Seriously, what's with the beards?

So what is with the beards in this game? I can honestly say that these are without a doubt, the worst beards I've ever seen in any game. I didn't think anything could ever possibly be worse than the beards in Fallout 3, but somehow Bioware managed to beat it hands down. Not only are the beards basically 2D, with really weird overlapping, but the stubble looks like the inquisitor couldn't grow a beard, but really really wanted one, so he took a sharpie and started dotting his face with the marker to draw himself some stubble.

How did this pass quality control? And why is it that Blackwall's and Hawke's beards are so awesome, but the players are stuck with these things?

It's so weird considering everything else is pretty decent, that the low res and low quality of the beards and hair just totally stick out to me.

In most cases it doesnt even fit the jawline so there are visìble holes on the sides. Even fake beards fit better than that.

Wish it had my beard or just more variaty..

actors and other celebrities have decent short beards/ stubbles. I dont see why they couldnt have taken them as an example instead of something wierd. The arrow guy got decent one i guess.

The weird part is some of them don't even touch the face so you have to expand the cheeks and mouth out to touch it properly, i experienced this 3 times which caused me to remake at level 7 at a couple different cut scenes. The sharpy mess is a ****** off as well as the lack of difference between each race, oh nvm only difference is... Nothing. It's just points more for console based, Like the lack of adding more is to not keep cost down but make it easier for ps3 to load is what it feels like.

I don't think it has anything to do with a platform. Ugly is ugly.  I hope Bioware remedies thiis.

For the life of me I don't understand why Bioware modelling artist apparently are in-capable of creating dynamic adaptive beards.

The beard should morph with the face, not the system we have now, were we have to alter the face shape to fit the beard.

Cut them some slack, either you get the customization of facial features or restricted faces that match beards

I actually found that my dwarf's beard did exactly that - morph with the face. It stuck to the jaw as I moved it, there was never any space between. I'm on PS4, maybe this is platform related?

I play both on PC (really not playing the PC version at the moment. My game crashes every time I get into the game after character creation) and Xbox One ( a friend  of mine plays on the PS4). I tried the beard and it is like that... the beard does not attach to the face, A few of them seems to fall off or floats off the face.  Please allow Bioware to  investigate this or to comment upon it.

It definitely did not do that for me when creating my Dwarf  Warrior on PS4. I had to change the cheeks size to fit, lest the beard would not touch the face in some places and clip trough it in others.

Yes, truly those are the only two options.

Hm, maybe what I experienced was the clipping rather than adjusting. But I definitely never had a gap.

Mind the gap boys..... Whoops Wrong gaps. We don't want to see the Gaps in our Dwarven beards. Guess Bioware employees where spending too much time on The Chive Minding the the wrong gaps rather then making a proper Character Creation.

For all of it's flexibility, the CC kind of stinks for many characters (I think females are way easier to work with).

That's because they focused more on the female's to fulfill their fantasy needs rather then the males which where just an after thought.

I liked the beards for the Dwarves in DAO. The human beards though sucked on DAO. DA2 beards were acceptable. But in DAI it felt like they took several steps backwards in the beard department.

On a different note, is anyone working with porting the dwarven beards from DAO to DAI? Somebody made a mod with tattoos. Dwarven beard should be more intricate compared to human beards. Maybe it's just my preference. Always liked Dwarves with braided beards and such... way cool... :D

It may have something to do with the Frostbite engine and how it was made with battlefield in mind and not Fantasy RPGs.

Perhaps DA4 will feature a engine made to make full use of the next gen and a engine made for this genre.

doesn't seem so with all the manly hairline the hair have and the sideburns.
