Story/Content/Roleplay wise, which brings more to the table? Human Male Mage, or Female Elven Mage (Solace Romance)? (No Spoilers!)

She is indeed the First of her clan.
That's what I thought. Do you have the option as a female elf to not be an insane fantatic about your old gods? Or as a dalish must you claim them every time?

You don't have to believe in them, no. You can be an agnostic or Athiest Dalish if you'd like. You can even be kind of ambivalent about the Dalish in general.
That's cool, but does it make sense though? A dalish, especially the first, must believe and warship the old gods right? That's why their dalish?

Would you say it was your favorite playthrough? What about vs. Other games?

I just keep thinking to myself, when were importing saves into DA4 (assuming their will be one) will it be awkward for history to say that the inquisitor was a female Dalish Elf mage?
wouldn't it just be Female dalish mage? how many dalish aren't elves?

I played a Dalish Female Elf Mage and boy did it make things different than what I've seen for the humans. You deal with being an outsider to others as well as being talked down to for being an elf/mage. You anger people for "siding" with mages (even if you don't) and get met as a semi-outsider by the Dalish/other elves.

The Dalish wouldn't accept a non-elf dalish.

I was going to do that. It's just that seems so generic and boring, (no offense).I'm really enjoying my male human mage. He's an Andrastian who is romancing Cassandra. It's a good story. I was actually leaning toward Josephine when I started, but Cassandra's journey is so good in that relationship.
You don't see people making posts praising human males like the ones about female elves mage's above.

I think that depends on who you want your character to be, after all, Clan Lavellan is supposed to be very tolerant of humans. My mage Lavellan is respectful of everyone's traditions, is open to all interpretations of religion, and is romancing Cullen. I see that as a sign of intelligence and wisdom.
On the other hand my archer who romanced Solas was the one who was antagonistic towards humans because she never had to deal with clan politics and was somewhat feral.

Great response. I feel my Lavellan will reflect my view on Andrastians, that the religion is ridiculous. It seems like when the elves were removed from their throne as the most powerful race, the Humans just started looking for things to worship. It sounds like a bunch of to me. The elves were around long before any mention of Andraste.I think that depends on who you want your character to be, after all, Clan Lavellan is supposed to be very tolerant of humans. Human Male Mage who romances Cassandra or Josephine.
I'd like to hear your reasoning why it's better. I haven't yet begin the playthrough and would love to hear your opinion.

Personally I just think it suits the story better. I can see the interesting perspective from playing an elven mage, but it feels very out of place with the chantry-heavy story. A human of any gender just seems the ideal choice for the story, even if the Solas/human interactions are interesting from a Dalish perspective. I find Solas more interesting as a mystery while playing a human than as a love interest as an elf. A romance with Cassandra, Josie or Cullen would be my ideal picks, they just suit an inquisitor better.
I would note, however, that playing both is possible and personally I would definitely do the elven playthrough at one point. However if we champion that there are no backsies and thus only one choice then I would pick a human male mage without hesitation. It suits the story very well and still have some unique nature to it. I don't feel like the Dalish inquisitor suits as well with the heavy handed Andrastian stuff.

I haven't played a complete human playthrough yet, but my first playthrough was a female elf mage romancing Solas. I can't imagine a better first playthrough.
My reasoning is - There are story points during the game that won't hit you as hard in repeat playthroughs, because you already know about them. And those story points I think mean more if you go the female elf route.

This is what the majority vote has told me, sounds to me like bioware struck gold somewhere. Whoever wrote the solas/dialogue extras for the female elf/elves in general with that extra years given time must of worked hard. Hopefully they can continue this trend with the positive feedback they have been given..

There's not much difference. I think most of what he says to an elven mage, he can also say to a human mage- with maaaaybe the exception of the blood magic conversation..?
I could be totally wrong about all that, though. I played an archer and romanced him.
Can anyone else weigh in on the truth of this? I want to do an elf playthrough with Solasmancing for sure. I also want to do an elf playthrough with Bullmancing for the giggles. (Debated whether dwarf or elf would be funnier, and I think the waif-y elf wins).
Thing is, I just did a devout Andrastian mage playthrough and was looking to mix it up. So does this hold, that there's little lost by Solasmancing on a rogue?

Very little difference. You get all of the elf stuff no matter what, and I'm pretty sure most of the mage stuff is said to all mages. There's one very specific dialogue option that you can take on his personal quest if you're a rift mage, though, which I thought was pretty cool. One of his flirts changes based on your class, but you get the flirt no matter what. It's just slightly different.

It's all great while the human mage is fairly generic.
Not true.
Human mages receive a great deal of extra content such as extra dialogue options, special reactions from NPCs, and even an interesting conversation with Vivienne.
Plus, unlike the Dalish IQ, they have a legitimate reason to be at the Conclave.
