The reason people are so obssessed with Solas and his romance is that it's packed with depth and emotion, in case anyone was wondering. I guess it may not be that way for everyone, but for myself and many others it was very much worth it.
I wasn't trying to offend anyone I was just trying to understand. Solas has been about as interesting as a bump on a log on my play through so I really just don't understand. I don't dislike him as a character but I don't really like him either. Every time I try to talk to him he's just standing in the circular room, accusing me of being an elf stereotyper(ist?) . "What you think just because I'm an elf I must know about all other elves?" His personality just puts me out. I literally can't say anything to please the guy and honestly at this point have just given up.
Honestly though I usually fall into the minority groups with Dragon Age games; I'm used to it at this point. I think I will likely just you tube it.

CULLEN. With the disclaimer that I'm a sucker for sweet, sexy romances.
He more than fit the bill, and in fact has replaced Alistair as my favorite DA romance, which is no small thing. I think what I liked best was that he's a bit older than Alistair was, and he's been around long enough and seen enough to be fighting his own demons. Just more...mature, I guess. His writer did an absolutely lovely job developing his character beyond the man we've seen in the previous two games, and the pacing of the romance felt just right. Lots of scenes, nice slow build. Also, I thought the scenes themselves, between the body language and the facial expressions and the voice acting (Greg Ellis is awesome) were great.
Hit all the right notes for me, anyway, but that's personal preference...I'm not much into angst and tragedy. I wanted to leave my Lavellan with someone to lean on in the end. I do love hearing what everyone else thought of the other romances, though...not sure I'll be able to see a different one all the way through! I wasn't expecting to have one of the romances be so exactly what I like. It'll be hard not to just stick with the one. I'm...sort of boring that way.

I only played it once and didn't experience it all, but did watch few of the cutscenes for most. I thought they were all done well with variety and taste. The attempts are better than previous Bioware titles.

Solas. Just...Solas. He makes it feel as though the only way to play the game is to play as a female Lavellan elf and romance him.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll be over in my corner, crying for the rest of the night.

Cass, shes the only romance option in my eyes. Just perfect. A human battering ram whos a big softy inside when it comes to romance. How sweet.

So far it's Sera.
Cassandra had more fluff that I like, but Sera seemed to have more specific romance content and development.
Doing Cullen now, which people say is a good romance. I've seen video with Solas' and his seems good, but can't judge really.

Cass so far, but it's the only one I've done. Doing Solas right now and am loving it so far. Hope it's not that hard of a heartbreak.

Chalk another one up for Solas. I don't think I've ever been this affected by a single romance arc before, and other than Garrus I think this is the best romance Bioware has ever done.
I don't even like bittersweet romance most of the time, but it was just so well-written, well-acted, and every single scene had an extraordinary depth of feeling. It shows such a different facet of Solas's character. I'm so glad Bioware took the time to include it.

No, I get where you're coming from. Solas is usually very guarded, and he doesn't have a ton to say during the game. However, it's worth it to get to know him to put all the bits and pieces together. Try taking him out some time and listen to his banter.
Also, just wondering, but have you finished the game?

So Solas's romance is heartbreaking and tragic? Oh hell that's another Anders romance, I can't handle another tragic romance I think that's why I loved Cullens so much cuz it was drama free, no break-up, no betrayal and it ended happily lol plus all those sweet moments they stole was just too good and plentiful
Don't date mages. ![]()
Interestingly, the two added romances are the coolest to me, fluffy Cullen & tragic Solas. I'm on my way to Dorian, now. ![]()

Iron Bull is my favorite romance so far. I doubt that will change, and that's odd since I was not interested in him pre-launch. -shrug-

Probably Cassandra, feels like the most fleshed out when you compare her with Josephine. Josies isn't bad, but it doesn't feel like you get to talk to her much compared to Cassandra. Granted I just finished the Winter Palace, so I may be wrong. We'll see.

Josephine has probably the best route in my opinion, as its got you dueling for her love, giving gifts, and other stuff.... kind of more classical style of romance with a little flair. And antivans like flair.
Cassandra, i was disappointed in... while i did enjoy her development, her love related quests and dialogue had me skipping most of it.... even the poetry was too much for my tastes. Still my first romance though.
Sera is hard to judge because her character development was way better than i anticipated when i first met her, i absolutely hated her in the beginning, but after pulling pranks and eating cookies on the roof, i actually like her.
Bull is probably one of the more funny ones, but his character quest is so depressing no matter which decision you make its kind of hard to go from seeing him really depressed to tying up your inquisitor for some fun.
Dorian.... well, im not touching this one in any of my playthroughs, but he does say some funny stuff while standing bare ass in the you tube video.
Cullen.... well, there's actually a lot more to him than meets the eye, but his romance is very straightforward, so kind of boring.
Solas actually has a good romance for a bald guy. Its even more heartrending when he breaks up with you no matter what and even sadder with the whole endgame stuff.

Haha- is it obvious? No haven't finished yet. Have about 70 hours in, up to arbor wilds (haven't started it). Still trying to clean up companion quests because I don't want to miss any of the ones available to me. I think Solas' won't be because he hates my guts. Seems I've been able to get everyone else's quests though. Also I'm delaying the ending- trying to savor what's left of the game.

Haha- is it obvious?
It...kinda is.
You'll see.
And Solas does get a bit prickly if he feels like you're going about things the wrong way. Perhaps on a subsequent playthrough you'll be able to get to know him a bit better. He really is a fascinating character. If you want to build up some approval with him, though, ask him about the Fade. He's a huge nerd, so you get approval bumps every time you ask him a question. Also, helping people in need gets you approval as well. And finally, if you do his "mapping the veil" quest (you get it by going to this one elven ruin in the Hinterlands) then you get approval for each elven artifact that you find.

I really enjoyed Cassandra's romance. For me, she's the ideal woman - I love warrior women who could rip me in half but don't, because they're good human beings. I started off romancing Josephine just to see what happened, and then I realized that she's the kind of person I recoil from in real life - a hardcore politician. * Shudder* So I cut that one off and went with Cassandra, who I had intended to romance from the get-go but didn't for whatever reason. Maybe because Scribbles was easy and it just sort of happened. Yay flings. But of all the characters, Cassandra felt the most real to me. I don't know, I just really liked her character arc and her romance arc. Question, though: why in the heck can't we continue interacting with our romances (and to that end, our inner circle) after the end of the story? Who made that design choice? It sucks, in my opinion. Everybody feels dead now.

Thanks for the tips! Guess I'll just have to have him tag along a little more often. I haven't had him in my party much because Vivienne seems to be the best Mage to use on hard fights and I love Dorian so if I don't need Viv I bring him. Sometimes I bring Viv and Dorian. Poor Solas just hangs out in his circle room painting cool murals. I think.

Dorian.
His playful arrogance, his intelligence, witty tongue, and his warm mushy center is just seriously well done. I have not had the heart to try anybody else but him, I just can't get past those hazel eyes...
