Two of the more popular RPG's of recent that I enjoy for various reasons, despite their flaws and shortcomings. I enjoyed Skyrim's open world, do whatever you want adventure. DAI's fast paced combat is a definite improvement over its predecessors imo.

Since DAI's open world is heavily influenced from Skyrim, I'm curious to see how you RPG vets think DAI stacks up against Skyrim. Personally DAI reminds me more of Dragon's Dogma than anything.

If I had to choose one, I'd say Skyrim edges out DAI for having a more fleshed out world and rewarding exploration. But I guess it's safe to say, that DAI is Bioware's Skyrim.

Can't judge, both are incredibly different games. Set in entirely different universes. That would be like trying to compare X-men with Lord of the Rings.

I have to spend 20 hours modding Skyrim to make it playable and even then Maven Blackbriar still throws around idle threats like sicking the thieves guild or the dark brotherhood on me (which I am leader of both).

DA:I everyone knows who I am and what I'm capable of and all the people and choices (as limited as they may seem) know this.  As I do things (i.e. side with the mages or templars) the landscape changes to reflect my choices.

So I'd play Skyrim if I want to put my fingers in my ear and go "La la la I can't hear you breaking my immersion" when NPCs refuse to acknowledge things I've done.  DA:I is when I want my decisions in the game to amount to something (conceding that I would still like better dots connecting the content to larger story picture).

Both have their place.  Both have their merits.

I will sign any petition put forward to remove that font though.

Your post shows your level of maturity if you call yourself an adult. Why even bother replying to the thread then with unwarranted insults? I hope you are 12 years of age or under for your sake.

I agree, one of Bethesda's downfalls is NPC's treating you like crap, still calling you a 'milk drinker' after you've saved their city and livelihood. What's so bad about Comic Sans though? I thought the Bioware community was all for diversity and being different. <_<

You can't compare the two, even if they do have similar elements. They're two very different types of RPGs.

I think I would easily prefer DA:I over Skyrim. In DA:I the world changes, at least marginally, in reaction to what you've done. In Skyrim next to nothing changes no matter what you do or how powerful/influential you become.

On top of that, Skyrim is just filled to the brim with serious bugs so that I need a multitude of mods so that it's somewhat functional. Never mind the nightmare my sister experienced with her copy on the PS3 as it was the first time I've ever seen someone get a CTD on a console at that point.

I don't know, if Bethesda Game Studios didn't put out such broken games then it might be a closer comparison but at this point I wouldn't consider it a contest.

Skyrim has some of the most stupid quests I've ever seen. During the entire "Thieves Guild" quest you are in more open fights and dungeons than during the entire Companions questline, some random kid tells you to murder someone and you're like "Well, ok then" and kill her, the greybeards are a bunch of nuts who would rather see the world end before they teach you anything useful and the "Civil War" is a bunch of "capture the fort and report to Rikke" quests. The mages send you, the newcomer, out to save the entire world because Tolfdir would rather sit around and eat bread and noone ever takes notice of you being the archmage. And don't even get me started on the stupidity of the Dragonborn himself who apparently knows f*ck all about anything and keeps asking questions every child could answer.

Add the multitude of bugs/random crashes/freezes that never got fixed (like weapons not despawning on console so your save gets so bloated after 30 hours that the game just freezes every time you enter certain areas) and the rather dull combat to that. I never understood why Skyrim got so hyped and is regarded as one of the best games of all time, its horrible.

Oblivion's Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood guilds were way more enjoyable and fleshed out than Skyrim. But Skyrim's Thieves Guild was not half bad until the last crap quest of selling your soul for some Nightingale armor.

As I said in a previous post, Bethesda does have a bad track record of NPC's treating you like crap even after saving their city which was built around a nuclear bomb. Skyrim's other guilds were a joke but the reason I think Skyrim gets so much praise is because you can mod the crap out of it and turn it into a completely different game.

Also, Skyrim has so many memorable moments and personal experiences you can trade with other gamers. Like the first time I met the Greybeards, some hired thugs came in after me for a book I stole, days ago, from some Battleborn lady back in Whiterun. Watching the Greybeards shout these goons to death was epic. Of course, later that night, I picked her lock, snuck into her bedroom and paid that lovely lady a surprise visit.

This, I feel.

Personally, I find the style of RPG done by BioWare better than Bethesda.

You can easily compare them. Sure it comes down to opinions like always, but you should still be able to compare them. If there are two things to compare and they're both in the same category as in video games, movies or food that's as easy as it gets.

And to answer this kinda pointless question, personally I prefer DA:I over Skyrim.

I played the game with mods and it was a lot better, thats true. But the console version of the game is horrid

Elder Scrolls has better lore, Dragon Age has better writing overall. Though both are open world style games their gameplay is so different there is almost no point in comparing.

Honestly though Morrowind is the only worthwhile ES title.

Skyrim interface was a lot easier to get use to. But starting to get the hang of DAI. I still don't like the story as much as I did DA:O. Where is the vigilance in this game?

Good + in Skyrim

- Great Open World where you could swim and climb up the mountains.

- Large Cities and Towns with different settings to explore

- Great mainquest and great guild quests

- Huge caves and dungeons to explore

- Huge Modding Community and lots of mods to install

Bad - in Skyrim

- Boring characters and companions

- No Cutscenes

- No Multiplayer or coop

- Lots of bugs (some have been fix over the time)

I spent more then 1000 hours in Skyrim. Would give it a 93/100

__________________________________________

Good + in DAI

-.Great mainstory and many great companion quests

- Epic cutscenes

- Lots of characters cameos from the last games.

- Decisions you made can be altered in DA Keep

- Epic LOOT

- Beautiful new world made with Frostbyte Engine

Neutral +/- in DAI

- Multiplayer (Not tested yet) (I enjoyed ME3 Multiplayer though for a long time, but with hacked lobbies all the fun is gone.)

- Static world with static boss encounters. (Dragons dont roam the land like in Skyrim. They just stay at their spot)

Bad - in DAI

- Worst Keyboard/Mouse Support in a DA Game (How did this game leave quality check?)

- Complicated Menus made for consoles and not optimized for PC

- Worst Tactical Cam of all DA Games. In caves and buildings you cant zoom out at all. It was bad in DA2, but DAI is worse.

- Extremly exaggerated health of bosses makes fights boring and tedious. (hard and nightmare)

- Cant swim or climb mountains.

- Mounts dont have any use. Not really faster then running and you miss party banter, nor can you pick up flowers.

- Many tedious collecting quests. (Just huge and useless timesinks to increase the playtime and feels grindy)

- Small caves and dungeons

- Bugs... lots of bugs

I would rate it DAI 85/100

If they fix the consoles menus and give us the tactical cam we had in DAO I would rate it 90 /100 at most.

So Skyrim wins for me... Sorry Bioware. But I will keep buying your games if you fix the PC issues.

Really agree with all of these points but lack of the world responding to what you do in game has always made me feel 'lonely'.  These are the TES games in general, lord knows I've gone all the way back to Daggerfall days and with BW to the Baulder Gate series.  With the BW games I've always loved being able to venture and adventure with companions, always felt much more a part of the world.  They both have their good and bad points, but if I had to buy only one it would be the BW games, there is just much more immersion, where TES games have always been much more about wandering about, albeit, lonely.  BTW I like your font  :)
