So, I'm aware of the exploit to change your console's clock/time in order to complete the war table missions immediately. I was adverse to this at first, but after starting a new playthrough I wanted to blow through a lot of the missions in order to reach where I left off on my last game.
But, my question is:
As far as I can tell, I can only change the console region/time zone.
As long as your Xbox One is connected to the internet, you won't be able to change the time I believe.
Ugh. It ruins it in my opinion.
I agree - to an extent. Just want to use it so that I can play "catch up."

Really? That's interesting. Guess I'll try that out. 
Timed war table events probably looked good on paper...
But it's another of those things that reeks of allowing MMO devs work on a single player (effectively) game.
Timed missions are fun... the first time around. Now that I'm only my second play through, I don't look forward to waiting twelve hours to get a mission completed. So I'll be using the clock workaround until Bioware gets around to unlocking the cheats.
I just leave the long ones over night. No biggy.
