Morrigan will also give you the mission (even if she's not your LI) if you recruit her before the Adamant arc. But during the dialogue you have to choose the bottom option. She asks if the Hero of Ferelden was present at Adamant, and when the inqusitor says no Morrigan states she was certain Hawkes warden ally was the HOF. She then tells you to seek him out because he could be a great ally or a terrible foe.

Only played Inquisition with dead HOF so far.  This will be my first playthrough with a living one.  Glad to actually be able to see SOME sort of acknowledgement that he/she existed, at least.

The early mentions of the Hero of Ferelden kind of weird me out.

Cass and Leliana were searching for him to possibly lead the Inquisition? The guy who claims Andraste is a myth? The guy who abandons the Wardens (TWICE!) to chase after a woman? Ultra reliable and moderate guy, that one.

The other mentions work. Morrigan would naturally talk about him. And Leliana talking about being there at the defeat of the Archdemon.

They probably don't know that your warden is a heretic. It's not like he/she has a blog or tweets heretical thoughts. ;) Even if they did, they would still want the warden or Hawke and if Hawke could not be located... They need a person of influence. They don't have to like that person.

Yeah, the disappearing hero trope wears pretty thin, especially when it happens to hero after hero.

I had Morrigan as LI even made that demon god baby with her and the way HOF quest was handled was sort of disappointing. Even Hawke got more air time (even though first thing that came to my mind when i saw Hawke was to stab him in back and steal his armor still one of best looking armors there pfff)

Was looking forward to see what happens if HOF is a queen with Alistar as king but i see that part caries equal amount, if not bigger amount of meh

I really enjoyed every little thing in Inquisition about the Hero of Ferelden who i saw as "myself". And when you speak to Morrigan she talked about sending a message to him to see if he could help the Inquisition.

But after that nothing happened. Did i miss something? Even a little bit of dialog would be nice.

Are you fond of belts?

You are all right, and wrong.
If Leliana is the wardens LI she will provide the mission. If not Morrigan will. And I think I've seen Alistair provide it when he was LI.
So you can get the mission from several people. It will always unlock the war table mission.

Leliana gave me the "Contact HoF" mission despite not being the love interest as Morrigan was. I can verify the World State transferred correctly because if I speak to Morrigan, I can talk to her about the Hero of Ferelden and she'll talk about him as "her Warden" and how they are together and when mentioning giving the Inquisition a means to contact him, she'll give the whole thing about how he'll think she misses him. Pretty much Morrigan being a cute girl in love.

I found this thread to find out if anything comes out of her "means to contact him" but apparently not.

Would have been nice to hear any comment by him on the romanced HoF at all (that's different from the non-romanced). I just killed him off and he hasn't said a single word about the love of his life that ultimate sacrificed herself to save all of Ferelden. I didn't even get the chance to ask him about her.

I got more emotion from Dagna and Leliana.

If you talk to him again after the initial cutscene, either in Crestwood, or back at Skyhold before you go to Adamant, you can have a convo with him where you can inquire about the HOF, and if you romanced him, there is reference to the relationship.

Er, the statement didn't make any sense? It's a contradiction. I have to assume Morrigan spoke of the plausibility of Hawke's ally as the HoF before Adamant occurred and that the HoF may be great ally/terrible foe.

They missed your widely published manifesto. Unbelievable.

That's with Leliana, not after speaking to Morrigan. The Morrigan thing just sort of went nowhere. She tells the Inquisitor she'll send the HoF a message, but nothing comes from it.

Hawke fanboys/fangirls got a lot more out of the cameo in Inquisition than Hero of Ferelden fanboys/fangirls did, that's for certain.

I really disagree. Bioware did their usual character assassination on a return hero. Much like how DAA breaks the HOF and ME2 breaks the Sole Survivor.

I never gave DA:A a great deal of thought, but it really does annoy me how you can't play the Orlesian Warden commander with a living HoF. My Warden wanted out of the stupid spawn-sucking suicide squad once the Blight was over.

OKOKOKOKOK!  Some of you are arguing about the dumbest thing right now! lol

The person who gives you the mission depends on who the HoF romanced.  The OP isn't wrong by going to Morrigan, if you romanced her and went through the eluvian then she gives you the war table mission and Leliana never gets involved (if you didn't go through then Leliana gives it), if you romanced Alistair and he's a Grey Warden then he'll give you the mission and no one else ever gets involved, and if you did anything else (even Alistair but he wasn't still in the Wardens) then Leliana handles the entire quest, as in that one time you talk to her to start it off.

After that it's a 16 hour war table mission and once it's over you get a letter that GOES IN THE CODEX that you can read, and it will vary based on who the HoF's romance was, the Warden's AND the Inquisitor's race can be factors, and possibly whether you went through the eluvian or not (only in Morrigan romance does this matter though).

So, guys stop arguing about who to get the quest from and the contents or w/e else people are confused about lol

I got the war table mission from Leliana before I went to get Morrigan and my Warden romanced Morrigan and went through the Eluvian with her. Morrigan said Leliana have her the part of the letter that was addressed to her.

Regardless if who gives you the HOF operation I'm hoping for a DLC addressing whether it not the Warden finds away to cute the taint and the what is going on with the wardens in general.

Since the next DA is supposed to be moving north, I suspect what's going on with the Wardens will be a significant plot point in it.

You're forgetting you can play a character who does not believe in gods.

I would pay real money just to get a simple scene with The Warden and a reunion. I mean come on, the Warden Commander is STILL ALIVE weather he/she is orlesian or fereldan. Unless BioWare has something planned and is ridiculously tight lipped about the Warden they wouldn't just leave a character of importance wonder around with no real purpose. They said that the Warden and Hawke's stories are over yet there was Hawke in the middle of the siege of Adamant.

Too bad Alistair's content is mostly Grey Warden-route based.  My Warden married him and placed him as King, and he made a 10-second cameo.  Would have been nice to hear someone comment on the disappearance of the Queen.

Simply because Alistair is a bad choice as a King imho he is a Grey warden warrior not a ruler, is obvious that he have a short cameo as king because as king he cant do nothing for the Inquisitor, as a warden  he can be there in Skyhold.

Anora is better  to stay as queen and drink tea with the fereldan nobility.

I also wish King Alistair had a bit more to say about the warden I mean damn say something about your wife anything?

must be the taint messes with the brain

I've talked to Alistair when I had him as a Grey Warden instead of King and he knew that his lady love HoF was off on her ''special'' trip and why. So wouldn't it be safe to assume that he, as King, would also know the reason why his wife was ''missing''?

Which would explain why he doesn't act particularly worried about her being gone. I honestly don't believe that the Queen would just up and disappear without a trace, considering as a Warden, he tells you that the two discussed it so why wouldn't they talk about it if they were married and parked on the throne?

It's not exactly something that could just be announced. "Hello, I'm King Alistair and my wife is off seeking the cure for the taint. Nice weather, we're having"

So, him (as King Alistair) not acting overly distraught about her ''disappearance" makes sense. To me, at least.

I have a question about dialogue.

If I make alistair a warden and kill loghain, in the end of inquisition. If i dont romance him will he still say, "The warden is on a dark path". Alistair was my bro and I dont want him to hate my warden!

(to x NUMB3RxZx) I believe it ties into whether or not you perform the dark ritual. If so, he says it. If not, he does not.

Everyone is making some pretty valid point. Especially when someone said that the Hawke fan-boys and girls won over in DA:I.

BUUUTT!!!! Lets have some hope here... Maaaybeee... in one of these "DLC for the distant future"
We get to help the HoF on his quest to find the cure for the calling. But that's just wishful, smart thinking. I mean for DA:O, I sat there like what happens with morrigan?! Why? I wan to find her!!! I remember there being people trying to make mods for it, and what happens, VIOLA. Witch Hunt DLC. Thank you again for that one bioware

I think that it's through dialogue with Leliana that this opens up.  It's just a War Table mission, though.  The Warden sends you a message with an update on his/her location and explanation about why s/he can't join you.  In mine, he also mentioned still having Zevran with him.  I'm assuming it's different for the other three romances since they all appear in DA: I, right?

You can also get it if you romanced Morrigan and then speak with her. Zevran's dead in one of mine. Nonetheless, it's nice Rp'ing as a lovesick Warden out on a quest to stave off a quick death... just so I can spend time with my true love, and my son - I headcanon that he kinda sorta looks like me even though I'm an elf.
