This is the new normal for AAA releases now. They cut corners on QA, put the game out on the date they planned whether it is ready or not, and then patch the biggest consumer complaints and ignore the rest. Having your customer do your beta testing for you (and paying you for the privilege) is clever business.

not that clever considering I'm not buying bioware again...

Alright, I'll take the bait:

What is better with a controller? If you can name one thing you can do in the game that's easier with a controller than with mouse and keyboard, I'd already be impressed, cause I have found none. All but using your first 4 skills take more action from the player to perform on a controller. All of them.

Oh goodie, a debate that sounds in no way immature and utterly stupid.   Yep, because fighting over what you use to play with and kill pixels is always worthwhile.

C'mon, what happened to preferences?  One isn't better than the other, it's all about what your comfortable with.  I wouldn't play a heavy action game like God of War with M/KB, and I wouldn't play a strategy game with a controller.  Who gives a crap?  Seriously?  If you like a controller, use a controller.  If you like M/KB, then use that.  The point of this debate is...what?  This whole M/KB versus Controller nonsense reminds me of junior high.  Which was over 23 years ago, for goodness sakes.

On the topic: Thanks QA team!

The development for this game was extended for a year and then for another month. "The date they planned" was Oct 2013.

It's possible to express disappointment with elements of the game without suggesting that the developers are lazy, money-grubbing swindlers.

DA:I is built around the controller.

The fast paced action lends itself to play with the controller. With the keyboard your keys are not spaced in easy reach as they are with the controller.

You can maybe reach one to four easily, but beyond that you are stretching. So maybe you need to rebind all your keys, and again this is not as easy as with the controller which is just pick up and play.

Secondly, you need to constantly be moving forward if you have a melee class. That means that one hand is on the mouse, and the other on WASD....and then maybe a pinky pressing the attack key all at the same time.

How this is easier than simply edging forward with the left thumbstick while rapidly tapping face buttons you'd need to explain to me.

Gameplay in DA:I right now is a lot more fluid with the controller.

The lack of auto attack, click to move, and the fact that you constantly need to reposition your character with WASD since the AI does move around a lot, makes it a clunky affair with a keyboard. And we have not even factored in the reflex based moves such as Parry or shield wall.

Um, they wouldn't have two patches in QA simultaneously. You put one patch at a time through QA.

He says patch one was released on day one in the Twitch video. I interpret as being one patch already released, another soon to be finalized, and a third in development.

Either way, multiple patches coming. BioWare really should make an announcement in the forums.

Wait, there is a day one patch? Where is the patch note?

I edit.  Damn these allergies....  *sniffle*

Yeah, gotta say i started first playthrough with the controller on my home pc so i could relax on my sofa and enjoy.

Now im away from home trying to play on my laptop and i just cant play for more than a half hour without getting sick of bad camera controls, weird right click auto attacks and the constantly having to hold down "w" while attacking and then trying to fire off an ability.

I love the game but VERY badly optimized for PC

^ Haha, it's probably because of consoles and that Sony & M$ have to ''test'' it on PS4 and Xone, so PC player have to wait too..

That would be new, DA2 auto attack patch following the Demo reactions was a day one patch for PC and out a month later on console after certification.

Come to think of it, muhc of those troubles would have been in a day one patch, should they have released a demo.

Actual demos significantly in advance of the final game would probably be a good idea moving forward, so we can find all these bugs first, and they can just do a Day 1 patch for the full game

Actually everything is better with a controller on PC while playing DA:I. Anyone who claims playing with M/KB is in any way better is just flat out lying.

Just finished the entite game with controller. It works great, not sure what the complaints are. Started play through two already.

Go to 1:20 for confirmation; so hang on for those who kept their copies.

Meh, I would've prefered them to post it themselves on the forum but thanks.

Shame the dull NPC/companion interaction and storytelling can't be patched(or can it?).  The angled 3rd person view during conversations just isn't BioWare.  I've progressed to Skyhold and while there are moments where it shines, i'm honestly not feeling the legendary storytelling from BG, NWN, KOTOR, DAO and even SW:TOR.

You can actually move around the battlefield with a controller

Dude you're crazy if you think companion interaction was poorly written. Conversations between companions has literally made me lol. And the personal quest for dorian and iron bull definitely pulls on the feelings. Or romancing Cassandra and finding the frustrated not so hard girl under the surface.

I know everyone has there issues with the game.  But I have been playing Bioware games since BG and neverwinter, and let me say they usually sort it out.  It takes time.  Often in my experience Bioware is a bit too concerned with all the Bitching, and end up releasing a patch which kills some peoples save games. Or makes things worse.  Cooler heads prevail I say.  Don't rush out some Bullshit devs.  That's all I ask.

Read what I wrote.  I didn't say anything about poorly written dialogue or interaction.  My argument is against the angled 3rd person interaction between NPCs and companions.  It's not the way BioWare did it in past RPGs and while there are good dialogue with companions/NPCs, I feel like the new angled camera view takes alot out of the interactions.

I'll believe that there are patches if and when they actually happen. That its taken over two weeks thus far does not inspire trust or faith for them to deliver.

Wait, people have packed a tantrum in 1 week and sold their copies already instead of waiting for a patch?

What true DA/BioWare fan would do that?

Two patches.

There was a 1-day patch.

A patch in the works in final stages of testing.

The following patch in the works.

QA is working on patch 2 (the one that he said is in final stages) and the coders are working on patch 3.

I'm not an english native speaker but THAT is pretty obvious to me.

Having played the game with both kb+mouse and controller, I honestly don't see the advantages of controller, just makes using the **** ui even more annoying. The game being build to be played with controller is one of the reasons why it's not as good as it could be on PC. The UI could be so much better if it weren't for the console centered design. Skyrim had the same crap but at least mods saved the UI nightmare. Origins had better ui, wasn't limited to 8 skills on actionbar, had working tactical screen and it was a PC game, later ported to consoles. It is sad that PC gamers have to suffer because of  console limitations and companies being too greedy to dev 2 versions of the game.
