Sera is on another league DPS wise. Give her Flask of Lightning, lots of buffs and a good bow and let the AI itself do the magic. And we are not even talking about infinite Focus here. Just let the AI roll.
If you are playing on Nightmare you want Sera.
Some people might prefer Varric though. But the OP asked about DPS, so DPS it is.
True, not to mention I like Sera now that I am on like my fourth playthrough. I've already killed the game's dragons many times over, so I go to her when I just want a quick dragon death for the materials. As much as I like varric, I don't care for having to find parts for his crossbow instead of just being able to make them like anything else, to customize what I want to on there.
