I've been sitting on 6 or 7 different types of gems (Ruby, Malachite, etc) because I wondered if they would end up being needed for a quest or upgrade. Is there anything, or am I wasting my time? Not having a storage area means having to dump a ton of stuff. I can't believe the number of "enhanced" rings I'm carrying now.
Is there ANY use for gemstones?

Some of them are used for requisitions. Since they get lumped into valuables along with your research items, I sold a ton of them before I realized. It's really dumb.

That's good to know. I'll hang onto them for a bit longer. I sell off a lot of other things that I've seen for sale in Val Royeaux for huge amounts of money (like over $1000 gold). I have this feeling that I'm going to regret that down the road when I have to re-buy something for a quest.

Requisitions really have no purpose, Power is super easy to get so go ahead and sell them. That is their primary purpose.

Yeah, you're gonna start ignoring requisitions pretty soon so there's no point to keeping them.
Though there isn't really a use for money either.

The only requisition I've come across has been one in the Exalted PLains that asks for Malachite. Since Power is really only used to unlock main story Operations and in a minor way to open up areas, I've got a stockpile of 150 power at this point that I don't have any use for. Yet.
What bugs me is that there is no way to cancel a requisition short of not taking it in the first place, and despite each one having clear and simple requirements, there is no way to see what a requisition actually involves before accepting it.

The irony here is that I got the malachite from a dead guy in the Hinterlands.
But other than that and the "banners for the Inquisition" one, I didn't come across others that required gemstones.
Sell the things.

Thanks for the feedback. I think I'll just clear the space, then.

Requisitions are the stupidity tax that lures suckers into spending crafting mats on the most worthless resource in the game, power. The only time you should EVER use the requisition table is to upgrade/Customize Skyhold. And those options take mostly logging stands/quarries along with some rune mats.

Gold is useful for buying large amounts of blood lotus, spindelweed, rashvine and elfroot since farming them is a pain in the ass.

Disagree. They can also level up your Inquisition level getting you more perks. Much better to hand in a bunch of iron and drakestone in Hinterlands for that since it's useless otherwise.

Speaking of.. how many perks can you expect to get by end game if you don't spam requisitions for them?
