Personally I can't stand silent protagonists when other characters are voiced. Unless we're talking about Dr. Freeman of course.
God I miss the silent protaganist...

You seem like you're a cool guy, MajorV. I bet you're glad you're you.
I'm pretty satisfied with who I am, at least enough not to dress up and go all spongebob with my "IMAGINATION".

Pretty much any Bethesda game or any JRPG says hello (or actually pretty much any RPG that isn't from Bioware).
To be clear, this isn't an argument in favor of one over the other, but I need some actual statistics before I believe there's no market for mute protagonists. The real reason for no mute protagonists is simply "Bioware doesn't want them."
Yeah, and I think they had a bit of mainstream success with Mass Effect, so it seemed like the way they had to go to further their brand. I mean, I like it, though. They've actually put a lot of effort into it, even in DA:2 (and without doubt in DA:I). Are there any other RPGs that offer character creation and branching storylines with a voiced protagonist? I think Bioware might stand alone there, now.

I like it too. I don't think it's the end-all-be-all of RPGs though. You don't *have* to have it, and it can go really wrong. ME3 I'm looking at you. DA has always done it better than ME. There are things VA can do that mute can't, and there are things mute can do that VA can't.
Basically, I'm just saying that Bioware has gone this route for artistic/branding reasons. You don't have to have voiced PCs to have a good game or a game that sells well.

It's like people forgot volume could be adjusted.

Divinity: Original Sin is an incredibly solid game. Hell, even Divinity 2 still holds up pretty well.

Won't happen now though.
I'm all for immersion, but a voiced protagonist makes no difference in that regard... I don't need to hear them say the lines, I just read them when I chose them!

The issue is not that the inquisitor has a voice, is that the dialogue the inquisitor is given is horrendously bland.
I disagree

warden technically wasnt silent, only in cutscenes did he shut up... i mean really i got tired of hearing "should i get a ladder so you can get off my back?" not silent, if anybody needed to be silent it was alistair every once in a while.
