They're beginning to pop up far more than the romance complaint threads, which is an achievement.

You know, tbh stuff like this is cropping up so much, it's become trite. I agree with some of the points made, but holy cow, give it a rest, or give me some proof. Unless you can link to the section of the game this was taken from, I'm going to take it with a grain of salt. NEWS FLASH: You can capture some pretty stupid faces with a screencap! A screencap proves nothing and SO MUCH has been flat out faked, I want proof.

Yes, there are people on this site who have said some foolish things. Everyone says foolish things once in a while. Not everyone thinks the same way you do. Not every woman likes to look sexy, but there are some that do ON PURPOSE (I will admit, it's fun to dress up, put effort into how you look and have that acknowledged). All opinions will differ, and not everyone is going to be happy. A well adjusted adult learns to live with that, and go elsewhere for their entertainment.

I want Triss's hair for my Inquisitor.

My Warden and Dragonborn both got to use Triss's hair, it would be nice to continue the tradition.

The thing about Triss is that she is often presented as a sexual object to be enjoyed by the straight male gaze. Take note of the position of the "camera" during love scenes with Triss. The camera often pans over her body or, as in this case, is hovering over her.

This same gaze very rarely occurs with male characters. In fact, I can't think of any, but then the only games I know of where a female can romance a male are BioWare games. Admittedly, I haven't played very many RPGs, so I'm sure there are some out there that I'm unaware of. But it's unlikely that they're treated in the same way as many female love interests in video games.

If you want to read up on this a bit more just check out Laura Mulvey's awesome essay "Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema"; it's a great read.

Oh look, a thread created solely for the purpose of self-righteous posturing.

I should go.

I like that you put that in quotes, because you are genuinely quoting something people have said at you more than once. And it doesn't look like you understand what's going on entirely when they do.

I read this a bunch of times and still have no idea what you are trying to say. No one has said that to me and i don't understand what you are insinuating i don't understand.

All of the CD Projekt trailers do this. I think whenever a woman characters appears in their trailer, the camera will inevitably pan from one end to the other. Though really, they're not exceptional in anyway in the videogame industry for this.

I think the point of shitty bingo cards is, if get you Bingo, you're supposed to retreat to a secluded mountain cave until you can start having good opinions about things.

Right. Because you have the right to decide what "good opinions" are?

So what if I'm on that list, that doesn't invalidate my point. At all. How does that list have any value or authority? You personally decided it did, but it would seriously infringe on my own subjectivity to have to accept that simply because you deemed it to be so.

Feminists are some of the most black and white thinkers I see. No room for compromise or a different viewpoint. They are right, you are wrong, and you should be burned at the stake for your disagreement. This is the supposed equality they represent. They have every right to determine what is moral, how you should behave, and what you should be in life. They even get to decide who is considered alive and who is not. And when men point out that not only women have problems, they instantly become misogynists and are ridiculed, nevermind the truth of the matter. I mean, the fact that there are now more women than ever homeless is worthy of news, but that that's still only a third of the number of homeless men, that's just flat our ignored. Let me say that again, three fourths of homeless people are ignored because they don't have vaginas.

Our world IS very vagina-centric, but you can only solve that by making it more people centric, not by demanding even more attention for vaginas.

Sad that this post is going to get deleted though, because the mods are oh so happy to aid in fascism. Ah well.

you'd think that some people would be smarter and less sexist from playing bioware games, which have always strived to represent women well (and definitely and mostly do)

LMAO

this is a bit of a hella random thread but yeah the sexist complaints are always funny and stupid more than they are anything else, thankfully they're usually not in the majority anymore so there's always someone to call them out

buh bye, this thread is just going to get even worse with some of the comments i'm seeing. it'll probably be locked soon.

This paragraph is on a par with--indeed, incredibly similar to--"Only a Sith deals in absolutes."

It occurs in-game, too. There is one scene I can recall in Mass Effect 3, for example, during which the camera pans and hovers behind Miranda's bottom for quite some time. So you have Miranda's bottom taking up about one half of the screen, while Shepard is seen standing off a few yards back. That sort of camera angle is very deliberate.

Oh, I do find the 'ugly feminists' comments amusing.
Because, naturally, only ugly women can be feminists. No pretty woman could ever care about being treated with respect and equality. No, all pretty women care about is earning the attention and approval of the mighty male sex.

It's quite ironic, really.

Here comes my very unpopular opinion...but if we're all about equality here then what is so wrong with PEOPLE complaining about their LI options or lack thereof?

This thread seems full of "Take a backseat and shut up, it's my time to shine!" which...isn't very equal at all.

If you're not sure what they mean I can explain them to you :) Feminist theory can be a bit of a beast, but it's not as bad as some other types of theory. In any case, I'm far from being an expert myself. But it is a fun field to play around it; at this point I can't help noticing what I notice, and it can be shocking when you start seeing some of the same patterns repeat themselves ad infinitum.

It is a rather childish argument - ooh, they are ugly!  To be expected when these sorts of issues get discussed (sadly).

An opinion is an opinion. What right do you have to say whether it is bad?

Where do people get this idea that opinions can't be bad? lol

Also I have a hard time believing a man as ugly as Geralt could make any woman make that face.

Because attractiveness obviously is more important than experience.
