If I had to choose between the two, I would probably go for Skyrim. It is as you have said more fleshed out. The world seems larger because you can run to the different locations and find things on the way.

Area wise DA has a wider feel. The Hissing Wastes is huge, but Markarth probably has more depth and things to explore. But one is still only a city and the other is a huge desert to explore.

Classes. Personally I hate the way DA2 and Inq railroad your character. In Origins I could have a heavy armour wearing dual wielding mage. In Skyrim I could literally do what the hell I liked. In DA:I I have some MMO type abilities and skills and no real customisation. I want my warrior to wield a sword and dagger or two swords. Or my mage to use a great sword. So Skyrim wins there.

Also inventory wise I don't like the way I cannot equip more gear. I don't want to upgrade my armour with legs and arms, I want to find cool unique boots on a boss.

Story wise, I think DA:I just takes it. Skyrim has two fun main plots (not including expansions as DA hasn't been out long enough for fair comparison there) but DA:I's story feels more epic.

Crafting I think Skyrim is more in depth and the fact that all armours look radically different is more fun than the more or less samey looking stuff for DA:I.

And someone mentioned that you have to mod the hell out of skyrim for it to be fun. Well, it isn't essential but yeah mods make the game great. I couldn't play vanilla Skyrim anymore, not because it was bad, but have you seen the amazing things people have done with the toolset? I was amazed that Bioware left out a toolset for DA:I, check out sales because that game still makes top 10 seller lists and that is largely because of the amazing modding community.

Origins and DA2 have some seriously amazing mods available that richly enhance the game.

So Skyrim wins hands down there too.

On the whole, don't make me choose, they are both great games and have different pros and cons, but if it had to be just one, it would be Skyrim, probably down to mods and the amazing things people can do.

Bad - in Skyrim

- No Cutscenes

That's actually the best part about TES games, not having to sit through stupid long cutscenes, you get the opportunity to actually get involved in stuff.

Heretic! Cutscenes are the best thing in Dragon Age Inquisition!

Also whats the problem with this persons font? Like really is the internet that bad that if someone doesn't use size 10 arial then they are some kind of freak that doesn't deserve an opinion?

Its big, its easier to read and it isn't pure evil or anything. It's just different, and if your saying that the font is no good because its different, then thats fontism. Which is like racism but for writing.

@ De Vulus, I seriously think just the text will do. Cut scenes in every single dialogue is boring and tedious, once I've read the subtitles, I do nothing but skip to the next dialogue.

I hope Bioware left all the time that goes in to every cut scenes and  dialogues out, when they arrived at the game time of around 200 hours.

Skyrim has a better open world, quests, and even a better main story. Dragon age has better character interactions though. But yeah its obvious skyrim is the better game. I cant wait to see TW3 vs DAI when it comes out theres going to be some straight up dope fights going on here.

If this were a matter of Morrowind vs. Inquisition, then it'd be no hard choice to make on my end. Skyrim for all it's pretty graphics felt like an empty shell compared to Morrowind and it's subsequent expansions, though I'm sure people also feel the same in regards to Daggerfall and Morrowind. In terms of Inquisition and Skyrim, however, I much prefer the writing in Inquisition. The writing in Skyrim was spotty at best, with some factions receiving stellar stories to go along with their quests and others being honestly nothing special. In the end it's up to personal preference.

Do you prefer a huge open world with very little written substance where you can do whatever you want, but at the sacrifice of the overall story?

Or a more restricted world where the writing is the center focus and the shenanigans you can get into are tapered off as a result?

i am sorry but please change the font for people to take u seriously. those are what? balloons? it may look 'cute' on a presentation but it really silly to use it forums.

Freedom of choice, what can I say? If the font bothers you that much, don't read what I post. You sound like the silly one, making a big deal about the font I use. If it bothers you that much, ask Bioware to remove the font selection. No wonder the gaming community get a bad rep. We argue and insult each other any and everything, no mater how small and insignificant.

Skyrim wins for me.

Having said that though, one should bear in mind that Skyrim was also poorly ported to PC, and was only made what it was by mods. It is a bit of a shame DA:I is apparently unmoddable, because with mods I reckon DA:I could topple Skyrim from its throne.

Had this been Oblivion vs DA: I I'd have given it to Oblivion but Skyrim is well....

It's overhyped and the main story is paper thin.

Sure its gorgeous, but it's just like a celebrity super model. Nice to look at but about as deep as the shallow end in a kids pool.

Good + in Skyrim

- Great Open World where you could swim and climb up the mountains.

- Large Cities and Towns with different settings to explore

- Great mainquest and great guild quests

- Huge caves and dungeons to explore

- Huge Modding Community and lots of mods to install

Bad - in Skyrim

- Boring characters and companions

- No Cutscenes

- No Multiplayer or coop

- Lots of bugs (some have been fix over the time)

I spent more then 1000 hours in Skyrim. Would give it a 93/100

__________________________________________

Good + in DAI

-.Great mainstory and many great companion quests

- Epic cutscenes

- Lots of characters cameos from the last games.

- Decisions you made can be altered in DA Keep

- Epic LOOT

- Beautiful new world made with Frostbyte Engine

Neutral +/- in DAI

- Multiplayer (Not tested yet) (I enjoyed ME3 Multiplayer though for a long time, but with hacked lobbies all the fun is gone.)

- Static world with static boss encounters. (Dragons dont roam the land like in Skyrim. They just stay at their spot)

Bad - in DAI

- Worst Keyboard/Mouse Support in a DA Game (How did this game leave quality check?)

- Complicated Menus made for consoles and not optimized for PC

- Worst Tactical Cam of all DA Games. In caves and buildings you cant zoom out at all. It was bad in DA2, but DAI is worse.

- Extremly exaggerated health of bosses makes fights boring and tedious. (hard and nightmare)

- Cant swim or climb mountains.

- Mounts dont have any use. Not really faster then running and you miss party banter, nor can you pick up flowers.

- Many tedious collecting quests. (Just huge and useless timesinks to increase the playtime and feels grindy)

- Small caves and dungeons

- Bugs... lots of bugs

I would rate it DAI 85/100

If they fix the consoles menus and give us the tactical cam we had in DAO I would rate it 90 /100 at most.

So Skyrim wins for me... Sorry Bioware. But I will keep buying your games if you fix the PC issues.

I agree. That about sums up my pros and cons between the two. I will say, the mounts for games suck, but DAI's mounts are a tad bit faster than Skyrim. DAI's multiplayer is cool, but not as good or intricate as ME 3's multiplayer with its limited skill trees to level up from. It becomes a bit of a drag with only 3 maps to explore.

I assume more maps and characters will be added with DLC. I'm surprised there are no dragons or more bosses to fight in multiplayer for high leveled players. Also unlocking characters is a bit of a chore, having to craft armor to unlock them. I'd rather they use ME 3's random system of just unlocking characters from purchasing crates.

Modded Skyrim is my favourite game of all time. I carefully modded my Skyrim for more then a year and it grew to over 500 mods big, where each and every one of them is lore friendly and adds to immersion. Played in 3D Vision, nothing comes close in immersion.

DAI I wouldnt even compare to Skyrim, its nothing like it. In atmosphere and gameplay its typical MMO, just without any other players and with some major issues. Sorry, Bioware, but not even close. You need to stop chasing open world RPGs and MMOs, and go back to your roots and do the next game fully moddable (you did it before, NWN, remember?).

ps/ vanilla Skyrim easily wins over DAI also but for me there is no vanilla Skyrim anymore. Mods make such a huge difference and fix many lacklaster things in game (like boring perks, deserted world, useless dragons, non interesting loot, ugly NPCs and so on)

DAI's inventory management is one of it's main downfalls imo. No 'auto-equip' option after finding, crafting or modifying gear. It would save more time if you could just select a party member from the menu and see everything available for that particular character instead of sorting through bows, staves, helmets and so on. The level and race restriction for gear is also annoying.

I understand why Bioware implemented it, but constantly scrolling past restricted gear, through different categories, just to compare it with what your character is equipped with 20 plus hours in, makes it a chore.

With the Dark brotherhood mount I climbed the highest mountains ;) Mounts have had a great use in Skyrim.

Your post shows your level of maturity if you call yourself an adult. Why even bother replying to the thread then with unwarranted insults? I hope you are 12 years of age or under for your sake.

Unwarranted? Why should choosing a silly font be immune from critique? Though it's really Bio's fault for letting you do it.

I really don't like Skyrim.  It's not my type of RPG.  The story was only a few hours long with massive exploration and tons of sidequests.  For me, there needs to be a reason to go and explore the world.  I have to have a strong story and good characters.  I much prefer Inquisition.  It could do with less ten-ram-meats type quests, though.

Personally I don't think it's exactly fair to compare a game where the main highlight is it's modded support which can allow you to tailor your experience to your exact tastes to a game where at best the engine it came with might allow for SOME recolors if even that. But that's just me.

Honestly even though I have beaten Skyrim several times and have completed all of the guild campaigns (if you can call them that), there is still so much left to do (crafting, upgrading, daedric, etc) and I haven't even begun to explore all of Inquisition so I can't compare them yet. I will say this though, they both love to LOCK UP at inopportune moments (360)  ^_^

You are comparing community created content to Vanilla content. Not Vanilla vs Vanilla, therefore it's an unfair comparison.

I know. But vanilla Skyrim is still a better game. Its just modded Skyrim is like the best ever :D

Its thanks to Bethesda too that we got so many amazing mods. And I hope Bioware will realise that mods prolongue

game's life tenfold and adds support for them in next game.

With mods like exploding chickens, macho man dragons and cheese for everyone, why would ever go back to vanilla?

Can you make your font smaller? It looks like you shout in every post
