Okay, I have search all over this sight and even Google (did not help in the slightest) and have this one question:

How do you know which armors you can and cannot modify BEFORE you make them. Seriously, it is getting pretty annoying that I have to save every time I want to make something because I don't want to risk wasting resources. For instance, I tried making Templar armor, but once it got to the modding part, I couldn't do anything. The mods are the same type of armor, and are even the same materials, but no go. Am I missing something here? is the reason why it won't let me modify it because it is a 'unique' armor? If so, that would suck, since the Templar, Dragon, and Warden armors are the only unique armors I have come across so far (lvl 22) that aren't complete crap. I mean, what's the point of even having armor creation if nearly every single armor you make looks and does the exact same thing?

But back to the main question: How do you know what armors/weapons you can and cannot modify?

you don't know, but in general you can tell from the look of the armor.  If the style of the armor changes between characters it should have mod slots (like the look of vanguard armor changes btwn cass and blackwall) whereas the ones that do not afaik do not have mod slots (orlesian/grey warden armors)

That's weird then, because the Templar one actually changes depending on who's wearing it... At least for me (could have been hallucinating). Really wish Bioware would have put something in for this.

Still, it sucks how all the good looking and useful armors can't be made any better without mods.

Templar, and Grey Warden armors (and a few other lore specific ones) Do not change depending on who's wearing them.
