When playing Mass Effect my screen continuously goes black but the sound in the background is still playing. It goes black for roughly 5-15 seconds then goes back to normally every 1-5 mins and seems to occur more while in a fire fight and while it is black the sound is still running fine I still hear the background music/sounds without any issues. Also when it goes black my CPU hits 100% usage.  I have tried updating all my drivers for everything. I have updated my BIOS, GFX card, MB, Sound Drivers etc.

My PC specs are:
Processor:      Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz (2 CPUs), ~3.0GHz
Memory:     4094MB RAM
Video Card:     NVIDIA GeForce 260GTX
Sound Card:     Onboard Realtek High Definition Audio  
Operating System:     Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Motherboard:     ASUS P5QL PRO
PSU:     HX620W

Also Assassins Creed, GTA 4, CSS, L4D2 and the 115 other steam games I have work fine and run without any issues.

I'm having almost the same issue, but when my screen goes black it generally comes back with degraded graphics and choppy frame rate.
