I don't understand the problem with character redundancy if you can permanently dismiss particular companions (or not recruit them in the first place). Give us Harding and Sera, and let us decide who to use.

Besides, as heretical as it might sound (I haven't tried it, personally), can't you make Varric a daggers rogue if you so choose?

No. He can never be equipped with anything other than Bianca. Sera can be made a dagger rogue though, and with Thousand Cuts actually works remarkably well as one (Flask of Fire means no cooldown and no focus cost on ANY ability, spam Thousand Cuts every 30 seconds with Stealth in between til anything including Dragons are dead).

Actually He can use them, it's just really weird for him to do so, because Bianca

Varric can too be made a dagger's rogue.

He won't use any ranged weaponry but bianca (AKA, no bows), but he will happily use daggers.

Odd - I could never equip them to him. Since I never kept up on Bianca blueprints I tried to make him daggers...

I believe most of us are leaning towards her being an NPC romance, not becoming a party member,

I believe the thread title is about being a companion DLC.

An NPC romance DLC makes even less sense, to be a bit frank here. Could the idea of paying money for a sex scene and no gameplay content be a serious discussion?

The problem with character redundancy stems from being a DLC. DLC companions should bring something new beyond romancing a Dwarf. Shale, Javik, and Kasumi all standout as unique in what they bring. Even Zaeed brought something with his background as a mercenary.

Even Sebastian, as dull as he was in every regard, at least filled out a missing role since there were no other archers already. And I would argue against doing that again, he should have been more interesting.

Incredibly, Bioware is very good at story and characterization. There are a lot of people who play the games for this alone.

Obviously, doing this for a single character like Harding would be a little ridiculous, but if they released some sort of pack that expanded upon all of the romances, or added other interesting NPCs or story content as well, then why not? I'd probably get it.

An expansion I could see including what you're after here, but a romance pack DLC....

Typical, of all times that I have to fail in English it's in this thread. xD But yes, I would love a romance NPC DLC. Sorry for the confusion! (Wish I could edit my title)

I'm a big fan of Bioware's characters and how they develop over the game's progress. Romanceable NPCs tend to get the most of this and I think of all characters Harding is most definitely someone I want to get to know better. I don't mind that she's not a companion at all.

She doesn't necessarily have to come from a stand alone DLC, it would be nice if along with her love we'd also get more options to expand our classes, customization and war table missions. Maybe even an extra zone! But even if we only got her, I'd pay for it. I'm a hopeless romantic after all.

Ya, I thought for sure she would be an option for a male dwarf. Kind of a bummer.

No thanks to a companion DLC.

I think Harding has potential to be a companion in a future Dragon Age title, however.

A romance DLC just for Harding? No. As much as I love her. I'd rather those resources go towards expanding the world and our current companions. However making her a romance/companion in the next dragon age game? Yes yes yes. Pleeeease.

Unless the Gaider embargo is somehow lifted, the chances of a dwarf romance are nil. Harding is just the writers' way of taunting us with what we can't have.

I heard that Gaider changed his mind about dwarf romances after watching The Hobbit movies...

...I wonder which of the dwarves changed his mind exactly.,..

The Kili/Tauriel romance, presumably.

This is pretty much how I feel about it.  I don't think we need any DLC companions or DLC romances for DA: I.  There are already eight romance options and everyone gets at least two options.  I'd rather they spend their DLC resources on tying up loose ends in the story.

Harding could very easily be added in a future game as an "agent of the Inquisition" sent to support the new PC in his/her endeavors.  She can fill the ranged rogue slot, as well as be a bisexual (no race gate) romance option, making her the first dwarf romance.  Plus, then we can learn about her past:  She was a surface dwarf shepard outside of Redcliffe?  What's up with that?

Well yes, if it's an either/or type of thing, I would much prefer story focus vs romance. Preferably a DLC that expands on story and adds a little extra to romances. An extra scene or something. Nothing too crazy.

I also wouldn't be opposed to a story-based DLC that adds in a little more depth/detail to existing romances.  I worded it fairly vaguely, but I meant instead of adding in new romances through DLC.  Expanding on already existing romances through a new story?  I'd like that.

I would totally pay for a DLC with new companion quests, new cutscenes and especially new romance scenes. If they through in a romance with Harding in there I know my boyfriend would be thrilled, he has the cutest crush on Harding :P

I would like if bioware used her as a squad mate for the next game time we get a dwarf romance.

I agree, Harding is more attractive to me than Cassandra and Josephine combined.  Not that I found either of those 2 attractive at all actually.  The only romance option that I found cute was Sera, and she's exclusively for girls, which saddened me because I decided to play a Male Elf.  Would've been nice if Sera at least liked guys.  I don't know what it is, but it seems to me that Bioware doesn't seem to know (at first) what guys like, because all the romance options from Dragon Age 1 for me for straight guys have been really boring.  I was disappointed that Bethany really was not date-able in DA2 because she was blood-related to Hawke because she was easily the most attractive girl in 2.

But getting back to the topic, yes Harding is really attractive, along with Dagna.  And Sigrun too back in Awakening.  This from a guy who normally does not like Dwarven women too.  I'm not sure what it is about Bioware, but they seem to keep making the dwarven girls the most attractive, and then not date-able too.  Just like Bethany in DA2.  It's like they're going out of their way to troll straight male gamers.
