Idea 1 - 4 AW
Idea 2 - Lego, reaver, keeper, reaver
Basing #1 from my experience & #2 from this forum's threads.

Define 'best'.
If you mean fastest clear time then probably 2xAW (to tank and PotA alternately), 2x reaver (to kill stuff quick).
If you mean highest possiblility of completion no matter player skill and/or enemies - probably lego, AW, reaver and elementalist.
If you mean highest possiblility of completion and opening everything in the way - lego, AW, reaver and maybe hunter.

I should have set parameters. I guess I was thinking fastest. Although opening all doors along the way would be very good.
For that 2xAW, 1xHunter, 1xReaver
2 Elementalists
1 Arcane Warrior
1 Necromancer
Necro can kill fast but it still takes him at least 6s to wipe a group. AW is good. Eles kill slow.

I think the best in variety is AW, Elementalist, Reaver, any tank. But in general AW support and Reaver dps drops an enitre room in a few swings.

My prediction for fastest clears.
1 Reaver
1 Necro
2 assassins
Or
2 Reavers
1 Necro
1 Assassin
For safest clears against any faction:
1 Legionnaire
1 Arcane Warrior
1 Keeper
- Simply does not matter ^^ combination. Recommend DPS so the safe clear doesn't take all day.

I'd say lego, assassin, reaver, and the last be w/e. Maybe the last one be a mage or something. If the other 3 are good enough then it wouldn't really matter. This of course would depend on difficulty as well.

It's definitely 4 Arcane Warriors or 4 Keepers.
Enter a portion of the map as a group, instant 4 x Chain Lightning kill most if not all mobs, pop Fade Cloak x 4 and everything still standing dies. About 5 seconds of gameplay if not less...

Highly depends on several things including difficulty, most reavers have no place in perilous unless their team is babysitting them. In which case you're better off with different classes. Necromancer has the most insane overall DPS if we take AW with us that spams pota.
And what about enemy type? Zone 5 demons you will want an assassin or alchemist roaming around outside cleaning up terrors and wraiths before they can pile up at the door and throw painful goo at your tank thats busy whacking the commander. A good geared and skilled sin will clean up over 30 trash mobs before they reach the party at 5/5 and dispatch 2 high threats immediately at the start of each fight.
Alternatively you can have an elementalist place an never ending wall of fire at the door when you're tanking around the corner and any 3 others are good. Which brings me to the next question that is gear because some classes are faceroll and others are complete junk without the right unique or high item level weapon/accessories.
Reavers will excel insanely fast with 2x purple life on kill rings and a +200 health belt and +21 con gloves mod. Whereas the sin, lego, ele, necro, archer and aw can make do without such specific stuff.
Every enemy type/situation is handled better by different classes and certain pieces of gear.
A sin with the right gear can insta 20k damage and drop almost over 1k per basic attack at a really fast and steady pace. Put that same gear on a reaver and he will drop like a brick in a single swing from an perilous enemy because he doesn't have -100% threat and stealth. Make a horde of enemies appear and your assassin is utter crap compared to the AW's pota, keepers cage or an ele's fire wall.
Now I can say 4 AW but if there's 4 AW's trying to melee they will get in eachothers way one or two won't get any hits in won't build any barrier and a ranged perilous enemy will 1 hit KO their HP. Goes like that with 4 of most things I suppose. And are you trying to find the best team to do it fast? or efficiently?
Overal for efficiency succesrate and speed I would give my vote to Lego/Sin/AW/Necro if we're dealing with perilous and just common item level 20 gear and communicating players. (Very important) Can replace necro with ele, Aw with keep, sin with any other rogue.

Arcane Warrior
Alchemist
Keeper
Templar
Step 1: Shield mode activate!
Step 2: Pull of the Abyss to cluster enemies.
Step 3: Ice Flask to freeze entire group.
Step 4: Spell Purge detonate the whole group.
Step 5: Cake.

depend on what you mean by "parties"
I'd say 4 players with skills with any class will still be the best in the end.
Any Parties that have 4 keeper, arcane warrior or elementalist will do extremely well
Any Parties that have: high defensive capability will do well(legionnaire), barrier class(elementalist, keeper, Arcane warrior), upgraded stealth to clear debuff (hunter assassin), death syphon class(necromancer and elementalist) will do well.
if you use best class of each type you will do good:
tank = legionnaire
caster = keeper, Arcane warrior, elementalist
Rogue = Hunter, assassin(very tricky class to play)
If I need to pick one group for perilous, I'd go with legionnaire, elementalist, keeper and hunter

what spec for the necro ? I found my first necro build lacking in dps compared to other class.

From Personal Experience.
Safest Clear:
Keeper with Stasis
Legionnaire
Elementalist with barrier
Assassin
Fastest Clear:
Reaver
Arcane Warrior
Elementalist with Barrier
Alchemist
From my personal experience, I've found the Assassin to be safer than the Alchemist at clearing out trash mobs but a little slower (Alchemist is more focused on pumping out a Ton of AoE damage, whereas the Assassin is single target quick eliminations while constantly slipping in and out of stealth) and taking a Keeper with Stasis over an Arcane Warrior increases the entire parties chances of completion as if the Arcane Warrior makes one mistake against a boss like the Red Templar Commander or Demon Commander, they are dead.
In the Speed Clear, the AW acts as the Tank, the Reaver main DPS, Alchemist and Elementalist trash clear.
