Need help installing Extra Dog Slot (and possibly DAModder?)

I'm playing DAO one last time to import my save into DAI.

Problem is I've played the game so many times that I want a few mods to fix minor annoyances. Skip the Fade for when I get there, fix the bugged Fang (the City Elf's mother's dagger) for when I get there, the "No Helmet Hack" mod, and the Extra Dog Slot. As long as I don't have to see the Fade or those goofy helmets/cowls, and can bring my dog with me everywhere and use my mother's dagger, I'll be happy.

So far I've used WinZip to download Fang Tier 7 and Skip the Fade and placed them into the Bioware/Dragon Age/packages/core/override folder. While I haven't gotten to those parts of the game yet, they seem to have downloaded just fine.

However, I've hit a road block with Extra Dog Slot. I'm currently in Lothering, just recruited Leliana, and want to install the Extra Dog Slot so I don't have to part with my pooch. However, when I used WinZip to download and place it directly into the core/override folder, I got the Contents Folder and a Manifest Sheet, and no dog whistle in-game (which the mod promised). I've looked around for solutions (here and here) and the general consensus seems to be that I should download DA Modder, which will instantly integrate it into the game for me.

Problem is, I don't know how to download DAModder. The Nexus comes with no instructions, and every time I try to look up instructions on how to install it, the website just gives explanations on how to install mods with it. They all assume you've already downloaded it, which I haven't.

The closest thing I got to help was this guy uploading this video on how to install it, but he recommended clicking on Dragon Age and pulling up the Steam Folder. I don't have Steam with Dragon Age.

So, I'm at a loss. I just want to install this stupid Extra Dog Slot mod so I can have a full party and bring my dog along, and I don't know how to do it.

Help?

You have to install the mods, unless they are specified as an override mod (sticking them in override won't work unless they are made to go there). Use DAUpdater to install any mods that are in DAZIP format. Get the dazips out of override and put them on your desktop. Find daupdater.exe (usually in C:\Program Files (x86)\Dragon Age\bin_ship\DAUpdater.exe Or look where you have DAO installed to find the \bin_ship\DAUpdater.exe

Run DAUpdater.exe and choose the dazips on your desktop... install selected.. enjoy :D

Download damodder here And make sure you unzip into your game installation folder, I made a new folder named My_Tools (I keep the chargen morph compiler, DAModder and other mod programs in it. C:\Program Files (x86)\Dragon Age\My_Tools

EDIT:

Thank you! I'm following your advice about finding "C:\Program Files (x86)\Dragon Age\bin_ship\DAUpdater.exe" and taking the dazips out of override and into that. Fang Tier 7 seems to be made for override (that's what the Nexus description says), so I'll leave it there. Skip the Fade seems to be a dazip, so I've moved it to daupdater. It seems to have worked great, thank you. =)

DAModder. I can't find my installation folder. Do you mean I really should click "Program Files (x86)" then "Dragon Age" then create a whole new file called "My_Tools"?

luna1124: I followed your advice and got Skip the Fade successfully installed with DAUpdater, so all's well that ends well there.

On DAModder, I tried following your advice by clicking on "Program Files (x86)" then clicking on "Dragon Age" then making my own "My_Tools" folder there, but it didn't work. When I tried to have WinZip unzip the downloaded DAModder folders into the new "My_Tools" folder, it kept refusing. A window with a large red x and puzzer noise would pop up saying that "x" file of DAModder is not meant to go there. I guess I'll keep poking around at it.

Is it the Windows permissions won't let you unzip into the directory of your choice? I hate that :/

Make sure you set permissions so you are allowed to do this.

Unzip to desktop....Try copying the unzipped DAModder 2-1-2-286 folder and contents and pasting it into My_Tools
