Ok so I know this poor horse has been dead a long time now. But I am still going to beat on it.

The voiced MC just steals away SO much roleplaying. The main problem I see is in the interpretation of the lines. You can pick something and get your companions response. If there is no voice you can imagine your MC was being funny and the companions response would work for that. But with the voiced protaganist you say it all mean or something. Just takes our control of how your character should be away from you.

So yes while all the voice acting for te Inquisitor was very well done. I still hate it and hate that Bioware feels there is no market for it anymore even though the last game they did with a silent protaganist sold better then all the ones with voiced...

That´s because there is almost no market for a mute protagonist. And the reasons for DA: Origins selling better than the rest don´t have anything to do with the protagonist being mute or voiced, but with the game being entirely different and better. After the debacle of the awful **** that was DA 2 a lot of people rightfully lost trust on Bioware/EA.

You have all those people with their lines and then you. Standing there mute with a few face expressions? No thanks.

After playing DA:I the game would be lessened without the Inquisitor having a voice. I can barely stand skyrim with no voice

I think you're asking for a silent protagonist to play "pretend" while the rest of us suffer through a boring soundless game. Seems legit.

It worked in Mass Effect series and DA2

Considering consoles are starting to automatically include mics I think there is an option that can help everyone.

Voice command your own dialogue choices. Everyone wins.

And that is bad how?

I prefer silent one for immersion, but it is not a deal breaker for me.
And also Inquisitors face expression in some situations look just plain retarded.

I'm the opposite. I can't play games anymore without voice acting from the main character

Yes I miss the creepy doll protagonist who just stared at his/her companions with cold lifeless unmoving eyes. Makes it easy to head canon that he is just a figment of everyone's imagination and you are watching them slowly descend into insanity. :P

Eh, I could never get behind a silent protagonist when everyone else was voiced. I hardly remember any of my Warden's dialogue and I couldn't give a flying nugfugget whether they kill the Warden off or not because I just don't care about him.

Shepard, Hawke or the Inquisitor on the other hand... there would be riots if they hurt Hawke and I still can't think about Shepard without being plagued by a deep, gnawing sadness. Yes, they were slightly less my characters, but it was worth it for how much more real and relateable they became.

I agree. I dislike all the voices in this game except for the English female and that really ruins my game, a quanari does not fit any of the voices offered in my opinion for example. If my quanari character was silent I would just imagine myself having a more Bruttish voice. Thy made quite a big deal changing the dalish to irish/Scottish just for my dalish elf to speak queens English, or that god awful American voice.

That just isn't true. If Bioware meant for it to be a mean response, it doesn't matter PC says it, the companions will react just the same.

There are pros and cons to both, but to me, there are more pros in having a voice protagonist.

I'm going to give a gold star to the first developer that includes this feature in their game.

The companions don't do much in the way of reacting either way. That's part of why it works. There's a premium on voiced lines, so they just carry on doing the same regardless.

But seriously, silent protagonist is boring and restricts story potential. The very fact that Hawke was voiced made it possible to bring him/her back for Dragon Age Inquisition. Voiced protagonist, ftw.

How about instead it has mic support and you just read your own lines aloud :)

Well if while playing paintball you're re-enacting battles from WWII or Vietnam then it's not and you're strange. If you're just shooting at your friends for fun and bragging rights it's "sport"
