You can get temporary ban with 1 point. Every point I've got has been accompanied with a ban. Dunno about permanent, I would leave that to b00gie to answer.

Yea they are random because I assumed that getting a point got you a temporary ban until this thread.

That was before the new forum. Back then, you had to get temp banned 5 times before qualifying for a permaban. However, moderators could bypass that and directly perma you if they deemed your offense gross enough. There were guidelines for that too, like profanity and violence threats and bla bla bla...

Pretty sure I had more than 5 temps in the old forum.

I knew a guy who had at least triple that amount and still was hanging around the forum.

They are technically unrelated.

 

You can be banned with no warning points. You can also get quite a lot of warning points without getting banned.

 

Each "Warning Point" is really a report filed with the BioWare Moderator Community that they can check back through to get a sense of a poster's history, when assessing how to handle a situation or report that might involve them.
