Broshep, well if to be exact Sheploo:) Because default face is too attractive for me to skip
And i actually prefer Meer's voice over Hale's,her too emotional lines sometimes put me off.
FemShep or BroShep? Why?

Also, the Voice Acting... People say that Jennifer Hale's Voice Acting is better than Mark Meer's. I Really didn't think so. Doing a ME3 run here, and I think that her voice acting did got a bit of worse. Mark Meer, in the other hand, improved a LOT in the Voice Acting.
I played both male and female Shepards, and I think Meer definitely got into his game more throughout the series. His performance in ME3 is arguably more convincing than Hale's, who I wouldn't dispute did an overall better job in ME1. The renegade Female Shepard that did so much to make Hale's performance in ME1 enjoyable seems to have become her default tone of voice by ME3, where I often found Female Shepard to be inappropriately sarcastic or nonchalant, and off-putting as a result. By the end of ME3 I'd expect Shepard to be tired, exhausted, desperate etc. - not joking around and making cheeky comments. Meer pulled that off better than Hale, in my opinion.
The romances available to the Male or Female Shepard seem pretty even to me, though I don't have much experience with those. Garrus seemed to be Shepard's biggest 'friend' regardless of gender, and the one most nicely integrated into the series' story.
When it comes to playing male or female characters, self-insertion or actual role-playing, it's nice that the games allow for whichever way feels best to each player.

Not to be that guy, but that is mostly because there are almost zero games with female-only protagonists. The only ones that come to my mind right now are Lara Croft from tomb raider, Chell from Portal, Alice Liddel from American McGees Alice and Scarlett from Venetica. Most games where you can have a female protagonist are ones where you can choose the characters gender in character creation, which in most cases results in protagonists with less character depht (due to the fact that there are more variations).
So of course there are more interesting male characters in video games, but this is in my opinion due to the fact that there are more games with male-only protagonists.
By the way I found all the female protagonists I listed earlier to be quite interesting characters as well (Okay not Chell, she's just a dangerous mute lunatic.).
Samus Aran, Bayonetta, Yuna, Lightning, and others come to mind. There are more female characters out there than there are characters of a different color

Well yes, because the list is so short.
That's like saying you can name all the female prime ministers of the uk.
Basically exactly what I just said.

Renegade Male Shepard is the only Shepard I ever play. I did do a femshep playthrough in ME1 and ME2 but just can't finish an ME3 playthrough as her for some reason. I just prefer playing as a dude since I'm a guy in real life and it makes the experience so much more immersive for me. Dudeshep also feels more like a soldier than Femshep does. Femshep is too skinny and her voice isn't as authoritative imo.
Seriously though, my biggest complaint about Femshep is that she's too skinny. She should've been more muscular.
Maybe something like this:

1) After the SR1 goes boom, he makes no effort at all to find a way to stop the reapers. He turned his back on humanity, Shepard and the galaxy. The same can be said for all the ME1 characters
the man is alone against the council and even Udina, what he can do???, the only one who can is Shepard because of Cerberus and his unlimited credits and resources, then, as per Ash/Kaidan speach on Horizon, they can't believe he/she is alive and, worse, with Cerberus which is for everybody, a terrorist organisation, so they don't know what they can expect from her/him
2) He along with the Alliance make no effort to confirm Shepards death. His answer was, when I found out you were alive, I sent you that message. Is that suppose to make me feel better? Get lost clown. He even tells Shepard its up to her to stop the reapers. Yeah. Thanks for nothing clown.
what do they need to confirm??? Shepard get spaced jeez! from the moment he/she start to fly in space, he/she is dead period, it's a GAME MIRACLE if there is even a body to give to Cerberus
,
he doesn't send you a message to make you feel better, he just want to be sure you're alive!
of course he tell her/him to stop the reapers, he/she is the only one who knows whats going on....the council and the entire galaxy think it was the geth and that's all, again, and it's the main line of ME2, only Shepard with Cerberus etc...can save the Galaxy if you saved the council once you must know it^^
3) Anderson doesn't care about Shepard. In the shuttle while in London, he says "too bad it took the reapers to unite the galaxy." What a dumba**. It was Shepard that united the galaxy. He later sends her to an area where the resistance is the heaviest, but to stay alive for the final push. Where was he to help get any injured onto the Normandy during the what-the-crap evac scene? Why didn't he help with shooting the husks and Mirauder?
He didn't say '' i've unified the galaxy'' right? then, Shepard is the miracle man/woman, he/she can win where everybody else would be destroyed, you and your crew are beyond the Elite, that's why you go where it's the most dangerous, if you can't go throught no one else can! that's why you're the one choosen by your Admiral to go kick these bastards
if you can't accept that, so you didn't understood anything from the moment where Shep/Jacob and Miranda fly away from Lazarus, remember? the Quizzes, decisions need to be made even you know it will kill your best man/woman..
he is an Admiral and from day 1 his work is to organise this final push with all the races on earth, it's like you've said, why Hacket didn't take a fighter and fly against the reaper to defend the Crucible, it make no sens. do you even understood it was a military space game anyway?? ![]()
4) He says you did good
childSON to my femshep. Femshep isn't achild. Fortunately he dies a moment later. Its better having TIM kill him.
it's a friendly chat, the kind of, i mean, he could be his/her father, so he talk as a father to his best soldier, in the army it's beyond respect you know, no you probably don't.
So its a joke that he mentions she is soft on the sides. Is everyone suppose to accept that comment? Before he makes a comment like that, he needs to make sure he has his sh*t squared away otherwise he needs to shutup

How hard would it be for him to get a shuttle and have Joker fly it around with the ME1 characters to go back to Eden Prime to see if there is anything more besides the beacon that was found? Male or Female are exactly the same except for their sex in ME. There are no bonuses given to either gender. The question really is... Which gender do you prefer to play. I'm a woman IRL, I play Femshep. I love Hale's VO. If I were a guy, I might be a Sheploo shipper. I can't say for sure because I'm not a guy.
Anyway... why bicker over this? Its personal preference, not a good subject to debate because everyone is right in their own mind. As it should be.

@OP: You're not going to like my response or reasoning but I mostly picked Bro-Shep because we're both guys. In terms of immersion & RPG I find it easier to really become one-with-the-story when I can fully relate to the "avatar / protagonist" being presented. Being a guy I find it easier to slip into the role of a guy therefore I'm more immersed in the story and have a better time.
In terms of romances I've done most of the ME 1 & 2 romances [not 3] and I have "YouTubed" the rest of the romances. Overall I find the Bro-shep romances to be more engaging and my favorite romance option of them all is the Bro Shep Paragon - Tali romance from ME2. Perhaps not as much with ME3 but isolated to ME2 that romance really spoke to me and I thought Tali was perhaps the most sincere of all of them. I will give props to the Paragon Jack & even the Ashley ME1 romance as working reasonably well [for me].
I have a biased position in terms of the voice acting. Because my FIRST several Sheps were Bro-Sheps I got used to Mark's performance and I have a hard time fairly evaluating Jen's performance in comparison.

@Massa FX: I didn't read your post until I replied to the OP. I agree with you 100% in that we shouldn't "fight" over someone's personal preference. I think less biased people than me could reasonably critique the slight difference in story [mostly romance based] if you're a FemShep or a BroShep and the voice acting could also be critiqued.
In the end I'm willing to let folks have their own opinions about the above qualities even if I think they're clearly "wrong" ![]()

We can assume as per Ash/Kaidan's report that everything had been done right?, it's not like a book where you can develop every tiny parts of a story, it's more like a 3 hrs long movie where you're telling the life of one char over the past 10 years

yes you have
,
if he had said '' I finally unified the galaxy because of the reapers' you could said ''it's me who unified every body not you dumb ass..'' it's not the case, every body knows it's you, damn Anderson himself ask you to do so when you are saved by the Normandy

so you don't get it, in this case it's beyond respect, in the army, even you are the best soldier around, you're just ONE soldier among the others, there is a hiérarchy right?, Anderson as a Admiral proves how much he likes Shepard referring him as his son
But worse, you don't get for sure one thing, you have to care about him, because in Me 2 it's the only one friend left you have from Me1. Ash / Kaidan think you're a traitor, Udina is THE dumb ass here, Hacket doesn't care, you are a tool nothing more. And if you have listen to him at the very beginning of Me3, he says that any other soldier would have been sent to a martial court, but not Shepard and because of Anderson, see it's your best friend around^^

if you want to play only renegade, pew pew the collectors/reapers as a total jerk no problem with that, but it's a shame with a scénario as this one, of course it's not perfect, Anderson doesn't go to Mars and of course, the ending could have been done differently, Shepard and [romance] on the beach, Garrus calibrating a fishing rod bla bla, but no, he/she died and it's a epic tragedy ![]()

What does a veteran soldier sound like then?
You should meet my grandma, she served for 4 years in the luftwaffe, including Berlin in 1945 right at the bitter end.
She has probably seen more combat and experienced more horrors than most, yet meeting her you wouldn't classify her as a veteran soldier (which she was).

@Kareen
While I certainly don't agree with Mike's sentiment towards Anderson and would find the notion of being able to punch him in the stomach over a friendly comment to be overly-sensitive (especially if its only for Femshep) I wouldn't call Anderson a 'best friend'*. Infact, outside of the fan circles (for whatever reason) Anderson didn't play that big of a part in Shepard's life. It wasn't until ME3 did they start pushing this Shepard-Anderson bonding session on us. As for being your superior, well, it depends. Within the Alliance perhaps but Shepard is a spectre - the council are the only ones he really has to answer to. Which makes his surrender in ME3 all the more baffling.
I always viewed what they had to be more akin to mutual respect - ME3 took that a step further like every fanfiction out there and tried to make him almost this father figure for Shepard. I don't mind it much since I thought they did a good job of making me care about the guy but I can understand why some would be annoyed by this forced connection. Hey, did you know he was born in London?
I also think you should be careful with your accusations. That's twice now you've called out a veteran for not understanding the military. You're also bordering the lines of an ad hominem argument. Just because you disagree with someone's opinion doesn't mean you have to insult their maturity.
*Amusingly I'd argue that the best friend you had in the entire series was Thane. He's the only one who kept trying to contact you and was seemingly worried about your situation. All your other good friends barely seem to be aware that you're under house arrest. "Hey Shepard. Didn't you get locked up or something?"
R.I.P. Thane
