Because just like KOTOR series and Revan, folk won't accept the HoF's time has passed.

Understandable that folk didn't like Hawke, DA II was a mediocre game and the HoF was still in their Prime (In time line continuity)

It has been 10 years since the HoF ended the Blight so they would be in their late 30's - Early 40's thus they are becoming close to Duncans age (the age of the Calling) and are becoming corrupted by the Taint.

However folks won't let them bow out just like the Revan fans wouldn't let Revans time simply pass and I fear the HoF will suffer a similar fate to Revan.

Become a boss in a future game that has minimal dialogue, gets slain and disregarded after 30 seconds of it sinking in.

So remember them fondly, head canon how their tale ends, but stop pushing the envelope. ..

Or Bioware may give the HoF a fate you won't like.

It happened to Revan and the Exile.

Don't think it can't happen to the HoF.

i belive the same thing the only choice easy to implement for the developers on new installament of DA series is the Ultimate personal sacrifice, all others ending are just an illusion for minimal and usless cameo or less like a letter oe even less a reference.

Its about time to let go of the HoF. Warden is my favorite protagonist of all 3. I want a quick mention of him living with his family (Morrigan and son  ^_^) in Highever or something and leave it at that. The Warden played his/her game, and demanding more from him/her is too much now that we got a new fresh protagonist. Believe me, I would love seeing my Warden again but his time to retire has come. Although for those Wardens still alive, they could make them return to Ferelden after the Calling thing and continue working as the military commander. Seeing that we will most likely be playing in Northern Thedas now, Ferelden and the Warden will not have much of a role but it will be simple enough to mention what's going on in there.

it will be a solution but  i belive that Morrigan is a sort of icon for this game and is possible to her to be present in the next games as well, this have implications about the presence of her son because he is always with her , but he is an optional character and this will require always more effort for development and also momre optional dialogue conversation.
