If you're doing "Before the Dawn" in that area you can just read the note and leave.

Don't even know what you're talking about.

I can't progress in that area because of the abundance of giants.
Time for some upgrades or a change of party? Nothing can even touch my Sword and Board Blackwall (No, Seriously, he hasn't fallen in battle in the last 4 days) and my Rogue Inquisitor is the only other person I need to have alive to finish any fight I've come across.
I'm working with a measly 175DPS bow and easily dropping anything in front of me.
What party/setup are you using?

Me(two-handed reaver), cass my tank, Dorian my Mage, and Sera my rouge. I can easily kill one and the second one, but then a third and fourth are hard to kill and a fifth one spawns. Is it normal for Giants to just spawn like this?

While I was attacking those Giants I also had those Armoured bears get hit by my AOE so they were Aggro'd.
That was fun. After I had killed a Dragon

Yea, my experience was even worse, would fight a giant, and another would join, kill one and three rhino things would join in then as I get my arse whooped, three more giants would spawn and three more rhinos would join in then I would die gloriously in a laggy wave of spell effects and 4 giants and 6 rhinos.
Fun times. =P

Oh I got the Rhino things too.
I wish the giants respawned so I could battle until I died

These giant are actually the one place where its been hard for me, mostly because taunt seems to have no effect at all. The times Ive been there the giants have been chasing me non stop while Cassandra runs after taunting them, but they continue to chase me. I only won because my two other party members could attack without being interrupted.

I just ran past them to claim the landmarks and ran out. I got no beef with giants.

I got you all beat! I fought all of the giants and had used all of my potions, had very little health left and was near where the Dragon comes in.... yeah, the Dragon swoops down out of nowhere and I hit him once and booked it out of there lol

This might not be the issue, but Blackwall is an infinitely more stalwart tank than Cassandra. The Champion spec makes all the difference in the world.

Seriously, by level 17, killing Giants was one of my favorite pastimes. They are so adorably slow and dumb. The closest thing this game has to a combat dummy.
Cassandra needs more resilient combat dummies anyway ![]()

I found that the giants can be skirted around in that area, but frankly, what's beyond them is just as difficult.
More difficult, actually. It's a L20+ rift. I went there at L15, killed one L16 giant and sneaked around the other two to claim the landmarks. Then I alsmot stumbled into the rift and saw the red skulls on the demons and hightailed it out of there, but not before having taken three healing potions' worth of damage and then some.

I killed the whole tribe solo with just my Knight Enchanter. That was pretty fun. Immortality can get so dull sometimes.

OK this is a necro, apologies for that. But I've just ran into this area right now.
After some not-so-good positioning on my part, I ended up fighting a pitched battle against:
1 - Great Bear (being attacked by one of the giants at the time)
1- Giant
5 - Druffalos, all aggroed due to my abuse of AOE abilities.
1- Partridge in a Pear Tree.
I felt it best to ignore the partridge, as it wasn't really much of a direct threat, and concentrated upon the giant. After the giant fell, and the bear became bored and wandered off with Cassandra furiously chasing it, with the five druffalos in tow like carriages on an abominable train, a second giant of an opportunistic nature who happened to be plodding around nearby, felt that now would be the ideal time to join in the festivities.
Throughout all that high jinx, the only one to fall was (embarrassingly) my DW Rogue High Inquisitor, although soon resurrected by Dorian, bless him. Cassandra just shrugged off all damage, Sera wasn't anywhere close, and Dorian's necro-thingamabobs kept him nicely healed.
More giants awaited me after that battle, and I can hear what seems to be a dragon flying around overhead. Not sure how to get to that yet, or even if I want to...
The partridge is still there, to the best of my knowledge.

The real fun begins when two or three of them start kicking and swinging their arms at the same time, you can't get up for ~ a minute and they just stomp you into the dirt while the Inquisitor yells "Blackwall needs help!" for the entire thing.

LOL I hate that feeling of helplessness as I get knocked back repeatedly.
Before DA2 Force nerfs it was a living hell.
