten her name) then she might have won me over more ![]()

Funny thing, as a woman I can't find that RP connection playing a female character in Games where heavy Melee Combat can be found, as you mentioned yourself, such as the fight with the Broker, it just doesn't quite look right to me either...when I play females in such Games as ME, Skyrim, etc...I am just running a game, no connection to my character, I consider those just my mess around games, but when running a male character it's full immersion and strong RP, full backgrounds, fleshed out personalities, certain outlooks, morality zone, etc...Ranged Weapons such as Guns and Bows are great equalizing factors and I guess to a degree Armor, but you are right, it is just a simple fact that majority wise men have greater physical strength, though in games that require high agility of the character I find the females generally take the leading edge in that regard.
I have a preference for Meer's Shep also, for the same reasons you state...I prefer that calmer more authoritive approach, it suits a Soldier in a leadership position, more controlled. I found Meer's voice acting too flat in ME1, but come ME2 and ME3, he nailed it.
...You can keep BroSheps stock appearence though
am very female there, I want him handsome to my taste so make my own Shep face
...ME Custom faces are pretty plastic looking, is a shame Modding ME isn't easy, but oh well, can get close enough.
The Romances, I personally like Ashley's personality development in ME3, but alas most of my Sheps stay single aside from a single ME3 romance with Ash, I quite liked it. Garrus is said to have a good romance arc, I have heard nothing about Kaidan's romance with her, hopefully at least equal to Ash...but otherwise a hetro FemShep really looses out, Jacob a cad and Thane dies
was pretty lousy to do that to the FemShep players ![]()

That wasn't the point. I meant by the fact that Shepard's pushing against that shield of his and trying to shove him back looks better with a guy trying to do it instead of a girl. If it came to something involving strength, it just naturally looked better with a man doing it over a woman.
@stayfrosty Yes women do tend to be a lot more nimble than men, so those situations do favor a female over a male. I guess that's in terms of humans though because Thane was pretty agile for a guy lol But that's how his race appears. Least the males anyways..Don't think we ever saw a female Drell. I've just never really bothered changing male shep's appearance. His voice just looks like it fits his appearance and you said the custom races look, erm, weird. I don't really touch male Hawke in DA 2/Inquisition either though I have started messing with his hair lol Took his beard off and it's like he looks like a whole different character. I haven't tried it but was wondering if I could just change the hairstyle on male shep to just to see what it looks like LOL Yeah they kinda gave FemSheps the shaft in terms of romance, then again I think Bioware gave everyone the shaft on their LI with the endings. Only way you know you'll be with your LI again is if you go with the destroy option
I like Ashley and Miranda the most in terms of male romance. I've seen so many people hate on Ashley yet I found her to be a good LI when you got to know her better. Miranda was, as the other characters describe her, an "Ice Queen" but she really opened up when you got to know her too. Only thing that made me sad about Miranda was that you find out she's incapable of getting pregnant in the Shadow Broker DLC. It didn't take anything away from her of course, however it did kind of solidify that Shep wouldn't be able to have a family with her >.<

I am getting the feeling Gambit you have very definite idea's and RP about what happens to your Shep after ME3's finale' ![]()
It's a shame Bioware don't give us Gamers the same Player privilege Bethesda does, leaving their Games open to Modding and supplying us with the Modding Tools...my Skyrim dude bears no resemblance to the vanilla Skyrim offerings, his pretty epic
,would have loved to do the same with my Shep.
The LI's, I know reading the Forum people have been pretty upset with the handling of the LI's, it leaves me feeling lucky none of the BroShep romance options really floated my boat...I wanted Kasumi or Parasini
... What BW did do very right was fleshing out their characters to such a point that we as the Gamers developed strong emotional responses to these pixels, whether that be love, hate or somewhere in between, BW did very well with that aspect, is a shame they were unable to follow through, leaves me wondering if it was just a simple case of 'they bit off more than they could chew' financially or time wise...though it does bug me somewhat, even as a non romancer, that Liara still managed a full content, but other LI's pretty much left behind ![]()

You do realize that that wouldn't change the fact that male Shepard would still be stronger than female right? In case you forgot that he has the implants as well. I really can't fathom why people are trying to argue that.
@Stayfrosty Ha you're probably right. With all the time I invest with my LI, I like to think that my Shep would have something to look forward to after all the fighting's done. Blah, designing my characters is a nerve racking process for me. I blame my OCD since I never feel satisfied when I do it lol That's probably part of why I never really changed male shep's face and just now started kinda tinkering with Hawke's. It's worse when I try to pick colors for Shep's armor. Drivvvvvvvvessssssss me crazy. Never satisfied lol Bioware's love for Liara really got annoying for me. When it came to love interests, it's like they gave her special treatment. I like Liara but I just did not favor her compared to, as mentioned, Ash and Miri. After playing Dragon Age Inquisition though, I'm starting to feel like Bioware doesn't want us to have happy endings. Unless you pick the destroy option in ME 3 then your shep dies and your LI is left alone. In DA I, you run into Hawke and he tells me that Isabella and him only see each other when they want to because they "don't like to be tied down." I was like what the heck? Isa and Hawke implied otherwise at the end of DA 2 in their conversation and Varric tells you that she went off with him at the end. Bioware's starting to make me think of Ubisoft in that they don't want there to be happy endings in romance lol

Yes it would. What you seem to fail to realize is that the entire premise of the trilogy is there is Shepard and that they are bad ass... it doesn't matter whether it's he or she. So yeah, Shepard can do it, doesn't matter if male or female.
The codex says that every Alliance soldier gets a strength enhancements. Don't know exact quote, somebody more knowledgeable than me can do it. But you have it right there, every grunt start pretty much on level. And once Shep is resurrected, once again, why discriminate? The entire point of Lazarus is to make Shepard better than the best... so yeah, it makes ton of sense to make a female weaker just because of that extra X on sexual chromosome, right?
What you're doing here is applying a preconceived notion of females being physically weaker than males. In our world, that works out on average. In MEverse and Alliance... it doesn't.
