What am i doing wrong? even despiar demons are killing me easy. Same with those guys with the huge hammers. Is it that I don't have good gear? I pulled off finishing the game with a warrior. But this second play through is harder and more frusterating. I know stats don't change when you level up. So what am i missing? Gear?
Level 6 with a rogue in secondplay through on easy. Getting murdered.

With the bow she does little damage, and she is fragile. She dies easy.

This might help you get on your way:
There's lots of vids on YT, this one just agrees with how I play it. It might not fit your playstyle. At least, it shows and explains a build, and demonstrates its use.
Hope this helps!

I'm trying to build a character that uses "neutral"rogue skills that can switch between dagger and bow.
But she can only do damage with the daggers and the bow for her sucks.
She dies easy, can't find good armour. Despair demons keep murdering her.
Do stats do ANYTHING?
Or am i just going to hunt for gear?

well, despair demons are lvl 12 or higher, so thats probably why.

Yeah, level 6 seems kind of low to be fighting dementors.

If you can't remember where the stronger enemies are from your first play through, use the Tac View to check out an enemy's level before engaging. Like the above posters said, I can't remember any level 6 Despair Demon.
I don't see a build which would fare well using daggers and bows. After you gain some levels, money shouldn't be a problem, so you can respec at will.

What people above said. There aren't any Despair Demons below level 12 (not in Hinterlands at least). No wonder they keep killing you at level 6.
Thanks will check it out.

Tat's not a very good idea. You cannot do that mid-combat (so it makes no real sense to switch, except for something lik dragons perhaps?) and weapon talents are very powerful in this game. Focus on either daggers or bow, take evade and stealth. If you choose a bow, stay back.
Long Shot detonates combos (freezed/stunned/paralyzed) so try to use it, when your party members cause those effects on enemies. Leaping Shot is very useful to get out of melee range and deal some solid damage. Full Draw will deal good damage and put enemies into sleep, where they can be killed with combos by warriors/mages. I don't have much advice on DW rogue, cause I don't have much experience in using it so far.

Simple flowchart of what to do with a rogue,
Are there Archers on the field - If yes murder them quickly
Are there Mages ont he field - If yes Murder them quickly
If there are Archers and Mages on the field, kill archers first, they hurt more. Then kill mages.
Leave the big bad guy with a shield or two hander for last. The guy with the shield is just annoying, while the twohander is deadly.

If the enemies are more than two levels above you, flee.
If the enemies are two levels above you, expect a tough fight
If the enemies are your own level they should be quite doable
If the enemies are two or more levels below you, they're not dragons or giants and you're not wiping the floor with them, you're doing something wrong.

Dagger rogue is fairly simple; invisibility - find ranged mooks - shadow strike to begin battle - death blow should mostly finish your target. Sleep powder is on the SS path and can take non magical enemies (and a few demons) out of the fight while you clean house. Rogues should never be getting hit by big 2-handers.

The point is moot since it's a leveling build up to 10 points. After that, you probably have your own ideas!

Indeed. DW Rogue is on my list. Just there is nothing to apologize for.

Two general rules for a Rogue.
- Focus on killing weak enemies that do lots of damage -- archers and mages. This is, BY DESIGN, your primary role in game. Not doing this is like a tank not tanking and asking, "Why am I losing?"
- Use Stealth, Evade, and/or upgraded Flank Attack to get out when you start taking damage. Better yet, learn how to get out of bad situations before you start taking damage.
More obvious advice would be, don't auto-attack when you have abilities ready and check enemy levels, but I don't want to insult your intelligence OP.

First thing is first. Craft some daggers. If you can't, no worries. But as soon as you can, make them. Been using my 216 Damage daggers for a while now.
Besides Twin Fangs and Ripping Fangs, the next ability you should get ASAP is vanish and then its bonus, Lost in the Shadows. The fact you have access to this good of a vanish this early in the game is OP.
After that, pickup Flank Attack
To start battles, Vanish, walk up to a mage/archer, twin fangs. He will die.
Then, make sure your warrior is taunting, your mages should be AOEing.
Other important abilities:
Easy to miss - enemies 25% less likely to target you. This, coupled with Vanish, is very helpful at survival.
Knockout Powder is great. It works two ways - it can help you survive and escape, or it can help you murder people if you progress down the skill tree.
Most importantly, make sure you are behind enemies. Flank Attack works wonders for this.
Pointless ability: Parry. Why did they even put this in?
Focus on poison tree as you level, get all the way to Explosive Toxin.
If you position yourself behind enemies and have a good tank, your rogue will murder people.

Just want to add -
that once you get the hang of using the DW Rogue, you will be able to start murdering Captains in heavy armor or Abominations. The argument that DW Rogues are meant for weaker enemies is false.
Even on nightmare, the rogue is one of the most powerful characters in the game. But, he is that character that you have to learn how to use so he can be potent.

You can put the shields to sleep with upgraded full draw from the front, which combined with their 270deg aoe attack means I'm not sure the "you have to flank them" mechanics works all that well

but i still have to ask, what about the bad guys tha have 100% AoE damage, I know there is a "sweet spot" but its such a small spot and I swear the models don't line up correctly on them.
Other than completely sitting out of the fight is there anything (other than guard on hit) you can do? cause you know sitting there doing nothing to contribute is lame.

Rogues are always, and I mean always used for flanking or range in this game. Think hammer and anvil, have a tank or two pin down your enemy then circle your rogues in behind into the enemy’s back where your rogues will do the most damage. My party was always two warriors one rogue and a mage. My warriors would taunt form sheild walls etc. Then, my rogue and mage would circle to the flank. My other maxim is ranged vs ranged, keep ranged characters focused on keeping ranged enemies off your warriors to help keep your front lines guard up. I always treated my mages as ranged. I found that 'battlemages' could help my rogue finish ranged enemes quickly so they could (afterword) double up on the enemies my warriors were fighting. If the enemy turns to face you, evade, use pitch bombs to slow them down and make sure your warriors finish them off. Your gear could be bad too, try crafting a few things. Moreover, if you are only level 6 don't be fighting lvl 12 despair and terror demons especially if you don’t have good gear. They are double your strength. lol . . Always think in battle ratios, 2:1 is obviously better than 1:1, always be looking to press the number advantage (a higher ratio for you means more dps against one enemy). Finaly, be mindfull of your skill build.

They always telegraph their big moves, so just move out of the way then. Also your mages or your warrior tanking the guy should put out some crowd control, use that time. You can't just stand there unleashing all your damage, you have to avoid damage too, which admittedly lowers your DPS, but let's face it that DPS would be ridiculously high otherwise. Rogue's are assassins, they burst damage, that is why they are perfect for squishy targets (mages and archers mostly) because you jump on them and they are dead with no way to counter. Stronger enemies don't die in one burst, so you need to take your time and look for the right opportunities to go crazy on em.

Your mistake was choosing rogue, the only class with no barrier/shield/guard.

The only really annoying skills are the homing targeted attacks like the boulders Giants chuck. For those you need stealth, flank attack, or evade.
