I've been playing slowly, doing all the little quests and collections to milk every ounce of XP.  I'm just wondering how high a level people are when they get close to the end of the game.  I've heard rumors of 30 being the cap.  What level can I realistically expect to get to, doing almost everything?

I was level 24 when I finished and the only things I didn't complete we're upgrading all potions, finding all decorations, and finding all bottles.

30 is the soft cap, but you can still gain more levels technically

I've cleared out all but two maps, haven't finished the main story and I'm around level 23. Got there by killing dragons, basically. I think I'll finish the game close to level 30, but not quite.  I'm guessing there's a way to manage the content better so you gain more levels.

I was level 26 with 114 hours played and all content explored with the exception of some mosaic tiles, a few bottles, and a few landmarks.  Inquisition caps at 20 (so you only get 20 perk points much to my dismay).

Also where you spend those perk points influences your epilogue.  So if you spend a lot of them in Forces you're seen as an army, Secrets a spy network to be feared, etc.

This. It's an odd number, but I was curious what the cap was so I saved, hacked my exp to an absurd number, checked level and reloaded. 27 is the cap.

Hmm, I don't know about being OP, but those bloody despair demons brought out a lot of rage in me. I was glad to stone-roll them when I could.

I was level 25 or 26, did everything except missing 1 bottle, a handful of mosaic tiles, two landmarks, a few treasure maps, and 1 small sidequest bugged out on me and was not completeable.

I messed up a little though when exploring maps. I ended up not getting a lot of xp because I was too high a level for a few of the maps by the time I got to them. Probably could max out the level cap if you hit every map at the levels you are supposed to.

I agree on the despair demons leaping away all the time, annoyed me aswel. Haha not OP? have you tried popping fade cloak aswel as not being able to run out if barrier when it's applied? And did i mention you can lock dragons in place with disruption field and the stasis lock upgrade? Fade cloak did most of the work when it explodes, hitting for 3-4k damage, which can be applied pretty much all the time. I know i won't play a knight-enchanter again, thats for sure. I know this is completely off topic, i'm sorry. Now i got it out of my system.

So they lied? There was supposed to be no hard cap.

I guess it's possible that it didn't work right because it was a quick hack.

They lied about many things in this game, doesn't surprise me.. but being lvl 24 after 125 hours played and pretty much everything completed, is good enough for me.

Level 21 at 130ish hours on my first play through and still not complete. Still have Lion and Hissing to clear as well as some war table areas. Just got Morrigan so don't know how far that puts me in terms of story line.

40/50 achievements so far so I'm guessing Im getting close to the end.

I suppose there are variations to the level depending on whether or not you take those Inq Perks allowing for XP bonuses for things like Codex entries, correct?

there is no cap and bioware confirmed this. You can level as much as you have life time, have fun getting only 1 xp from enemies later

Have done all the quests and zones, but still managed to miss some mosaics and 1 song and 1 bottle!!! Anyway... finished the game at lvl 24. The last dragon on Emprise du Lion gave me the XP to move past 23.
