Right now i just been using Stealth + Long Draw or Stealth + Explosive Shot.  Other than that i don't see anything else worth getting.  I tried spike traps with stealth but it seems lacking.  Is Throwing Knive any good?  Is it a circle aoe or a cone?

It's fast and helpful in a pinch. It strikes randomly targets in front of you.

Throwing knives has a short cooldown but "appropriate" low amount of damage. I have the upgrade for it and even the +30% damage ring but, unless I get crits, it doesn't even kill normal mobs on threatening with a 150 dps bow :/

It does seem to stagger pretty often though, so I guess it's alright as a defensive option.

Doesn't hunter have those throwing bombs like the alchemist? How you don't see that as worth getting is beyond me, pal.

I love the hunter, and my advice would be to not trying to play him like the archer.

See him more as a close combat rogue but with a bow (yeah sound weird)

I personally use explosive shot/Throwing knives with upgrade/escape shot (the one that make u jump behind) and mines (with upgrade). Spam all this **** in front of you and with passives, the lower is your stamina, the more damage you do, closer your are from ennemy, more damage you do.

That's my final build after three promote, i feel poison cloud useless, same for traps.

Also, getting a good bow help a lot, all abalities scales on weapon damage.

I still think, even with my build i am not as efficient and safe as would be an archer, but it's way more fun to play :)

you mean the trap that the alchemist can spam 5 times and there is only one passive that benefits it?

Is spike trap any good?

I was curious to try out a quasi-combat engineer build with him once I crafted his armor.

I don't know what Throwing Knives you are using but mine easily one shots almost any enemy on Threatening with a 120 Bow... Are you not using Stealth?

set them up?  that 25% isn't gonna make traps worth it.  traps are crappy only because the alchemist has a flask that can spam them.  it's way better to get abilities that let you stealth combo 100% crit brah.

I've been doing Perilous runs with an extremely successful Hunter who uses poison at choke points and Leaping Shot from stealth for oodles of instant damage. It works very well but probably wouldn't be worth it on Threatening with a solid group. Also really requires a heal on kill ring to deal with attrition given how brawly that playstyle is. Me'n mine have actually veered away from Full Draw. It's just a bit too finnicky for our tastes.
